Best Outdoor Security Camera Up to $500 for 2 Cameras

I have a crazy/junkie neighbour.
Basically i need a 2 x camera system. Preferably wired, as I've heard it's a lot safer. I've had a look at the Swan security systems and a lot of people have posted bad reviews. Willing to spend max $500 just for 2 cameras(front/backyard).

  • Just make sure you get a 4k version with night vision. the 3k are ok but you need the person or car to be close to the camera to make them out. Say at least 7m.

    • 3K??

      • It's what Swann use for 5megapixel super HD 2.4x better resolution than 1080p

  • Eufy 2c for sure. $399 from jbhifi.
    Great night time quality.

  • I have the swan completely wireless units. Assuming the wired also have the heat sense technology they should be good. I had an arlo camera before swan and it was sh*t! Would false alarm constantly. Realise that most cameras compare a previous image to a new image to work out if they should alert. So if the sun comes out the camera will see a change in image and alert. A plant moves in the wind, the camera will see a change and alert. Get the picture? You'll have 100 alerts a day and quickly decide to ignore them all. Whereas the swans with heat sense only alert when they detect a heat source, something actually alive. So when it alerts, you know something alive is out there (or zombies)

    • Guess real life reviews get down voted on here now

  • I have no idea where you have heard that wired cameras are safer. If you dont have concealed cabling, the cables are the first thing a crim will disconnect.
I highly recommend you go for an arlo camera system. From version 2 onwards have considerably better motion detection. They are wireless and videos are in the cloud for free (7 days or whatever) I extensively used the 1st version and was fairly happy with it. All videos in cloud is an amazing feature something you realise only when you need it. The motion detection used to start a second later than expected - but most crims are not in a hurry. For people complaining about false alarms, they just dont know how to configure their arlo. They regularly go on sale and can be scored for much lesser than $500. They do come with an additional cost of rechargeable batteries.

However, if you have a junkie neighbour, how do you plan to capture things thrown at you or your property ? No motion detection camera can detect and record a rock being thrown. If its for just this purpose, you're probably better off buying a constantly recording camera like a xaomi mijia - I think I bought one off a deal for 20 bucks. It was an indoor camera.
