    Lowest price ever

    • In the description it says "249gram take-off weight is just below requirements for Drone Flight Licensing. (Unless it changes later)"

Does that mean people with the original mavic now need a licence to fly it?

      • +1

No licencing measures have yet been put in place (to my knowledge) but that is the proposal at this stage.

so yes, you may need one with the original mavic… and potentially everyone will. no one knows.

        • +2

Drone Licensing is incoming. Drone doesn't need to be registered if it's under 250grams. Flying for work will have to be registered regardless of its weight.
          https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone

      • 250g restrictions are for other parts of the world. In Australia you can fly a drone weighing under 100g almost anywhere (with some basic rules). Over 100g is more restricted, e.g. 5.5km from an airport.

For commercial use they have 2 broad categories, under 2kg and over 2kg. These both require a license.

And CASA can always change the rules, there's speculation they'll copy the 250g distinction the US FAA has, no solid news yet.

          https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/registration-and-accre…
This link shows that any drone weighing more than 250grams have to be registered. Even if drone is not registered you still have to follow all the drone and safety rules.

And yes CASA can change the rules at any time so it could be changed to include any drone.

You don't need a license at this time. It will start to be enforced later this year.

          • @JonoRay: OK thanks, didn't know. I guess it's good to be prepared.

It does say "in the future" without mentioning any dates, so nothing's changed yet.

Great deal, highly recommend at this price

  • Great price but the only thing what is putting me off from buying it is that it doesn't support manual video mode…

  • +11

If only I could fly it to Woolies to check if they had toilet paper

  • Xioami mi drone or this?

    • Mi drone is more stable, more range, battery life and better video and photo BUT it is so much bigger, heavier and doesn't have avoidance.

      • +3

DJI Mavic Mini also doesn't have built-in object avoidance / collision.

The DJI Spark has built-in object avoidance / collision.

I previously had a Mi Drone 4k, and sold it to buy a Mavic Mini.
      Pros:
      * Mavic mini is smaller and lighter - easy to put in a backpack or take as carry on
      * The DJI software seems more stable and is a bit more intuitive
      Cons:
      * Mi Drone can take still images during video recording; Mavic Mini can take video OR stills at one time

Both have similar flight time. I feel the Mavic mini has the edge in video quality, even though it's only 2.6K compared to Mi Drone's 4k. Both seem to have the same limitation with strong wind.

I've been very happy with my choice.

  • If only it was able to shoot in RAW :(

    Great price nonetheless.

  • How much could I sell my DJI Mavic Pro 1 for?

    • Probably $600 or so?

      • So not really an upgrade.

        • Yeah, depends what your needs are but the mini doesn't shoot 4k. I have the mini and it suits my needs personally, in terms of portability and battery life

  • I wasn’t aware of licensing was in.
Anyone point to a link please as some things you can search the web for hours (in my case) before finding exactly what you’re looking for?
    Thank you.

    • +1

That store only had 3 available. Not sufficient stock.

  • Is this the same model as the one with price error with OW previously?

    • Different model

    • that was the Mavic Air. Inbetween the Mini and Pro series.

  • OOS

  • Didn't get it but what is the rule regarding flying this? Any legal issues/restrictions to fly it here Down Under?

    • +1

Drone regulation rules are yet to be in effect in AU. No license needed yet, but will be enforced soon.

      check out https://www.casa.gov.au/

The Mavic Mini is just under the take-off weight requirement. Mavic Mini is 249g (Any drone with a take-off weight of 250gram or more requires licensing)

You'll need to register your drone or remotely piloted aircraft if you’re flying at or for work, regardless of its weight.

      • +2

If you're flying for "commercial gain" you will also need a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) and fly under a remotely piloted aircraft operator's certificate (ReOC).

      • Ta

      • The Mavic Mini is just under the take-off weight requirement. Mavic Mini is 249g (Any drone with a take-off weight of 250gram or more requires licensing)

        That doesn't sound right.

        • Drones and model aircraft that weigh more than 250 g will need to be registered.

You won't have to register if, your drone weighs 250 g or less (and it’s not being flown for or at work).

Take-off weight means the weight of the drone at take-off. (or lift-off)

  • damn i was asleep! nice find OP

  • Thanks OP, got it in time :)

Thanks OP. Plan to fly mine down to Coles every time I want to see if some TP is there.

  • Seems like DigiDIRECT's allocation of the stock on eBay was about 40. They might actually allocate more stock to eBay if they restock. I'm just assuming here but hopeful that more can take advantage of the deal. Chance of more stock before eBay deal ends?

  • In stock now!

    • Wonder how much additional they got as it's out of stock again

  • OOS again?

  • I’ve bought yesterday and has been marked as sent this morning.

    • Mine has also been marked as sent. Fingers crossed!

  • Thank you OP!! I missed out on eBay and have just purchased direct. Very happy!

People should note DJI Refresh (like Applecare+ but for drones) is also on a small sale too - $52 instead of $59.

From my understanding, it gives a first replacement drone (new or new-equivalent condition) for:
    - $65 on the first incident and
    - $75 on the second incident.

Seems crazy not to buy it given it's <10% of the cost of the drone, and ~20% even if you factor in 1 incident.

    THANKS OP

  • Thanks OP, missed eBay deal but just bought from Digidirect website. Much appreciated.

Thanks OP got one for my brother. Price matched at JB and used Suncorp's discounted giftcards, bringing the price down to $607.24

  • Just priced matched at Harvey Norman
    Thanks OP

    • Which store was that as online won't match it

      • Sorry I only just saw this today
        Was at Morayfield Qld

  • No stock left in WA :(
    Ordered it online though.

  • Just got an email saying the drone is back ordered and will take many weeks for it to arrive. Seems like Digidirect is back to their old tricks! Even right now, on their website it doesn't show the item is out of stock!

I doubt this will be honoured or you will at least be asked to wait a month or more for this to arrive. This should be reported!

    • Received the same response for my DJI Care Refresh order :(

    • I never received an email but emailed them asking for an update and they sent through the following.

Thanks for getting in touch with us. At this stage due to high demand, we are currently awaiting stock arrival from our supplier for the DJI Mavic Mini Fly More Combo. At the moment we should be receiving new stock from our supplier within the next 7-14 business days, and we will attempt to get your order out as soon as possible.

      • Had to email them and do some credit card verification check the other day. While talking to the sales person he said they expect a shipment to arrive this week.

        • Exactly the same except they hadn't processed my email verifying the CC.
Then told me out of stock, more 'this week' as it clearly hadnt been allocated to my order.
If I had known this is how they operate I would have price-matched elsewhere.

          • @khepri: Turns out their sales fella is full of shit, just got the "out of stock" email and to wait another week or two for them to arrive.

            • @RambunctiousRog: So got a shipping notification from Aus Post Monday, and it arrived today :D
              Hope you get yours soon!

  • Gotta be honest. This company has really annoyed me and I doubt they will get my return business. Been at least a week since I ordered. No shipping confirmation received in that time which I thought was weird. Called them up and they said that “they had been really busy getting through the backlog of orders”

I’m a pretty understanding customer, but common sense dictates that if you have a whole heap of customers waiting then you flick them a quick email explaining that. There really is no excuse for this, except for a lack of understanding of basic customer service.

Was told that there was plenty of stock and that my order will be fulfilled. Somehow I doubt that and I think my order will magically get processed when they get new stock in a week or so.

    • Just recieved a tracking confirmation email from auspost today. Tracking history shows it was posted on Monday, but Digidirect website says my order is still "on hold" waiting stock.
