First time poster yada yada yada. $650 is a good price, usually hovers around $800. If you are the king of bargains, perhaps you can take the deal and get the usual suspects (bunnings/oficeworks) etc. to beat it by 10% or something.

Good deal, but FWIW if you can run an ethernet cable then also worth considering something like https://reolink.com/au/product/rlk8-410b4/. Higher resolution, no recharging batteries as they take POE from the NVR, not dependant on cloud etc. They have a sale on at the moment eg the four camera 5MP system is US$357 delivered (about $535). I just bought the 4MP version for US$313 ($469), well actually US$287 ($433) with a coupon - check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMaZXycZTMU for a review and a discount code (ytbreo8offcanewfiebort)

  • I have this set and it's a good price (it's been cheaper before IIRC circa $630) but even though it works great and I love that it's not a traditional IP camera but instead a cloud offering which has some resilience, my fear is that since Arlo spun off, they've tried to push various forms of subscriptions even harder with newer models pretty much requiring them to have full functionality. I found with my Arlo Pro 2, the CVR feature was spotty and unrealiable (i.e. didn't work at all much of the time) and I gave up, but I do wonder at what point will Arlo keep supporting me on their free 7 day plan for before they decide to just shut it off.

If they do, can't you just record to a drive connected to the base station?
