Hey are these 4% (crap) or the 5% ABV?

    • you negged because it's 1% off your preferred ABV?

      • +5

Most drinks taste different at a different ABV as they would use a different brewing method.

        (not justifying the neg)

      • +8

If it's his favourite beer, then he would've known, that they've changed the ABV and it now tastes like crap….

        • Thanks for bringing it to our attention but still a harsh neg for OP's first post, maybe he (and others) like the 4% crap

        • Last time i went to Costco the beer was 4% and if you actaully open the image it shows 4% alcohol. I agree with you, it is crap.

    • +3

Says 4% in the image (zoom in).

So using that logic…. I can confirm its 4%.

    • I have never known becks to be anything higher than 4%, seems your gripe is with the beer company, not the deal

        https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_56169/beck-s-beer-3…

Recently dropped from 5% to 4%…… not sure where you've been buying Becks from….

        • ive never paid much attention to the % but i tried it around Christmas again for the first time in a while and didn't notice any difference, assumed it had always been mid strength, my bad

      • It changed from 5 a while ago. Reason was it wasn't selling at they were hoping a % drop with a price decrease would give it some legs.

      • First time I've seen the 4% product.
        Haven't drunk Becks for almost a decade.Used to be 4.8%,with a 6% variant.
        Would not touch this stuff.

    • Germans drink for taste … Australians drink for ABV ?

An excellent price for the German brewed Becks, great first deal Op.

    • +1

Think jzx got a point its only a light beer .

  • OP This is a great deal……. Wish it were the 5% and not 4%

    • -3

So it's a great deal, but you negd it since it has 4% alcohol?

      • +1

        Ahh the old white knight….

  • Not comparing it with the old 5% version, what is the consensus of the 4% version as a "heavy-mid strength"?

    • +2

Prolly on special as nobody drinks it anymore and as a result is around the best before date.

Used to enjoy Grolsch and Becks.

Not uncommon to see Grolsch being "cleared",as it does not always sell out due to price.

      Neither travel well.

Ah Becks, America's favorite German beer(TM). It's no wonder Costco sell it. I suddenly have an urge to go sailing on the Alexander von Humboldt while listening to Joe Cocker.

OP's username is making me drool uncontrollably

  • +2

"You don't have to be Posh to swallow Becks" - one of the best ad taglines ever.

  • +1

Both 5% and 4% versions are crap. Wouldn't touch this beer even if it was free.

  • are these same taste as heineken?

    • +2

No, dishwater is closer to on-tap Heineken.

  • +1

I tried the 4% aka 1.0 standard drink. Definitely noticed the drop.

Flavour still seems nice Becks style to me, but it's a cheap move considering they are still $25 for a 6 pack at Liquorland (full/regular price).

If they drop the alcohol a % they should drop the price.

  • I discovered IPAs never looked back - hoppy beers all the way. BOJAK HAZY IPA is my current fav albeit a bit pricey!

  • +1

A shadow of it's former self. Was good long long ago when imported and therefore full ABV

  • Looks like these are on clearance to sell. Won't be brought back once sold out, hence the + on the sign and ending in 97 cents.
