    No 20% off.

    • at checkout your will see the applied discount

      • Thank you. I didn't scroll down.
        Done.

  • -1

    LOL

  • Aren’t these basically useless… unless the wearer is sick.
Find me a deal on P2 masks

    • -1

if this one you deemed as useless then P2 mask is not much better.

      • +1

        Please explain

        • +2

People get hung up on the size of the virus, rather than the size of the droplet from people.

People are taking an all or nothing approach; but SOME filtering is still more effective than none; like putting a wet rag over your mouth in a fire.

          • @MasterScythe: I wanted to see how a P2 masks is “not that much better” than a surgical mask

      • +1

At least P2 masks are certified to Australian standards, what about these ones?

    • +4

We all going to be sick soon. Government has stopped retesting sick people to save tests.

    • They aren't useless, they are very useful just not in the way most people think (blocking airborne viruses from getting you).

      1. they are decent at catching your droplets of spit. It won't help you but it will help by lowering the chances for others to get sick.

      2. they deter you from touching your own face, rubbing your nose/mouth etc. Thus you are less likely to put the virus in your own mouth/nose if you don't have it, if you do have it you are less likely to spread it from your face to your hands.

  • +8

When considering a face mask, make sure it comes from a reputable seller and can produce certification. If not, you are buying in a hope and may as well sticky tape a 2-ply tissue paper to your face. There are so many fakes out there that try to capitalise on the current situation to make a quick buck.

    • +6

the middle layer should melt and I have tested it. and there is 3 ply when I cut it on a used one.

  • Good price, bought one Thanks OP

  • +19

These are not certified and WILL NOT prevent ANY sort of bacteria/virus going through. Best they MIGHT do is for someone who is already sick, other wise they are truly useless.

Also point, masks are ONLY good when they are dry, the moment you start sweating and they get wet, they become pointless.

The only masks that do work for viruses are the industrial N95 respirator masks and thats about it.

Don't give into the fear and over-pay for masks/tp etc.

    • +1

you are saying so many people around the world are over-pay and wasting their money on this kind of Mask?

      • +12

I'm saying THIS KIND is not certified in any way and its quality can not be assured. Those who buy PROPER masks aren't wasting money and they actually work but not these random ones you find online.

    • +1

Where is a good place to get the n95 respirators at decent price?

      • Not sure as most are going to hospitals and other health facilties so they are very rare to come by and most likely quite expensive.

      • Where is a good place to get the n95 respirators at decent price?

I bought some on Ali, arrived today. Took 14 days.

Make sure you get one with a plastic exhale valve. Expect to pay around uad$3.50 per mash shipped.

      • +1

Got mine from bunnings 2 weeks ago, 20 pack for $50.

      • -1

    • Pretty poor feedbacks about those masks unfortunately.

      • You sure about the poor feedback? Add some here?

        • +2

Copied from seller's feedback section (negative feedback within 1 month)
          - thin and smaller than au standerd facemask, price drop down 20.00 within 7 days
          - 假口罩,没有任何包装。两个塑料袋装的,口罩有臭味。(Fake masks without any packaging. Two plastic bags, masks smelly.)
          - Fraudulent seller. Not from Australia. Not in the box. Don’t buy from rip off.
          - In a week, the price dropped from $85.99 to $44.99 and no outer packaging.

          • @cookietime: argh…Ordered 2 50 packs from this seller and then ebay removed the item. Apparently i will get my package but this guy will open new store and start again.

            • @Ash SA: Ash, you bought from same seller as my above link?
              How is the quality?

              • @anonymoususer: I am supposed to get my package in next 1-2 days. I will reply here as soon I have my hands on it mate.

    • The seller itself is located in China though. Considering they can set the item location to be anything you never know. But hey I'm not saying either are a good or bad deal ;)

    • +1

      Don’t buy!
Mask to prevent virus must have meltblown layer in the middle.
This one is with paper filter ! It’s like made by tissue and doesn’t help at all. Using a piece of tissue to cover ur nose & mouth works better!

    • Anti Dust 3 Layer.

  • a simple test is the light test.. how much light shines though the fabric as well as a water test, can you water through them. These look like they will fail terribly at both test

  • Very expensive now. I remembered getting a box of 50 from MINISO for $5. Been using them for mowing the lawn.

    • +2

Can you go back in the past and get it for $5 now?

it is more supply and demand

      • It's more of greed to be honest

        • So priceline selling 5 for $20, who is greed?

  • +1

So any actual recommendations for n95 p2 masks?

    • Best ones I used so far are 3M 9322A+ Aura masks. Very very expensive but far more comfortable, high quality. Used these so called KN95 as well, pretty low quality and feel like may not be fit for purpose.

  • +4

"wear a mask when you must go out" This mask is not a P2 or N95 mask, pointless to wear.

    • +1

      Myth - see explanation below.

  • +5

Please don't buy from people trying to sell expensive products based on fear.

    • Unfortunately, if you look around these would be considered cheap now. Fear might have contributed to the price surge a bit but there's a worldwide shortage of surgical masks because they work to protect others if wearer has COVID-19.

  • +1

Sold out for me - that was fast!

  • +3

Joke of a price for just basic surgical masks.

  • +4

    Overpriced

    • +1

A few months ago absurdly overpriced, today however… underpriced, hence sold out

  • +1

    • +4

how do you determine the quality of the video advice?

  • Is it even surgical mask? what's the grade on it? any credible authority tested this?

  • -1

It's nice that eBay has a report function but I'm disappointed that they don't provide any mechanism for explaining why it's price gouging to claim virus protection for noncertified face masks.

Two weeks ago, a 100 pack of these masks was less than $20.

  • +4

just make your own mask, its better than buying fake ones or repackage a used ones online.

    https://diymask.site/

  • +1

These are not even remotely cheap nor will they stop the spread of a virus

    • +1

They absolutely do help stop the spread of THE virus, if the wearer has COVID-19. Few months ago = not cheap… Today = cheap. I don't like it anymore than the next person but lets face facts and stop spreading misinformation when people's lives depend on it.

  • +4

As a nurse in a Sydney metropolitan hospital. These masks will serve you better as toilet paper than protect you from COVID-19. N95 and P2 masks are the only ones that will work. However you need to know how to Don and doff the PPE in order it to work. The best thing is do not leave the house unless it's necessary. Do not stockpile P2 and N95 masks buy enough for yourself but we will need them to save your or your loved one's life.

    • +3

As a nurse in a Sydney metropolitan hospital are you saying surgical masks are useless to protect others if the wearer is contagious with COVID-19?

      • +9

As a nurse myself in a Sydney hospital, in community setting where N95/P2 masks are 99.99% unattainable, I would suggest wearing surgical masks for your protection and others. I was following government advice of not wearing mask unless symptomatic until a few weeks ago. The Clinical Excellence Commission suggests surgical masks for contact with patients of more than 1.5m apart (risk assessment) and N95/P2 for any procedures with higher risk which might imply the Coronavirus is airborne. Wearing masks is better than none. Please save N95/P2 for us healthcare workers. And please stay home :)

        • +3

i see these disposable masks as a supplement to the 1.5m rule when shopping ….once people start coughing and sneezing or talking directly into your face it might stop you inhaling droplets , and wearing a mask also makes people around you aware of the situation, unlike the bathers at bondi.

        • +1

A genuine question (no trolling) : How does this "us not buying N95" help you guys? Are you going to buy these N95 masks off eBay? I assume government supplies those orange colored ones to you guys.
I am little confused. Please ignore my stupidity in case.

          • +2

@Ash SA: There has been incidents of people stealing masks from hospitals and reselling them for profit. Back in February, I saw someone selling on Facebook boxes of orange duckbill masks. In my ward in particular, we have to hide all masks in locked up room. Government purchases masks from companies like 3M but with soaring demand from the general public, this comes with limited commercial supply. This is the problem US hospitals are facing right now.

            • +1

@hongco1990: @hongco1990 Thanks for the clarification mate. I am much better informed now.

    • +1

As a nurse in a Sydney metropolitan hospital you need to show us where we even have a chance to have a glimpse of a P2 or N95 mask. I swear I’ll only buy enough :)

  • Overpriced. It shouldn’t post in the ozbargain.

    • +3

Few months ago = not cheap… Today = cheap - hence sold out. Thank OP for posting as people's lives depend on it and there's not really another option for those who need to wear one to protect at risk loved ones they're forced to quarantine with if suspected of having COVID-19.

  • +3

I'm not so sure that these things are as useless as people say.

For one they stop fingers to mouth and two they presumably stop particles entering the airway in the unlikely event that you sneezed on or something by a carrier.

Mind you I'm no doctor and advice is to not wear them unless you are contagious.

    • +1

Not true - see explanation below.

  • +11

FACT: Wearing any type of barrier is better than no barrier.
FACT: Masks do work and offer around 80% protection as shown in one study.
FACT: Mask only for the sick is not true - it has more to do with prioritising masks for medical staff than anything else.
FACT: Asian countries have a culture of wearing masks unlike western countries, and as such have much less infection/deaths - look at Italy/Spain.
FACT: Not knowing how to use masks can put you at risk of infection.

    • +3

      True words bro

    • +4

Strongly agreed. Granted that a paediatrician and pharmacist from Asia and a lab manager in Victoria aren't specialists in immunology, but all said that P2/N95 is the best option, and surgical masks much less effective but still much better than no mask for protection of someone who doesn't want to get a virus that's in the air. They all seemed very confident that a well-fitted P2 mask was likely to provide not just some, but significant protection. And that given the choice between no mask and an overpriced surgical mask, they'd opt for the overpriced surgical mask.

These are not public health officers, and they weren't giving public health advice that takes into account the relative scarcity of masks and that the healthcare community might need them more than a sick member of the community. These were friends answering questions from someone with risk factors, whom they'd like to be able to have a beer with next year.

      • +2

Agreed, but I would not call P2 an “option” as it is close to unobtainable nowadays. So toilet paper mask for now, since some protection is better than none. Also- as others have mentioned, it can reduce spread from unaware carriers and that alone is good enough of an excuse to wear one.

    • +2

Well said, let people who say surgical mask is useless to suffer from the virus, this is how Italy get to this far today.

  • +1

    LOL
Some silly Billies seem deliberately ignoring the virus of COVID-19 can spread AIRBORNE,
And, there are already many people carrying the virus WITHOUT any symptoms.

Just pay attention to the bursting positive numbers of states everyday.

God helps those who help themselves.

    • god helped those who now have toilet paper, pasta, soap, etc.

  • How much is a certified disposable p2 mask worth these days? https://imgur.com/a/ZM46is5

    • +3

      brand new $7-$10
      Used $0
      Used pretending brand new $6-$10

  • Never thought I'd see so many MJ's around. Everytime I look at a person with a mask I watch and wait for them to moonwalk

  • I think the logic was that if you are not sick, then don't wear a mask, has this been changed?

    • +4

      Depend on who you ask

      Asian Yes 99% European 50% Australian 25%

Wear a mask to protect yourself and the others as there can be no symptom during the incubation period.

If everyone who coming oversea wearing Mask when they leave their flight or ship before self-isolated, our confirmed case may be greatly reduced.

Form 0 to 100,000 confirmed case 65 days from 100,001 - 200,000 confirmed case 11 days , from 200,001 to 300,000 confirmed case 4 days. By reducing the number just by a few early on it flatten the curve easily.

Problem is just that we are a shortage of any masks on Australia, people will be more panic if they can't source mask, which happened in Hong Kong in Feb.
