Has anyone found genuine/quality OEM spare tyres? I've sporadically kept an eye out for spare parts since the $799 JBHIFI deal back in November. Based on other forums, Segway US has simply been telling people that tyres are not available yet. It's the main thing holding me back, as it seems risky to buy an $899 ($1200 RRP) product without common wear and tear parts readily available.

I purchased an ES2 from their shopfront (Milton, Brisbane) after seeing their eBay sale listing said you could have a test ride in store. They had spare tyres and in fact all parts available, as it’s also their service centre. Incidentally, they will match their eBay price in store if you ask.

      • ES2 parts or Ninebot max? If Ninebot max, that's great to know. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

All models, ES2/4, Max and Xiaomi M365. This was a month or so ago, but it was a question I asked as well before purchasing. The staff assured me that it’s the national service centre and carries parts, does warranty repair and can also service the scooter. They also convinced me to buy direct as apparently not all sellers are authorised outlets and warranty won’t be valid at the official service centre (FWIW JB Hi-Fi is an authorised seller).

Segway in the US sell a replacement rear motor assembly with tyre in their online store. It sells out very fast though, as they revised the design and it performs slightly better than the original stock motor. I don't think they ship internationally either.

it's the main thing holding me back

This is not legal in Sydney so that should probably be the main thing holding you back.

  • Do these allow you to take the battery out and charge it elsewhere? I can park it downstairs but have no power point available there so I would need to unclip the battery and charge it upstairs rather then try and wheel it through the foyer to the lift.

    • +1

nope, the battery is in its base.

Is this Legal in NSW yet? How is this compare with xiaomi 365?

    • +1

Illegal in NSW. Fines are approx $660 if used on the road, $330 everywhere else in public.

Ebay managed to sort out my account so the code works now, just have to decide whether to pull the trigger with this discount or potentially wait for something cheaper from JB HiFi. Any scooter experts who might be able to predict whether these will get cheaper in the next few months?

  • Curious how this compares to the M365 (Pro?), as aren't Segway part of Xiaomi?
Visually, the design looks similar, even down to the the folding mechanism.
Range (40km) & speed (25km/h) are pretty much on par as well.
Biggest different I can see from the listing, is RWD (Max) vs FWD (Pro), but that doesn't seem like a big enough point of difference to justify the significant price difference between the two.

The owner of the Segway corporation accidentally drove his Segway off a cliff in 2010, killing himself.

Not really relevant at all, especially considering he was riding a completely different product (an off-road Segway, rather than a scooter like this).

  • My housemate bought one about a month ago. When I skate on my penny board (one kick skateboard) the fastest I go is about 20km/hr this goes 25km so it's a bit quicker obviously you don't get tired either. I got jealous of my housemates ninebot so I bought a ownboard w2 for about the same price as this but it is taking forever to get delivered cos of the coronavirus.

They jacked the price from $1124 to $1199 :(

  • bugga, I bought from JB last week
