    Username checks out 🤦‍♂️

Their prices are already quite high so essentially this $100 credit make them equal to other mechanics.

    • +5

Dunno about the servicing side but they price beat tyres essentialling making them the cheapest. + they also matched the free wheel alignment tyresales was offering and they did the price beat easy no hassles over the phone which took less than 5 minutes for the entire phone call and order. The sylvania service guys who fitted the tyres were great too.

  • +2

Doesnt seem to be on my velocity platinum card. Anyone got a manual link?

  • do they price beat on other store's tyre price?

    • yes

      • +2

so if buy 4 get 1 free and $100 on top it. It is a competitive deal.

      • They're fairly strict with the 30km thing, I had to call back to book at a different store just so I'm within the 30km radius when I've asked them to price beat Tempe.

    • +2

i had an excellent experience with the price beat offer recently but it seems like the customer care does not talk much with the actual service centre. Also their tyre care plan is super which covers your tyres for the rest of their lives (including free puncture repairs and rotation/balancing periodically)

      • Good to hear some positive for their service, can Coles Myre gift card be used to cover the anything after $400?

        • +3

Since becoming MyCar - they no longer accept the Coles/Myer group gift cards

        • You could redeem flybuys dollars as well as collect flybuys points.

  • +1

They price match other stores, including buy 3 get 1 free offers at bob jane etc, even on tyres they don't normally stock.
If you have a supplementary card, save the offer on it too and split the payment at mycar. See deal from last time https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/488166

Must be targeted, no offers on my card.

  • +3

Thanks op. This couldnt have come more timely. I have scheduled in tyre changes at MyCar. Can split payments over 2 cards and reduce the price by $200.

  • Dont get this in the app. Direct link?

I bought tyres last month from this place. FML

Maybe buy a gift card for later use…

  • +1

do they sell gift cards? as in coles myer ?

    • Some time ago yes. But no longer the case.

    • I think no as Coles & Myer card can no longer be used there since rebranding mid last year. No point selling them.

  • I only need two tyres changed as I've recently put two new tyres on just the other week.

Is it worth getting my brakes done aswell just to meet the $400?
Last time the tyre guys said something about 2% moisture being in my brake fluid and the limit is 4%.

    Car has done 65000kms

    • +1

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years according to some manufacturers (see your handbook). So take that with a grain of salt. Maybe every 3 years but depends on your car. You might as well do it if you need to reach $400

      • Thanks mate, to be honest - I've never done logbook servicing since I got the car 5.5yrs ago. All I've done is the oil and filter changes myself every 10,000kms…

So I guess it's time to change the brake fluids - is it also advisable to change the actual brake pads while I'm at it? I'm assuming its 65,000km on the stock brakes.

        • +1

Brake pads to my knowledge is changed according to how much mm it has left rather than how many km. I think it would be a good idea to take it to a reputable mechanic as 5.5 years is a long time for a car just to be serviced with engine oil and filter changes only

  • FYI, Kmart Tyres is now owned by Continental Tyres. Wesfarmers sold it off sometime back.

  • +3

Mechanics I speak to all say Kmart Tyes & Auto (now Mycar Tyre & Auto) are pretty sloppy with their services. Probably it's just isolated cases but I have heard it enough times from different people that I won't trust my car there.

Tyres however, different matter. Though as others have pointed out, their prices are already a bit higher to begin with.

I had a fuel pump changed there once, driving around seemed fine for a few weeks after.

One day I had to take my mum to the doctor. She was asking why the car smelt of petrol. As I suffer from anosmia I couldn't smell anything.

Took it back and they had fit the cap in the fuel pump incorrectly and had to do it again. They also showed me the part and it was not genuine Toyota which meant the O Ring wasn't a "perfect" fit.

A few weeks later I had 2 back seat passengers and one of the seatbelt buckles was recessed into the bottom of the seat so the passengers had to squeeze next to each other in my small Corolla. Had a further look when I got home and it turns out when they put the seat back on (which covers the fuel pump) they didn't feed the left side buckle through the seat. So I had to take the bottom of the seat out to fix what they should have noticed when they redid the fuel pump again.

I find with things like services and insurance a lot of the time it's just not worth trying to get the cheapest deal :(

      • Wow what a crappy experience. 😮 Yes that aligns with all the things I've been told. Mostly simple things missed or skipped leading to more problems down the road, pun intended.

      • same reason why i avoid tyre chain stores. had a bad experience with a Bob Jane Tmart where they treated my car like shit. my dashcam caught the (profanity) apprentice driving my car at speed over the hoist hump (i heard it from the enclosed waiting area). then they didn't have the tyre i wanted in stock despite me booking ahead. so the manager drove my car back out the front at speed in first gear because he didn't know how to shift gears.

googled around and decided to take a punt on an independent shop not that far away whose prices were just slightly more expensive and my car was treated with respect. i was even asked if i wanted to go into the workshop to have a look at the old tyres and we ended up chatting about tyre pressures and cars for quite a bit.

my mum, too, has had unsatisfactory experiences with BJT. the manager at the store she was a regular at was decent and always apologetic and keen to fix his useless employees' (profanity)-ups. not major stuff, but things like leaving grease on the steering wheel, missing valve stem caps and breaking her wheel covers…it's just not professional.

she now goes to an independent tyre shop (not the same one as me). the owner there isn't what you'd call outgoing, but he's polite, honest and doesn't overcharge. i've had him fix two punctured tyres that came with some wheels i bought off ebay. guess he felt sorry for me as he only charged me $20 to do both of them lol.

  • Just speaking to Amex online chat…. appears to be targeted.
Disappointing as I need new tyres!

  • i find it odd this is targeted, all 3 of my amex cards, including my gf's subsidiary one has it.

    …But no Michelin. No deal.

    • They can order them in.

      • Thanks I figured that out eventually.

Called them and they were willing to pricematch michelin pilot super sports.

if i can use 3 different cards for payment that will bring 4 tyres down to $994 fitted and balanced with lifetime warranty.

$248.50 for pilot super sports are almost unheard of :).

  • Had it on few cards and not looking to use.

Happy to help with no profit :)

  • Anyone ordered Bridgestone from them before? Intending to stack this Amex offer with BS's current 20% off offer. Cheers.

    • Did you eventually order Bridgestones?
