      • +4

Yeah, but this is OzBargain.com.au, not OzSlightlyCheaperThanTheCompetition.com.au

to really be classified as a bargain, i think you'd really need to be a decent percentage off. - I'd say generally about 10%, but generators could be a little different.

        • -8

if you compare with the retail price $2099. we are doing more than 24% off the retail.

    • do they have free delivery?

we will keep on beat the price down on the track.

To the OP, I can see you're trying, but Ozbargain is unique in it's ability to tear apart anyone game enough to post a deal here. Your grammer doesn't help, and try to not be reactive to posts if you are/can. Just ensure you have the cheapest price anywhere to avoid the tear down, and now you've been informed maybe beat generatorworld by $1 or something (just be cheaper). It's the difference between downvotes or upvotes for your deal.

On the plus side though it's a good deal for an amazing product. To the uninitiated, this is the Apple or Weber of generators. Thus I'd imagine Honda don't allow margin, so OP likely thought he was the man until he posted and someone found a few bucks cheaper. Credit for the attempt.

And finally OZB tip, if you can get one of these used (do some basic ebay/gt/fb research on the spot), they do sell well, and as above brands, hold their value and can be a nice win.

      Your grammer …

      • Hehe, knew I'd fail somewhere and get picked up for it 😅.

      learned. thx

I'll add that if your deals are good enough alone, your English can be as shit as you want. Ultimately it's all about the $$$ here.

  • -2

    Isn't a 2.2kw genset only like $800? Why's this one so expensive?

    Edit: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/toolpro-toolpro-inverter…

I'd this the Dyson generator or…?

    • +3

Nah the China special ones dont come close to the Honda quality, fuel economy, quietness and steady voltage.

    • +3

If you need to ask that question then you obviously aren't in the market for one, otherwise you would already know. What you've linked to is the "Great Wall" version of generators, vs a Honda. Whilst cheapies like what you have linked continue to improve, the Honda is still miles ahead in reliability and quietness. Whilst that may not be a big matter for what some people use them for, caravaners want them to be as quiet as possible, and many people want them to be reliable because they depend on them.

      • -1

Could've just said "yes it's the Dyson" and that would've summed it up haha

$700 for a $29 vacuum because it looks nice, is a little quieter and has a "premium" label..

        • Could've just said "yes it's the Dyson" and that would've summed it up haha

          Think Great Wall V Lexus

          • -2

            @[Deactivated]: Dyson V $29 Kmart vacuum… Same thing…

If you're worried about reliability buy 4 Chinese ones for the same price… Lol…

I just don't believe a "premium" product can be literally 2-4x the price of an average one, absolutely bullshit. It's all marketing.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: They can easily be better in many ways, not least of which is reliability. Sure you can buy cheapies, and the sum total of the 2 will still last half as long. The Honda will be easier for the wife to start over time, or the elderly.

But… if you camp, go tot he effort to line up time off work, family has timed their time off, you load up, head out, day 2 generator fails the trip can be less enjoyable and possibly insufferable. And replacement isnt around the corner. If this is camping in Bacchus Marsh, fine, if its the middle of The Simpson desert, its much more inconvenient.

              • @Tuba: This is why I compared to Dyson. I've never had a cheapo Kmart vacuum fail either, maybe it's just my luck? Surely it wouldn't be Dyson lying about how much more reliable their vacuums are ;)

The grandma argument is same as with Dyson - yeah it's a fair point but I don't think that alone justifies the price. Might be easier for your grandma (or wife too in generator case) to use, but doesn't justify the price.

                • @[Deactivated]: Sure mate, and a cheap no brand TV is the same as an OLED.

So youve had one cheapo Kmart vacuum cleaner for decades I take it?

                  • @Tuba: You've gone deep now lol… What's next, going to complain about the cheaper $150 no brand phones not having 5G yet? Wait 3-5 years and the cheapo brands will have OLED…

What's being talked about here is the basic concept of combining a petrol engine with the alternator - two technologies likely older than you or I. The cheap brands aren't that far off the mark. It's not like Honda has some kind of magical new technology the cheap brands haven't discovered yet. Even if they're 3, 5, 10 years ahead… It's essentially meaningless given the lack of breakthroughs in the applicable technology in that time. It's not like the Honda has 5G or OLED and the cheapos don't… TVs was a bloody great example though because those cheap TVs literally use the same panels as the branded ones these days.

Just FYI, the engine used in this retails for around $400-600. If you really think a bit of nice looking plastic and an alternator is worth $1000, go for it… You're basically just buying a whipper snipper with an alternator for $1600.

                    • @[Deactivated]: LOL, we didnt complain, you did.

Hisense already has an OLED. A TV is much more than the panel. With panels, theres this years panel and then theres outdated models.

Glad youre not the sole maker of generators. Im leaning toward you think Worker and Parasite 'is same' as Itchy and Scratchy.

            • @[Deactivated]: Lol. And you could cart two of them around with you in case one breaks down. Honda and Yamaha generators are at the top of the market because they're reliable, have excellent backup, and deliver clean, quality power. Old saying- the advice of one wise man is far better than that of 4 fools, if you get my drift.

  • +1

If you are after a generator, then reliability is important. I went with Yamaha's EF2000i, but if this deal was on at the time, I would definitely get an EU22i. No point going for the cheaper/weaker EU20i as that will struggle even to boil water with a kettle.
