  • Nice deal, hope the ram can be upgraded.

It can be actually. Up to 32 GB in two slots one of which is preoccupied

      • That's awesome, very tempted now. Thank you.

  • Was going to pull the trigger but then I saw the 8gb ram. Still a good deal though.

  • Great deal, chuck in another 8gb ram for dual channel and itll be amazing.

  • How's the colour accuracy of the screen?

Not great gamut. 86% srgb on the 2018 version, and slow response times. Miserable 52% on the 2019 version.

Same story as MSI. Cost cutting in this area on newer models.

I'd say if you know enough to ask the question, avoid.

      • Cheers. I was looking for a compromise to do a small amount of work outside of home but while plugged in at home, I'm connecting an external display that is calibrated.

Have you checked out the clevo/metabox deals? Their Alpha-x might be more what you're looking at https://www.metabox.com.au/store/Alpha-X-Range/Buy

          • @lethological: Yeah I have. At the moment I'm good but I'm looking for a laptop for my kids. I just don't want to spend $1.5k on a primary schooler's machine but if you want decent graphics not just office and web browsing, it seems to be what's required. I'm holding off. Their school introduced BYOD this year with very little warning at the end of last year and for now I just took the crappy Acer laptops they already had and sped them up a little with SSDs.

Still I keep looking. The metabox machines look good but of course have their own weaknesses. The battery is a bit small, and while it's removable the spares are pricey. Plus for me that's fine but for a kid having to keep 2 batteries charged would be a pain I'd rather spare them.

            • @syousef: A gaming laptop is not suitable for BYOD. You want low power CPUs like a U series Intel.

          • @lethological: Perfect. Is this the only brand that has dedicated GPUs and 100% colour gamut?

  • Does anyone know when the coupon code expire?

Added the expiry date and time to the OP!

  • I just finished talking Lenova customer services. I have purchased a laptop 20 February and paid, and they believe it will be shipped from China earliest 30 March (unsure, could be later). The excuse is Coronavirus interruption their production.
I will contact them on Monday and looking for a refund.

This one seems like local stock so it will be shipped quick

  • I have been using this as a desktop replacement development machine since late last year. I loaded mine with 32GB of RAM.

Performance is top notch, much better than the T series i7 I was previously using, at the expense of poor battery life. Lucky to get 3 hours. Part of this may be that I can't seem to switch off the nVidia GPU easily without rebooting, which is apparently an artifact of running multiple external displays.

230W power brick is an alarming size, 1.1kg, was lucky to get a second one that I can leave at work.
