Its a free coffee and still bitching… whats next, maccas make you fat?

    • they are heathcare workers…that would be unhealthy. y dont u just spit in their face.

      • Hmm
Give them a small … if they go to the trouble of dropping in for this, they may buy something else while there, covering the cost of the small drink

    • You could get 2 small

  • +1

Does this mean Maccas will remain open?

    • I think marketing were fine-tuning their graphics when the NSW lockdown was announced. Maybe they'll deliver free coffees? Or be takeaway only like under the "London essential services" lockdown model. Or McDonalds will be a supermarket.

    • +3

Some would consider them an "essential service"

  • -7

Perhaps McChuckers can go into lockdown and stay closed permanently!

  • +3

How do they identify you as a health worker?

    • By:
      - being in uniform. Or;
      - showing work ID. Or;
      - Showing business card with ID.

  • Can't find anything online for this except for the UK.

    • It hasn't been launched in Australia yet

  • +2

The picture seems to be quite blurry.. Is there a link anywhere or a website we can see this?

    • It hasn't been launched in Australia yet

  • +1

Thanks for posting, can hit the drive through for a free coffee hit on the way to work everyday.

    • And a medium soft drink on the way home.

  • There are plenty of healthcare workers that don't work in a hospital

    • You don't have to work in a hospital to get it

      • Thanks. Sorry I didn't read it correctly

  • +3

Oh Doctors AND GP's, that's thoughtful of them

    • +2

      Gps are doctors…

      • +10

Oh what really? I thought they were just generally practicing

        • +6

Yes, GPs are doctors. It is actually a medical specialty where you have to do a postgrad training pathway to get into after med school.

  • +4

Since health workers are the only people with a job nowadays, they're the only ones who can afford to buy other stuff with these free promos…

  • It looks like NHS, so UK?

    • NSW is a state in Australia

      • 🤣. The only official online thing I found referred to the NHS, Couldn't find this on the AU McDonalds website, so didn't know if it was a thing. Free coffee would be good on my way to work!

  • +3

Whoa McDonald's, not too generous now

  • -7

I'm on a disability pension, where's my free coffee? Joking… I wouldn't drink their McCafe coffee even if it was free!

For those who have already had their taste buds burnt off I hope they enjoy their drink and would like to thank them for doing what they can to try and keep this under control.

    • +1

Take it you haven't had any coffee from there in the last few years. They really turned it around.

      • -4

        Was only three months ago…

I sat there going, 'This is burnt, this is burnt, this is burnt'. IT'S THE BLOODY ROAST! Was dark as charcoal!

Of course anything I don't make except the rare cup will taste like crap to me. Still nowhere near fully qualified but meh!

        • +3

Once you get the experienced barista, you may love it compared to a while ago up until mid-2018 when they revamped and resourced the beans. I work in Café myself and have never gotten any complaints, rather than compliments. So the quality of the coffee is dependent on your barista at the time of ordering.

  • +5

Pharmacists? Was absolutely smashed at work for the past week and a half

    • +1

      Great for business then.

      • +6

As an owner- the first 2 days was good; from then on it has been more than about money. A lot of people are worried about things that we shouldn't need to be if everyone acted rationally. I have given too many people rolls of toilet paper to my regulars from our staff toilets because of the behaviour of some.

As I said to one of my partners- I'd rather make less money a month ago and be how it was than how it is today. We are under a lot of stress to ensure we have the stock for those that need it most

      • cept the part where you're getting coughed/sneezed on, yelled at and generally just run off your feet with no to minimal breaks then sure, great for business

    • Try it anyway! Worst the manager can do is say no

      • and they wont, cos they would look like a total d#&k

    • +4

      I can't believe they didn't include pharmacist as a healthcare worker :(

  • +1

    time for some cosplay

    • +1

rocks up in French maid outfit and gets free coffee anyway

  • +2

Well I don't get anything from the stimulus… Small coffee! Woohoo!

  • Coffee sorted in the morning thanks. I'm not blessed enough to have a 7/11.

Though I don't care for patients. I'll just wear my scrubs and hope my work ID suffices :P

    • +1

Hey negger I went in today and it worked. I also serviced a ventilator today!

  • +1

Thank you to all our health workers, we're giving away exactly what we permanently do to students except negating the $3 spend as a one off!

  • +2

Just in time! I'm running low on beans for my AM coffee, now I can pick one up on the way to work. Thanks Maccas!

  • +1

What about us supermarket workers…(I'm joking)

    • +7

      You guys genuinely deserve something.

      • Yeah dealing with idiots hoarding and fighting each other in the aisles

  • +1

How come this isn’t publicly advertised? All we have is an internal memo.

  • +11

No thanks. I don’t have the patients.

  • +1

Seems McDonalds made the governments 'essential services' cut.

  • +1

Bah. No list for the domestic services, dock crew anx maintenance crews.

  • +2

Cool, I haven't got a penny from any of the stimulus. So I will enjoy my free small double shot soy latte.
Usually costs between $4.50-$5.50 depending on which Maccas I go to.

…full time job with the Health service would be nice, instead of 3 month contracts rolling over year on year

  • Drinking from those takeaway cups where the workers put their hands on the lids to secure them…. no thanks. I don’t want corona coffee.

  • Corner McCafe in Camperdown aren't a part of this

  • +5

I'm a sonographer working in a private practice. So, not strictly listed in the examples they give of what is healthcare. I had no trouble getting the free coffee on the way to work this morning, although they did make me pay $0.40 for the extra shot. Can't complain I guess.

    • Did they ask for your ID?

  • +1

Smithfield NSW said they weren’t doing it…

  • Worked in Macca's Eastgardens woohoo

  • +5

Thank you to all healthcare workers, you guys are the real heroes

Nandos's doing a 50% off meals for all healthcare workers

    • +1

Yeah, the other day at Maccas we were crowdsurfing some supposed hero - a bushfire first responder or some nonsense - when this valiant gentleman walks in wearing a stethoscope around his neck. Needless to say, we dropped Fireman Sam and held up the real hero.

  • Thank you to all healthcare workers, you guys are the real heroes

Nandos's doing a 50% off meals for all healthcare workers

  • /me lovingly clutches my Healthcare worker ID :D

  • +4

I'm not a hero, just doing my job I get paid to do
I detest idolising certain professions just because they perform a certain role in society
We should celebrate all who are doing it tough at this time, those who have lost their jobs, parents staying home to look after their kids, volunteers helping out the vulnerable in our society etc.
We're all in this together and we can only get through this by helping each other out

    • And that's why you're a hero.

    • Point taken, but this current crisis will elevant medical staff to beyond just doing their jobs. The sacrifice is going to be massive, and thank you in advance.

  • Five Dock NSW said yes, Drummoyne said no.

    • +2

      Contact customer service on 02 9875 7100
Advise them of what you've experienced and they'll put it right for you

    • But why did you go to both?

      • Maybe beacuse the first one said No

  • +1

Dapto Maccas no problems yesterday and today. Thanks!

  • FYI. They now charge for extra shots and flavoured shots.
