  • So can we assume the BASX S8 is exactly the same as the VOLL S8? The VOLL S8 is a crackin' little Sub so based on that the larger BASX Subs above should be great value indeed.

  • +1

Emotiva is a quality brand, reasonably priced and easy to move on if you dont want it.

    • I bought a receiver and seperate amp around 8 years ago. Pass the amp on, still use the receiver. Good brand if you can get it for a good price.

      • They used to be very well priced when i first heard of the brand. Looked them up recently as i had a need for a 2ch amp and they've gone way up in price

  • Thanks for posting op, I've been on the lookout for a quality little sub for ages

  • Great find! There are lots of great prices in their Clearance Store!

  • Anyone ever tried hooking this up with Yamaha YAS-108?

    • +3

Yamaha has line out, subwoofers have line in… doesn't get much simpler than that

Anyone have any feedback on the 12" sub? How does it compare to svs pb 1000? Seriously considering it at this price.

  • Heads up, many reviews point out port noise (chuffing). This is a sub for a small room, not recomended to be pushed for HT applications.

    • Would a 4x4m room be considered small?

      • Yes.

    • I read the feedback online about the port-chuffing on the Basx S8 as well, apparently it can be solved by plugging the port with foam.

Basx S12 & S10 use a slotted port which apparently minimises port-chuffing, so probably better to go for one of them for a larger room.

I also read another cause of port-chuffing can be the EQ being applied on the AVR subwoofer output settings.

      • AVR is just pushing too much of a freq out of its range. Eg lots of 25hz. A plug changes the way it operates, IMO its either a good or poor design, I used to tinker but would not recomend people try something and reduce the amps cooling abd cook it.

  • I am $500 poorer because of this post, got some Emotiva Dipole Surrounds. There's some cheap Martin Logan stuff on offer. Their motion tweeter really is something special. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks, bought the S12 and shipping to Perth was also $26.40.

    • Have you received the sub yet? If so, how does it perform?

  • Can anyone advise if the S10 would be a suitable replacement for a 10inch Wharfedale Sw-150 that has stopped working.
Looking at the specs, the S10 appears to be slightly better

The Wharfedale is 150 watt and has a frequency response of 35Hz - 110Hz (±3dB)
    The Emotiva S10 is 200 watt and has a frequency response of 27 Hz - 150 Hz (+/- 3dB)

The Wharfedales has a bottom fining port, how does that affect the sub when compared to the Emotiva's rear slot port.

Would be used for both movies and music.
