Samsung TV offer: Free Blu-ray player or free Foxtel iQ with Full HD TVs

50

With a 40" or greater Samsung Full HD LCD TV (A550, A650 and A750 series) you will receive a Samsung BDP-1500 Blu-ray player or Foxtel iQ unit via redemption. It is currently not confirmed if Full HD Plasma's will also have the promotion but definitely confirmed for the Samsung LCD range. Foxtel iQ requires a Foxtel subscription, if a subscription is not in place a free 3 month subscription will be included but must be maintained for a total of 24 months. It would seem that the Samsung Blu-ray player is the obvious choice unless you already use Foxtel.

The deal is valid until the end of July, and in August ONLY the Foxtel iQ will be available for redemption.

So if you're thinking about buying a Samsung Full HD this weekend, don't! Go in, negotiate a price if you must but don't pick up the TV or get it delivered until 1st July or the promotion will not be valid.

Note: The Samsung BDP-1500 is their newest Blu-ray player, fully supporting Blu-ray Profile 1.1.

  • Blu-Ray 1.1 profile is already outdated, Profile 2.0 is the current specification and the differences are hardware specific, ie a Firmware update alone is not enough to update the player to the current specification.
Sounds like a great way for Samsung to offload old spec Blu-Ray players.

The Sony Bravia/PS3 deal is the more future-proof way of securing a new Blu-Ray player..

  • Well I'm buying the series 7 Samsung in September so they better have a nicer special on then as I don't want their blu-ray player, I'll get PS3 for that, while my building doesn't have a foxtel connection. Meanwhile Sony is so costly you might as well buy the Samsung and PS3 for the price of the TV, though their high end model is only coming out in November.

  • Similar models to this blueray player are going for around $300 on EBAY so its essentially a $300 cashback. Good deal.

    • Be careful buying a bd-p1400 or bd-p1500 on ebay.

A lot of them are refurbs. To me a refurb is used, not new. Ask the seller.

  • So will this deal be posted up on the Samsung promotion site on July 1?

  • LG are also doing a promotion soon where you can receive up to $300 in the form of a Visa debit card. I will post more information about the LG deal tomorrow when I find out a little more about it!

  • Generally I've heard the LG's aren't as good as the Samsungs. Are the new line any better?

    • Generally, this is the case, especially with the old LG series. The 2008/2009 lineup is actually very nice, much better than before. You would almost go as far to say equal or better than Samsung. Best to check both out and not to have any bias towards any brand, see what your eyes tell you looks good. Play with the settings and see what looks best to you :)

  • Well if it looks as good as the Scarlet girl then I'm sold. Do all the new LGs have the red light?

    • Yep, most if not all of the high end units have the red ring which turns the TV on and off.

  • Awesome, I was actually going to get the a650 tomorrow, but I guess I'll hold off until Tuesday. Thanks for that!

  • The deal is up on the website,
