[WA] Lawrenny - 1818 Settlers Gin 70cl (700 ml) 2 Bottles for $10 Pickup @ Perth Airport Duty Free

1230

I was browsing for duty free liquor. Saw this amazing deal 2 for AUD 10 offer. Did online purchase of 4 bottles and paid 20 AUD in total. This is true. I dont know whether this is a mistake that the price is AUD10 instead of AUD100 for 2, but its a bargain to be grabbed. Happy Ginning and happy holidays. This is available in all Aussie airports with DUFRY duty free.

(Note: a Boarding Pass is required to collect purchases from the Duty free shop - you'll need to clear customs and the immigration desks first)

Good job if you managed to get some, definitely looks like a pricing error (usually about $100/bottle at regular bottleshops)

  • Can orders be collected by someone whose name isn't on the order

    • Unlikely, duty free is meant for passengers travelling through an international airport

  • Definitely a price error. Paid $50 for a 500ml at Dan’s on sale! (So $100 for 2x 700ml sounds about right for duty free)

Amazing deal if they honour it! Good luck!

    • On completion of the order, it states price as $139 then applies a $129 discount.

  • I think it's supposed to be buy 2, get $10 off, which is what happens in the cart. Then when you go to pay the total price becomes $10. Wish I lived near Perth airport and needed to travel OS.

    • +3

Are you sure that's what it said in your cart? In mine the discount is -$129.98

  • I ordered 6 (had to do it in two orders) as there’s two of us flying into PER next month.

    See what happens!

      • +5

They don't have to honour it…

I reckon the best chance of it being honoured would be for flights in a couple of days (where it goes unnoticed), rather than in a fews weeks time.

        • It's on Ozbargain, it's not unnoticed now.
Sure way to kill any price errors, rule of thumb which op did sell; make sure you grab some yourself before posting.

    • -2

Isn't that over the allowable quantity of import? My understanding is that you can only bring 2.2 litres, and only if you also declare it. #borderprotection #dontbesorry

        • +9

Ummm, if you're flying interstate, good luck getting through immigration and customs where your duty free order is waiting!

          • +1

@wizzlesticks: So out of curiosity how much do you think 6 of these bottles split between two people?
Because either way 6*700ml is 4.2 liters then split that between the TWO of them flying is 2.1 liters each.

            • -3

@IDidntSleep: @IDidntSleep that is a fair point. My experience with duty free is that liquor is usually 1 litre, but for wine yep, that would be 750ml and within duty free allowance.

          • +6

@wizzlesticks: I'm being negged, but seems a lot of people don't understand the international requirement to collect duty free.

        • +1

Lol. Tell us your hack for domestic duty free

        • +1

You can’t collect the duty free if you’re flying interstate - you’ll be going through a different terminal, security and no immigration/customers. Physically impossible to get to the duty free without an international ticket.

      • +3

You are being negged because 2.25L > 1.4L

You are right, this is only available for international travel.

  • +1

I don't usually drink gin, but hell at this price, can I say no?

    • Hell, even if you don't drink gin it'll make a good, cheap birthday / Christmas present for someone who does.

      • Exactly! And if they don't like it, they can always regift it easily! ;)

  • +5

Also Jacobs creek ~$80-$100 wine 2 for $10, Melbourne airport too.

    • +1

How can Jacobs Creek wine be $80 - $100?

    • Thanks. Ordered x4. Thought it would restrict to 3 given the allowance limits..

      • When you pick them up you will be restricted. 2.25L per person. They may charge you duty.

        • I wonder if the rate is based on the $5 base price. Surely that wouldnt make it more than $10 per bottle which is still a great deal.

          • @Dungeon Master: I think it would be both a GST component and the WET (Wine Equalisation Tax: WET is a tax of 29% of the wholesale value of wine)

  • Nice find. Hope they honour it.

  • Outstanding deal, great find

  • where is the shop?

  • +1

I assume we can't collect without a boarding pass or flight booked?

    • -1

You don't need a flight number. I ordered two without putting in any flights, just not sure when's my next trip to Perth :P

      • +1

You mean *next 'international arrival' into Perth. You'll be arriving at one of the two domestic terminals (i.e. no duty free).

  • Looks to be fixed

    • Nope, still good. I just ordered 2 for pickup when I get back to Perth in a few days. Also I checked my account and can confirm $10 was the price charged.

Now to look if there's a free amazon ebook on how to mix gin reicepes.

      • Do not waste this gin by mixing.

  • +2

You will need to pass customs to get to these shops aye..

    • Thanks @brokenxsmile - champion. I orderd 2 shiraz and 2 cabernet. I'm actually not sure if I'll be travelling this Sunday, but probably will and this is too good to say no to!!

  • +1

I ordered a couple bottles as well. I am very confident this won't get honoured. Flying late Feb/March so I'll update if it works!

    • +1

      Cancelled

  • Darm! I just flew in this morning!!

  • All the pages say Error 404 now

  • Got mine through saying $10 all the way Place Order, but confirmation screen then did suggest full price. Can we argue for a refund if they do end up charging full price?

    • -3

mine the same. but if you check your order and your bank account its all $10. I even had a rep i was chatting to say "Great Deal!"

      • the confirmation email does confirm $10.

        Thanks OP!!

        • +1

Yeah just got my wifes order in. 4 bottles of quality Gin for $5 each. Deal of the year if it goes through??

  • Great work OP.
Fingers crossed we all get lucky

  • Does anyone know if these can be picked up prior to check in and stored in the checked backage?

    • You meant after arriving from overseas and then domestic? If not then no.

    • It's duty free, so you'll need to clear customs and collect in the duty free zone (i.e. air side of international terminal).

  • Will they hold it until I fly in may

  • Actual deal looks like buy any 2 for $100. Price error…

  • Thanks hope they honour it if not worth a try , would be a great score

    • +1

Even if they don't it's not the end of the world. I fully expect them to cancel the order, due to the influx of orders for two bottles of gin or wine.

      • Agree it’s in there terms as well , but worth a try if not will buy the $18 1ltr bourbon real McCoy ( $20 less 10% as a red platinum customer)

  • -1

I dunno if it matters but it does say in the FAQ:

    1. Browse
      our catalogue online
Remember: in order to purchase goods in our Duty Free stores, you must be travelling internationally through Perth Airport.
  • +2

If they're worth close to $100 a bottle, you could throw in a quick return trip to Bali and still come out on top lol

  • wonderful timing. my mother is flying back in so she can pick up for me :D

    • can we stack on top please :P

      • that'll be a $69.99 handling fee please

  • +2

this is cheaper than most hand sanitisers!

    • much cheaper than coles or woolies own branded sanitiser which is $3.50 for 200ml

  • finally looking at a win, then stores only in perth and melbourne, NONE in adelaide

  • At that price it's almost worth buying a cheap flight.

  • Amazing they have not fixed it after nearly 20hours ? Deals still live

  • +6

Just to update, I've pick my order up this morning in Melbourne, 2 bottles of wine at $10. No hassle whatsoever so all good!

    • Out of stock now in Melbourne :(

    • -1

How did you pick it up? Obviously, you have not flown at all. Is it easier to pick it up from the arrival or departure store?

      • You can't get duty free unless you go overseas. It's only on departure or a arrival of international flights

      • +1

Flew into Melbourne from overseas this morning, came back from a trip. No idea departure vs arrival as this was my first time doing pickup, at arrivals

  • Looks like only the Shiraz is available now:

    https://dutyfree.perthairport.com.au/en/expedition-shiraz-75…

I've tried to add the Gin and the Cab Sav to the shopping cart and it says it can't be added to the cart anymore. Probably all sold out :D

  • +2

Just received an email to say order cancelled & refunded.

    • so did I :(

      • Did the email say why as it’s still advertised?

    • Same. "Online error" lol

  • +1

So, I'm in Perth, and it's 3.28pm on 17 Feb. I've just placed an order for 2X bottles of Lawrenny Van Diemen's Gin AND 4 X bottles of the fancy Shiraz - total cost $30. AND, I just recvd an email confirmation of the purchase and the cost of the purchase. So, all's good so far.
If this goes through (as it seems like), it's the deal of the year, and I vote KanjoosBaba (OP) as official President of the Universe and deputy-God.
I love you KanjoosBaba, and I want to have your babies (…if I wasn't actually male!).

    • That is way over the allowance for international duty free, unless you're about to head overseas with 3+ people!

      • Oops, sorry, should have said there's two of us travelling. Allowance is 2.25litres of alcohol total each.

  • Also, meant to say in response to some previous queries above: I looked up the small print on this duty-free purchase.
You must buy 2 days (48hours) in advance of your INTERNATIONAL flight and no more than 60 (sixty) days in advance - so, between 2 and 60 days. And you must have your flight details in order to purchase (flight no., arrival or departure date and time).

Online error - order cancelled and refunded.
    Our apologies for the inconvenience.

    Was worth a try

    • -2

Yep got the cancellation email too. Absolutely gutted. I cant believe they did this to me.

  • "Online error - order cancelled and refunded.
    Our apologies for the inconvenience."
    Damn! My dreams are crushed….

  • Mine got cancelled today. No big deal as I wasn’t expecting to actually get two bottles of gin for $10, but worth a shot as always.

  • Yep, cancelled here too. Can they do that or isn't there some responsibility of them to honour sales??

    • Yes and no. Unless you can prove this was a systematic bait and switch.

  • Update on this post. My sis flew in today and went to the counter to pick-up. I did not receive any cancellation notice prior and it was supposedly all good to be collected. Rocked up to the counter and they wouldn't honor it. Said the money would be refunded to my account. Haven't seen it yet but will monitor over the next few days.

  • Never got an email for confirmation or cancellation. Received a refund though (only two days after purchase), I was attempting to buy wine from Melbourne.
