And what are the in-app purchases for android?

      • Image recognition mode as far as I can tell.

    • I wonder whats the difference between ios and android features.

  • This will be handy when ordering Ramen at my local ramen house.

    • Chances are the staff are all Chinese so you better brush up on your Mandarin too lol.

      • Korean or Japanese staff at the ones I go to.

When I walk in they all yell some Japanese greeting at me which is lovely but no idea whether they are saying “Fat guy coming in, give him the ‘specialty’” or just “hello”.

If anyone wants another Japanese dictionary recommendation: imiwa

    • i love imiwa! great for reading text that you copied.

for those that have an Apple Watch, i recommend a flashcard app called TokeiTango.

  • ios 11 or later :(

    • what phone are you using :-/

  • 読みは?

  • Is this better than google translate?

    • Google Translate is beyond awful for Japanese. Quite often the translations are flat out wrong and/or grammatically incorrect.

I really wish you could buy an App remotely with Apple. It's so silly to have to be on the device you want it downloaded onto. I'm so used to going to the Google Play Store and getting something and then selecting the device I want to install it to.

    • Agreed!

I remember the good old days when I could actually be on my PC and it would download into itunes. I used to get a lot of free apps back then as it was just easier.
