Actually worked with this PC before for a customer. Just don't, please, don't even put your grandma through this. The basic setup of the machine took a millenia due to not being able to do much else while it was running windows updates, and it was for the most part just slow and barely responsive. Plus the IO is only enough for a Keyboard and Mouse really.
Did you try swapping the HDD for an SSD? Can't imagine it's that bad with an SSD.
There isn't really anything wrong with it other than the lack of SSD.
The 2100GE is on the same level as an i5-2550k, which despite being released in 2011 is still a decent chip for modern systems.

@iseeyou1312: It's basically the equivalent of a mid-level PC from 2012, don't see anything wrong with that for a a granny PC. You won't be able to play any games released in the last decade, but it will run stuff like Civ 5, or solitaire.
The 2550k doesn't have hyperthreading, the 2100GE does, so they both have 4 logical cores. The 2550k is still better than the 2100GE, but it's close.
@Jolakot: Threads are not the same thing as cores. Hyper threading increases the efficiency of the cores, but ultimately the performance is not even close.

edit: HP website claims Dimensions are 13.6 x 25.8 x 31 cm, which is only slightly bigger than Dell SFF.
According to HP website, it does have HDMI 2.0 (JB says HDMI 1.4)

Additionally, this HP has Wifi, legit Windows and a DVD reader.

Wifi adapters are $10, legit OEM windows is a waste of money, DVD readers are pointless in 2020.
This "deal" also has a dual core processor, hard drive, vega 3, 4gb ram and god only knows what psu and motherboard they've stuck in it.

Branded computers use specific power supply, meaning it could cost you anywhere close to $100 and above if it burns.

To have a decent performance without spending too much you are gonna need to upgrade to at least 8GB, 256GB SSD as main disk, Windows 10 Pro.
Even with Linux this desktop without upgrades will have a sh1t performance.
why would you upgrade to Windows 10 Pro? There's nothing wrong with the home edition and the upgrade would be heaps unless you get a dodgy key.
It is DDR4 and yeah agreed 4GB is useless today.
Well, I am a Linux user anyways so the first thing I always do when buying computer/laptop is to delete it and install Linux but, Windows Home has limitation such as it restrict how many software can be opened together, etc.
It doesn't have Computer Management for example, and so on. It is a real pain in the butt.
Home users won't notice a thing, for advanced users Windows Home is a kick in the balls.
What are you on about? Software limitations? No computer management? That's simply not true.
Only real notable difference is Home misses Bitlocker, group policy, active directory and azure active directory support.
@syousef: Yes that too. A few other misc features as well but none of those things this Linux expert is on about.
@Clear: Perhaps that's what he means by "Computer Management". I use RDP all the time and it is a complete pain in the rear for remote management of the machines that it isn't available in home.
Poledit, Bitlocker, RDP are all quite useful to any advanced home user.
@syousef: Screenconnect is my friend for remote management. Perhaps with the comment about software he is thinking of S Mode?
Went to have a look at one in-store today.
I didn't get them to scan one but it does not appear to be marked down on the floor.
The unit itself is OK, case plastic feels cheaply made. PSU looks replaceable.
PCIe slots are full height which is nice for a SFF machine. I'm fairly sure you would need a short-length card though, but those are fairly easy to find compared to half-height.
I bought myself one today, from JB Hi-Fi Pacific Fair-for $369 for very light gaming such as playing games purchased on GOG and web browsing, it’s perfect for my needs.
Mine has a Seagate HDD & LG ODD.
Mind running CPU-Z and GPU-Z? It's very hard to find definitive specs on these machines.

Been playing a few older games on this HP-got about 40 FPS in F1 2014 on medium settings, in a newer game like AOE 1 DE, about 23 FPS.
Also played Halo MCC with resolution set low, frame rate set to limit to 60 FPS and graphics set to performance-getting around 40-50 FPS.
Eh good enough for grandma
