  • I would really love to impulse buy this—just wondering what sort of projects I could run on something like this?

Maybe a Pihole instance? Chat server? Something left of centre? Keen for ideas!

    • I liked the Pi-Hole idea as I currently rely on on device adblockers and using the CloudFlare 1.1.1.1 DNS. However out of curiosity I tested the ping of both from my mobile connection and intitial give me a ~80ms from these Melbourne servers and ~45ms from 1.1.1.1
I'm in Queensland so it might be understandable but no dice for me sadly.

    • Hey nickeveli,

Pihole unfortunately won't run on CPanel and IRC/Chat servers are banned on our services.

Although you can play around with WordPress or install your own PHP application :)

      Thanks,
      Dylan

    • It' a website hosting, you won't be able run your own apps.

  • My Mrs was talking about getting a website for her home business. Suitable to host it on here?

    • Absolutely!

      Thanks,
      Dylan

  • do u have windows server as well?

      Hey morediscount,

Unfortunately not at the moment. Although ASP is on the horizon :)

If you are in the market for ASP currently, UpTime have a decent Windows platform: https://uptimewebhosting.com.au/aspnet-shared-website-hostin…

      Thanks,
      Dylan

      • oh ok .. no worries .. was looking for .Net hosting

ASP.net* sorry should have specified. The above link should work perfectly for .net :)

          Thanks,
          Dylan

Whats the point of NVMe if you set 6 MB/sec I/O Limit

    • This is probably how it is calculated: (500GB Samsung 970 evo plus used as example)
      3500 MB/s ÷ 500 GB = 6 MB/s per GB
I assume that if you buy 20GB, you will get 20 times the bandwidth allowance.

    • Hi XSidd,

In the grand scheme of things, NVMe has a higher I/O value meaning there is a far less chance of I/O issues developing down the track.

For $8/year, 6MB/s I/O is the best price to performance we can offer at this stage and for the majority of small businesses 6MB/s is perfectly acceptable. Obviously we can certainly offer higher I/O if requested but it wont be for $8/year.

      Thanks,
      Dylan

  • Is this forever? Or just first year? Free SSL via Let's Encrypt?

    • Hey,

Forever (Life of the service) and yes to free Lets Encrypt certs :)

      Thanks

  • the code isn't working for me at all…

    • Hey everydayimbargaining,

Just tried on my end and worked ok. Can you please try again?
