  • Didn't realise ATAR was a course you could do? Thought it was the name of the ranking you get after you complete your state's tertiary entrance exam?

    • We have revision courses in each subject, that overall contribute to your total ATAR score.

So no ATAR course exactly, but revision courses for the subjects that contribute to your total ATAR score after you've completed an exam in each subject.

      • Would these be for a specific state's curriculum? I assume WA by the AWST time on the expiry?

        • -2

WACE (before ATAR) was a WA based score, which was changed to ATAR which is a national curriculum. All the courses that we make are suitable for every ATAR student in Australia.

          • @RamboAz: Huh, you learn something new everyday! Didn't realise we had moved to a national standardised curriculum, still thought we had things like the VCE in Victoria and the HSC in NSW each with their separate curriculum which was then used to calculate the national ATAR ranking.

@trunks: Something isn't right with what they are saying, the differences in year 12 English, particularly the way it's assessed, is huge between NSW and VIC.

Chemistry and Biology have a lot of similarities though.

            • +1

@trunks: It was forced on the states by the Commonwealth. States like Queensland were far behind the standard of NSW. There are also standard textbooks for all of Australia instead on state-based textbooks.

The question is - why do all the states still have their own curriculum authorities?

              • @ColonialBoy: Hey everyone!

Sorry, you are correct, I spoke out of turn here. I've discussed with the Teachers inside ATAR Support and they've corrected what I had stated above.

The courses - while teaching similar concepts - are different based on the curriculum of each state. These courses are taught using the WA curriculum.

So while the ATAR ranking is national, ATAR Support content is focused on WA, but as you've pointed out above, some courses share a lot in common, so free education can never go astray.

I apologise for spreading misinformation, especially during this time. Thanks for checking.
