  • Did anyone succeed in enrolling? It kept bouncing me between amebconnect nsw (https://bosho.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au) where an account was created, and AMEB Online registration (https://exams.ameb.edu.au/accountholders/login) where my email/password is not recognised.

    • If you live in NSW or ACT you will be redirected to amebconnect NSW to continue your registration.

If you live in VIC you will be redirected to amebconnect Victoria to continue your registration.

      • And after I registered on amebconnect NSW and logged in, and went back to ameb.edu.au to enrol in a lesson, my credential was not recognised by ameb.edu.au (password is wrong; email address not found in "forgot password page") and I was sent to the registration page again.

        • Maybe worth trying WA or QLD and see if it keeps you within ameb.edu.au

Will I be able to play smoke on the water after the course?

    • +1

The riff? Probably not correctly. The guitar solo, definitely not.

    • +8

No, you will be banned from ever playing it

    • +1

No, but you might learn that the notes are played as harmonic fourths.

Thanks OP, this deal is music to my ears.

  • Do you get some sort of certificate at the end of this?

    • +3

No, only the course is free. To receive a certificate you will need to sit the exam, which is not free.

Rad. Thanks OP. I could use a refresher. I haven't really put much effort into my theory since I pretended to read the AMEB books when I was 18, being totally sure I'd get into music school easily, because I thought the music faculties would fall over themselves to have such a rad shredder who was definitely going to 'make it'.

    Spoiler: The weren't, I wasn't really, and I certainly didn't.
