    • Thanks guys, very helpful and all booked! Spontaneous but for 3 of us less than $1200 return is insanely cheap. YAY!!!

      • What dates did you book for? I couldn't find any return flights for $0 in April

        • No promo is from May 7. Booked for late may

  • I did the GC->Cairns->Osaka during the 2018 xmas period, our flight was cancelled at Cairns, they told us we would have to wait up to 3 days stranded in cairns for another flight to japan.

Jetstar were pretty useless, I had to search up my own flights (flew back to BNE, drove home for the night, went back to GC the next morning and flew GC->Narita->Osaka) and suggest it to them before they got back to me and approved it. Was a pretty shit start to the holiday, but only ended up losing 1 and a bit days.

  • Where's the Virgin deals flying into Haneda?

Baggage is getting ridiculous with Jetstar. $52 each way for 15kg. When I went to Singapore a number of years ago it was only around $20 and I think that was for 20kg.

This deal is $533 with checked baggage from Sydney. Same dates from Canberra (where I am) with Qantas is only $660. $127 extra for full service and no need to drive all the way to Sydney.

I don’t mind flying Jetstar, but I find that I’m doing it less and less, as there just isn’t a big enough difference in price compared to the full service airlines once all the extras are added on.

    Any sale to China?

  • i must be in the minority. never had super shitty service from jetstar. taxi lag is an airport fault AFAIK. pay for your seat, dont pay for any extras, and spend the money you save at your destination

is jetstar international business class just absolute dogshit?

When I was booking through qantas a few months ago, I almost accidentally applied for a business ticket that was on a jetstar flight. Thank god I realised in time.

Some of you sound a bit precious honestly, complaining about food, entertainment and baggage charges. Though I do understand and feel for those that have had legitimate delay issues, I don't mean you guys. Flown to Japan direct 8 times through Jetstar, never had an issue. Not a single occasion was there another airline doing it cheaper. Packed my own lunch, book, and was smart enough to weigh my baggage beforehand.

    • if you're flying from cairns its awesome because it's direct. connecting flights and delays suck no matter the airline

      • +2

        Also direct from Gold Coast.

    • if flying out from the gold coast you can go buy lunch at the hungry jacks and use the vouchers. good deal i reckon :)

      • I call the beach the departure lounge😉

  • 1) I'm in Melbourne, so for me it starts "from $458"… How often does this sort of deal come around? Not ready yet to jump on this… but we've been thinking about Japan for a while.

    • Is Jetstar free return the cheapest way to get return flights to Japan? Or are there other deals that sometimes beat it? Thanks for the help.

      • Yes. Booking within the sale period is generally still the cheapest way to get there, even after adding baggage, taxes etc.

  • Booked flight, sub $400 return from Melbourne to Tokyo.

    • When I go through to the deal, and say from Melbourne to Tokyo, it says the cheapest flights are starting from $488…. how did you get one "sub $400"? Thank you.

Just checked and there is still availability for that price around my dates. I booked the 4th June to 13th June and the price was $393.

        • nice one..

  • FYI, it will be monsoon/rainy season in Japan, whole month of June is the worst.

  • I can't find any $0 return fares from Melbourne. I phoned the Jetstar phone line and they weren't able to confirm if any of these fares are left. Is this deal now exhausted? Or can anybody find some?

    • +1

      Is this deal now exhausted?
There are other departures than just from Melbourne!

Make sure you are booking return fares & within the appropriate $0 return period - shown before searching. Try different dates.

First dates I chose from Gold Coast or Cairns gave $0 return fare.

Flights from other departure cities connect through those direct flight gateways.

So once you find a suitable $0 return flight through Cairns or Gold Coast - use that as basis for search from your departure city.

No, Deal has not been exhausted.

      • Thanks! I'll try again. You've been enormously more helpful than the Jetstar phone line

        • Everyone's more helpful!
Have booked these flights out of Gold Coast & Cairns since 2007.

          • @INFIDEL: Do you normally wait until there are tiger/jetstar sales for Cairns?

            • @w37hsyea: No, there are other options. I'm based in Brisbane. Regularly fly cheap to Osaka.
(Visit a rice farmer friend in tiny mountain village North of Kyoto.)

I used to fly out of Cairns to Osaka on Jetstar, combining with a stay in Cairns.

Now cheaper to book offer from Brisbane if needing to fly out of Cairns to Osaka.

Flying direct to Tokyo, Gold Coast is easy & cheap to get to by train & bus from Brisbane.

  • Just wondering if anyone has received $25 hotel voucher from this booking.
I am waiting for mine. When will it arrive?
