  • Mine gets quite a bit of use. I bought it with the $179 sale.

I cooked corn on the cob the other day and it was very quick and the corn was very juicy.

Thanks for the heads up OP.
I ordered this yesterday night for full price of $269 as I got impatient waiting for a deal. Spoke to Amazon via chat as I was unable to cancel from the webpage and they fixed it up for me.

    • Score. It is always nice when you get someone helpful.

Bought the Crockpot brand on Monday for $159

    • Thanks, looks like a similar cooker for less.

The larger capacity is great for larger families but for smaller meals I'm wondering if it's a negative?

      • +1

Apparently, no, it doesn't change how its cooked, might just alter the cooking time. We bought it to replace a dying Phillips one we have had for years.

    • Yeah I was considering the Instant pot but then this is bigger and cheaper.

Are you just paying for the brand name with regards to the instant pot?

Anyone see any other advantages to the InstantPot over this, maybe the components and the accessories?

      • The Instant pot has a stainless steel inner pot rather than a non stick coated one. I had a Breville go slow pro and found the non stick coating seems to hold the smell more than the Instant pot does.

There are reviews that compare the two.

I cooked fish porridge in my rice cooker which had a non stick coated pot. Had to soak overnight and wash at least 3-4 times to get rid of the smell.

          Hope this one goes better!

Last week it was on discount for $139. I don't need it urgently so will wait for next sell.. Thanks

    • Yeah you might want to be careful with that Crock-Pot Express range. Apparently they've been exploding and injuring people.

      • To be fair, it seems to happen to most pressure cookers, the risk is always there.

        • It depends on the level of safety features.

    • Unfortunately they don't sell spart parts for the crockpot in Australia, whereas Philips do.

  • Can pressurised deep frying ala KFC be done in this cooker?

    Thanks.

    • The seals on these pressure cookers are not designed for pressurized frying. Likely to fail at frying temperatures.

  • I bought it, forgot to use Shopback 12% :( no regrets!

    • Just cancel it and re-order?

      • can't was using Amazon Prime. Will arrive tomorrow

        • +1

          Damn that sucks :(

Could always hop onto live chat and ask if they can cancel it

        • You can buy again today and return the one that you will get tomorrow with prime free return..

  • How would this compare to the Philips one?

Philips seems to be bigger and a decent amount cheaper.

I bought the Philips one on black friday for $127-ish, but just curious how Instant Pot stacks up against it?

  • That's not a bad price. Wouldn't mind one but already got a rice cooker and air fryer.. too many appliances. Would be good for dry peas and beans tho

  • I havent looked closer on the gory details but why not buy this direct from Amazon US for less?

After conversion and even with gst, it will still be cheaper. Haven't checked the voltage yet.

I suspect American voltage and having to send the device back to America if there is an issue. I would stick with the local product.
