    Price in title

  • Is it any good?

    • Best thing about Aldi: try for up to 60 days and return with no questions asked

      • +30

Yeah, can’t wait to run 108m of cables to pull it all down because it’s not what I wanted…

        • LOL

        • +4

..And with no returns/customer service desk it's a horrible returns experience, especially with a line of people behind you who just want to buy a few groceries.

          • -4

@leTintin: This is one of the reasons I hate shopping at Aldi, no express checkout and you always end up stuck waiting for some 108 year old to pay/learn to use the eftpos machine/chit chat/slowly pack away their groceries so the next person can be served.

        • You need to be smart enough to try it before doing all that work Einstein

720p… so no, I would look like for something towards 3MP and POE to be "good".

      • +1

        What’s poe?

Power over Ethernet - Means they can be powered and connected to the internet with just a network cable, rather than a network and power cable separately

      • Actually most of the time a 2mp camera is better for any night vision things (not saying these cameras).

Check out ipcamtalk forums for lots more info.

        • +1

Lol why would 2mp be better than 3mp for night vision?

          • @MuddyClear: Lol.

As a camera increases in resolution, you normally find that the sensor size and f stop have also changed. These things actually do matter in the ability to take low light photos. Unlike an image being high in megapixels.

@kulprit: Lol good try. I’m going 4mp for night vision!

Cheaper direct from manufacturer but may be refurb, $249 + $8 flat rate shipping - https://cocoonproducts.com.au/shop/homesecurity/dvr-kits/8-c…

    • No, it is refurb.

    • Page is giving a 404
Edit: probably a good thing given some of the reviews!

      • Yea just checked. its not even listed as a product on their website anymore…

  • Looks a bit dated. Good price for those who don't care I guess.

AVOID. My parents own this at their Airbnb. This particular Cocoon system disconnects from the internet randomly. Took a smart switch used to reboot to solve issue(As it's a 40 minute drive to turn it on and off for them) Tech support does not acknowledge issue. Check other forums to confirm it's a known problem. Also no fast forward on desktop Software. So you will need to watch through recorded footage LOL

  • Any suggestion of a good system (not wireless)

    • Got a Dahua NVR from ebay, no complaints so far in last 2 years

I've been through 3 CCTV systems over my lifetime and have not been completely happy till I had my current HIKVision system.

You get what you pay for :(

      • +2

Been running HIKs for about 5 years. Only issue was the network cable that I had to re-crimp a new connector for.

      • +3

+1 for Hikvision - cost more upfront but worth it for peace of mind, and less hassles

    • My preference is Dahua starlight 2mp IP cams, old computer to use as NVR and Blue iris software. Check IPCamtalk forums

Crap product with known issues, no deal just misery.

Why you need so many cameras ? Two inside the toilet? lol

    • two for outside (front and back yard)

two for outside left and right side of house

      OR

can put two inside the house

Plus the other 4 for wherever you want or keep as spares
