Free Blinkist Premium Content for Existing Non-Premium Users (Top Blinks and All Blinkist Originals)

1140

Blinkist is a pretty cool service I've been using recently. It condenses non-fiction books into 15-min bite sized pieces that you can either read or listen to as an audiobook. You can get a taste of a lot of different texts, and come out understanding the main takeaways of the book.

I actually quite enjoy the free service, because they only give me one recommendation a day. If I like it, I listen. If I don't, I wait. Premium has too much choice… But now they're offering all of their content for free for a full 30 days (from today, not from sign-up). I found out via e-mail, and found this tweet. Happy learning, happy quarantining!

I think it’s just more content, not all content free?

    • the e-mail I received said "here's Blinkist Premium on us". I know the wording doesn't indicate that in the tweet, but that's what my email says, and what my app reflects. Perhaps it is to reward existing (free) users though?
Update: they also have audiobooks now!

I just signed up and lots still locked so may just be for existing customers or targeted

After logging in, cancel the window that prompts you to sign up to the trial.

    • Looks like it’s semi premium. Used when they had 60 day free trial and was pretty good when playing audio book driving in traffic!

Hi there! Our tweet is referring to select content for non-Premium subscribers. For the next 30 days you get our top Blinks and all Blinkist Originals for free! Audiobooks can still be purchased at the regular retail price. Happy listening!

How did you sign up for this? I have basic membership and can't see the way to opt in. Thanks

non-fiction Is that what Wikipedia is for?

    • +4

No, that's what library genesis and z-library are for.

link doesnt work for me. can't sign up… anyone with success?

    • i think i figured it out, it was confusing.

the deal is… "premium CONTENT" is available up to 30 days for members, not premium MEMBERSHIP. "premium content" excludes audiobook.

The "premium content" is instantly available, you don't have to sign up for trial or paid membership.

upvote if correct and to avoid confusion to others.

    Yuck.

Or if you prefer the blinkist version of my comment: yk.

A tiny bit of knowledge can be more dangerous than complete ignorance.

For instance, clive palmer giving medical advice.

Tbf, it is very useful to get the summary of a book before you read the actual book. Especially for non fiction books. Many non fiction books are full of fillers.

      • Exactly, that's what I use it for. Saves a lot of time filtering out the rubbish.

    • Yeah. Encyclopedias and wikipedia are the devil.

  • Thanks for sharing. Love this app.

  • Thanks OP.

Have been meaning to try this :)

Read this as Bikini Premium Contest. My bad.

This is probably how trump derives his medical "knowledge".

I'm getting only 7 days free trail and I need to provide credit card. Am I missing something?

  • +1

OP, how do you activate this offer? I've setup an account and it's set as basic as default with only a 7 trial.

    • Same here…

"Stop the podcast. Stop the podcast!!"

  • I don't see any "Free Premium for 30 days" option anywhere. Looks like its targeted.

    • I think it works for previous users only. I'm a previous user and I don't see any restrictions.

  • Downloaded the app, signed up using appleID, skip the trial and there some free books for start. Thanks OP.

  • I can see it is applicable until 27 apr 2020 for me but now sure if I download all the books, will they retain those purchases after the trial? I doubt they will. Including audio books.

    • I'm not sure, but don't think it retains those downloads. But if you own a kindle device, you can use the desktop Blinkist site 'send to kindle' feature, and the books will remain on your kindle after the trial ends and forever. There's a restriction on how many you can send in a month, I think it's 100 from memory from the last trial I had.

  • Looks like the free content is through app only.
