Can't report on this updated model but have the previous version. This unit with a decent grinder can do an espresso. You need to heat the unit to get a good extraction, running hot water through the unit is required. Too fine a grind and the water will try to escape if under too much pressure but when you get the chemistry right, you can get a great shot.
I use this unit with the LIDO ET at my work. I have had my ROK for quite a few years. I assume the updated top part is there due to corrosion issue in the old unit though saying that, the unit still works like a charm.
