Apparently this is now a monthly thing

Choose one Kindle book for FREE each month

    • +12

It's always been a monthly thing. It's a standard Prime benefit.

      • +1

This. Dunno why these things always get posted and upvoted to the front page, it's literally a standard part of your plan and they always notify you when it comes out every month.

I’ve been a prime member for a long time and didn’t know this was a benefit

@alwaysis: Same. Didn't get any notification

          • +1

@alwaysis: My bad, I didn't realise people did not know about this; I assumed Amazon emailed Prime members every month as that is how I found out about it.

        • +3

Me too. I wasn’t aware of this, so thanks OP.

        • True, this was my immediate reaction too. The moderation of this site appears to have gone walk-about in recent times.

      • +6

First I've heard about this actually, so I appreciate the post.

  • Neat, can also add audio narration for cheap (3.49 for Anger is my middle name), which is equivalent to the audible release I believe.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • What’s the difference between audio narration and the audible book?

      • -1

one of them reads it out to you, the other you have to read for yourself.

        • Pretty sure that's incorrect. When you pay to get the narration, the title turns up in your audible account as well as being accessible from kindle.

I know some books have a narration option where the kindle will read it to you, but that's free right?

          • @3: well my kindle doesn't have a speaker or a headphone jack, so I'm not sure how it will do that.

            • @lostn: Some have Bluetooth and have narration as an accessibility feature. In the US those Kindles can also download audiobooks I believe, but not here.

              • @ethan961: is it text to speech or an actual narrator?

                • +2

@lostn: The accessibility feature is text to speech. Audible narration is spoken recording.

          • @3: … also played back on Amazon devices like the Echo. I've tried it with my Echo and I really don't like synthesised "voices", prefering the natural warmth, timbre and moderation of the actual human voice.

  • Thank you!

    Ah.

I'm a US kindle user, but AU prime member. So I don't get the freebie.

Does anyone recommend reading any of these titles.

    • -4

      Yes

    • +3

Yeah same any recommendations? I received the email and bookmarked it for later as I guess Ive got to work out which one to get. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: Read about all of them and ended up getting This Terrible Beauty. Historical fiction set after World War II in East Germany. Hope it's alright, sounded ok.

Thanks - didn't knew about that. One more thing to keep me on prime since ptimeo video is shit. I got Jeff wheeler one - being a while that I didn't read anything from him.

    • +3

Prime Video has a tonne of hidden gems.

Am I the only one who gets 2 of these each month? It might be worth it to double check, others might be able to get 2 each month as well.

    • Occasionally it's 2 books, but most months it's only 1.

    • The email I received says I'm only allowed one book and I checked and can definitely confirm it's only one book for me anyway.

  • 1.99 for me. Last month I got my freebie. Weird as I even got the email.

None of thes books seem interesting….don't even know what to pick

  • Thank You!

  • Thanks for the info, when you buy one of the selected books (for free) just tick the email me monthly box to get a monthly reminder.

Good Reads is a good way to get a quick overview of the selected titles.

  • How come I get the "this title is currently unavailable for purchase"? Logged into Amazon Prime Australia.
