  • How much to get something like this installed in a Series 1 VE Commodore? I did check, yes there's a facia kit

    • Dual zone, or single zone climate controls?

      • Single zone

        • Installation kit is the Aerpro FP9350BK for $424 (we'd do it for $339.20) then our installation of $250, so completely supply and fit, you're looking at $1,088.20.

You are right, I'm thinking about the next model up - I'll edit the post to match.

There’s more to screens than being really really good looking and I’m going to find out what that is

        • +3

How about a really, really ridiculously good looking screen?

      • What model would that be? Thought the 6350BT was the same resolution. I haven't installed my 5350bt yet but grabbed it as saw it was the same screen as the higher 2020 models from when I looked.

      • Guys! Like I said, we're here to play nice. Not jump all over an OP that literally said one thing wrong… I was thinking about the DMH-ZF9350BT when I was talking about the screen res.

Any deals with head units with dab+

    • +1

Keep an eye out, we've only just started creating deals for April!

      • Tops! I will keep an eye out for one with a dab+ but this one looks a vast improvement to their old decks.

        • but this one looks a vast improvement to their old decks.

You have no idea, I'm a died in the wool Kenwood man, but this range has me taking a second look!

          • @BankstownSoundMarine: Yeah I have been eyeing off the kenwood decks but my current pioneer has been good to me for quite a few years now but it has dab and I would like to upgrade it rather than lose a feature.

            • @janoski:

would like to upgrade it rather than lose a feature.

The new Pioneer unit with DAB+ that I'd look out for is the SPH-DA250DAB. The only issue is we're not sure when we'll actually get our hands on the stock!

              • @BankstownSoundMarine: Ooooh that does look nice. If you end up putting that on special I might just have to buy it

                • @janoski:

If you end up putting that on special

Haha, I don't like our chances with that. All suppliers are looking at everyone very closely until this #COVID leaves and returns everything to 'normal'

  • Heya, how much all up to get this installed on Lancer Aspire MY11 all up including $250 installation? (from Aerpro site):
Facia - Single DIN : Required
    Facia - Double DIN: Required
Steering Wheel Control Harness: Required, also requires radio brand specific patch lead
    Primary Harness: Required

    • Sorry, the Aspire MY11 screwed me here, are you talking about a 2011 CJ Lancer? If so you still need to tell me if you're Rockford Fosgate or not.

      • Oh Sorry, yep its still part of CL Lancer. Current headunit is Rockford frostgate MMCS (with display etc).

        • Again, you mean CJ, there wasn't a CL Lancer?

        • +1

Regardless, if we're talking about a CJ Lancer with the RF MMCS system - this will not be cheap for you friend:

          • Facia - FP8100 $109
          • Infodapter - CAMT01 $370
          • SWC - CHMB1C $264
          • Amp retention - MITO02 $329

Parts total $1,072, we'll do it for $857.60.

So parts, plus install, plus unit, you're looking at $1,606.60 supplied and fitted.

          • @BankstownSoundMarine: Hi yep by bad, is CJ (clearly showing how bad I am with cars here lol)

Thanks for the quick response, appreciate the breakdown of things needed and price offered.

Like u said it's not cheap due to the parts need. Would there be a better suited headunit for CJ lancer MY11? My main need are android auto, bt calls/media and controls on steering wheel.

            • +2

@anam: I think you'll find you need to spend $857.60 then add on any double DIN unit you'd like, it's always going to be very pretty much the same price for all of the accessories you require.

New cars just suck for replacement units.

            • @anam: I went through the same process a couple years ago as I have a 2009 Lancer, and was also shocked at the cost of all of the parts and adapters.
I ended up gambling on an AliExpress full Android screen, and I would definitely recommend it. I had zero experience or confidence in car audio installs and I installed the Ali unit myself (genuinely plug and play)

            • +1

              @anam:

Would there be a better suited headunit for CJ lancer MY11?

You misunderstand, it's not the head unit that's the expensive part, it's the parts required to make any change to your car. The $1,072 worth of parts is unavoidable.

  • How does this compare to the Kenwood units - like for like price/features range - ie a similar model in Kenwood line up?

I had read somewhere that Pioneer's quality has dropped a bit over the years, I'm currently running a Pioneer FH-X775BT and looking to upgrade to Android Auto. I've read that it's really nice to go capacitive over resistive screen.

    • +1

How does this compare to the Kenwood units - like for like price/features range

It's difficult to tell at the moment as Kenwood's 2020 range hasn't landed yet #thanksCOVID. In saying that, there's only ever half a car-length between those two. They're similar in more ways than they're not. This new range from Pioneer is high quality, it is an update and it definitely is a step in the right direction for them moving forward.

I've read that it's really nice to go capacitive over resistive screen.

Night and day, chalk and cheese and any others you want to add there. Capacitive screens are the best, it's like interacting with a Smartphone.

  • Hi Rep, Could you advise cost for installing it in a 2009 Renault Koleos. Thannks

We don't have access to anything enabling the install to that car at the moment I'm afraid.

  • Can you install in a 2004 Honda Accord euro

    • 2004 Honda Accord euro

Technically you can, however, each Euro we've installed anything into has been a pain and has caused troubles down the line. We're waiting on Aerpro to resolve the issue, but as with everything #COVID has slowed everything down and throw time-lines out of the park.

How much please to install on a Suzuki Swift 2016, retaining steering wheel controls with Bluetooth and phone?

Does the install price include installing the reverse camera as well?

    • Depends on what system you have currently which facia you'd need if any at all.

      • Not sure if I understood you correctly, but I haven't changed anything from the factory standard system

    • How much please to install on a Suzuki Swift 2016

With the parts needed Aerpro FP9216K, plus our installation charge ($250), it'll be $908.79 supplied and fitted

Does the install price include installing the reverse camera as well?

Yes, the $250 is for the head unit and the reverse camera.

        I got a cheap Wince unit before,when reversing,the music would stopped,and switch D forward,the music come back…

And is it better compare to SONY ax5000?
    any suggestion?

    • it better compare to SONY ax5000?

The DMH-Z5350BT is a better unit in almost every aspect.

      • Are you able to elaborate?

        • Capacitive screen for starters.

        • +1

          Are you able to elaborate?

The technology used in the making of this unit is current, not 3-years old as in the Sony. The build quality is better, the GUI is better, the sound processing is better, the screen quality (being LED) is better, the 6.8" bezel-less design looks better (at least in my opinion), and it has dual camera inputs and dual video outs (hater vision screens in your head rests etc.).

  • Can it be installed in HRV 2019 while maintaining factory lane change and reverse camera and the steering wheel controls? Appreciate complete cost. Thank you.

    • HRV 2019 while maintaining factory lane change

No, unfortunately no. Putting in an aftermarket system, at least at this time, removes that feature.

      • Ok thank you

  • Does this head unit have it own GPS receiver?

    • it own GPS receiver?

No, head units with built-in GPS very rarely are under $1,000

  • Hi OP, how much to install this in a 2015 Nissan Pulsar SSS Hatch (C12, Series 2)?

    Thanks!

    • 2015 Nissan Pulsar SSS Hatch (C12, Series 2)?

      • Aerpro APP9PIO8
      • Aerpro FP9135 Facia Kit - $17
      • Aerpro CHNI5C SWC - $106
      • Aerpro APP091 Primary Harness - $17
      • Aerpro APVNS01 Factory Reverse Camera Retention (if you have one) - $95

      I believe that's what you'll need.

  • +1

Really hoping to see a higher end offering retaining analogue volume knobs like the Sony XAV-AX1000… but looking at these trends, probably not going to happen. Every manufacturer just wants to boast larger screen sizes and have glossy uninterrupted renders :(

    • +1

      probably not going to happen

You're right, the thing, definitely for 2020 is getting the screens bigger. For instance, the Pioneer DMH-ZF9350BT is the flagship of the 2020 range and is essentially an iPad on your dash with its 9" screen.

  • This looks attractive but I find it a bit peculiar that in 2020 we can't get at least 720p res units for this price from the major brands. Is it easy to discern the pixels on this screen?

    • in 2020 we can't get at least 720p

A question that we've asked quite a bit. The answer always come back along the lines of screen quality and pixel depth is not something that anyone's trying to do. That being said, the DMH-ZF9350BT actually has a Full-HD 9" screen. Its something that I'd say in the next 1 to 2 generations will become the norm; like multi-phone Bluetooth, once a rare feature, now pretty much standard.

  • Am I correct in believing that you would only need a APP8PIO8 wiring harness to install one of these to an 05 Forester?

    • +1

you would only need a APP8PIO8 wiring harness to install one of these to an 05 Forester

That's right, and if your car has Steering Wheel Controls, you'll need the Aerpro CHSU5C for $106 to keep them. If not, then you're on cheap street!

      • Any chance of seeing any Android Auto head units on sale for closer to the $300 or less mark any time soon? Missed the recent JVC deal with super cheap and now I am kicking myself.

        • +1

Android Auto head units on sale for closer to the $300

As a Galaxy user myself, I wish I could be 100% and say yes. For some reason, all of the manufactures think that if a unit has Android Auto, it's mid-level to top-level. Meaning it's really hard to get the sell price close to $300 as our buy price is usually more. I can tell you that we're building April's sale list right this second and I'll try my best to get something as close as I can. Keep an eye out online for our ads when they launch!

          • @BankstownSoundMarine: Yea that is fair enough! I will definitely be keeping an eye out on your site to see how the specials go! Keen to get something to replace this stock head unit.

  • Hello OP. Do you have anything for the VE series 2, other than the huge Kayhan unit?

    • Do you have anything for the VE series 2

Not at the moment no. I don't think there's enough interest in the Series II for Aerpro to put time into making it. The Series I system took them a long time to perfect and it's ~$400 price tag stumps a lot of buyers, so I think that might have something to do with why they're dragging their feet with dev.

  • No wireless android auto, I presume?

    • No wireless android auto

      You presume, I stated ;)

Wired, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto for calls, text messages & navigation via compatible smartphone

  • hey mate, do you have anything like this to suit a single din? Its for an old car with single din pocket cut out of the metal dash. Ideally not a flip out screen but with android auto. Not sure if the big names do one, only alpine halo 9 but thats massive

    • I was going to say the Pioneer DMH-ZF9350BT is going to be your best bet. It has a Single Din butt and a MASSIVE Double Din face. But from what you're talking about, it seems like that'd look dumb.

In which case, I gotta tell you the only single din that we've got that'd be anything near this is the Pioneer AVH-Z7250BT which is a good unit, but there's absolutely zero room to move on the price.

      • Thanks mate, good info. The DMH-ZF9350BT looks nice, but agree would probably be too big. I've only got limited space on the dash where it can go unfortunately. Being a 1962 model, a massive screen isnt really an option. I've got an Android Joying chinese brand headunit which I think is 7" and thats about as big as id want to go. I do like the name brand and android auto idea, but unfortunately options are limited in single DIN

  • Hi Rep,

I'm going to buy a 2012 Forester soon and want to upgrade the head unit to something similar to this but cheaper, and also add a reverse camera.

Do you have any recommendations for cheaper units?

    Thanks!

    • +1

Do you have any recommendations for cheaper units?

We really don't like using that C-word. It's more fit for purpose :)

Ah, it really comes down to what device you're using. Apple CarPlay seems to be added to everything now from entry-level (Sony XAV-AX1000) all the way to the top of the line units. But when it comes to Android Auto, you only start seeing that around the mid-level units (this one for instance, or the Sony XAV-AX3000). I'd say, when you get your Forester, have a look at our website, there's always going to be deals on there with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto units.

Just keep in mind that before you do anything, you'll need to add the cost of the shop's installation (ours is $250 FYI) and the cost of the Installation Kit you'll need for that car. In your case it's the Aerpro FP9263K for $150, so you're looking at a $400 cost before you even select the Head Unit.

      • +1

        Thanks.

        I'm an android gut unfortunately!

Good to know about the initial costs - might be worth seeing if I still have a job over the next few months before splurging!

  • Ix35 fascia kit?

      • Aepro FP8365 for nav units
      • Aerpro FP9035 for non-nav units
  • Way off topic here Rep but is there anything in this sort of realm with high end SQ? I want to get with the times and replace my old school P80RS. Is the best option something like the AVIC Z930 or is there a good amount of flexibility/adjustment in the ZF9350BT?

    • +1

      high end SQ?

Not really, I mean, the sound that comes out of Pioneer and Kenwoods are amazing, but it's kind of one or the other. You get a unit that's all about SQ or you get a unit that's got fun stuff that 98% of the population wants.

There's a few middle ground units, but nothing I'd be happy to put our name behind saying so.

Sorry I couldn't actually be helpful lol

  • I currently have the FHX755BT unit in my car, utilising the APP8PIO5 adaptor. Can this one be used with this Z5350BT head unit, or do I need to change it to the APP8PIO8 adaptor?

I've tried comparing them on the Aerpro website, but they don't look that dissimilar to each other. What are the differences between the adaptors?

    • +1

do I need to change it to the APP8PIO8 adaptor

Yes you will mate, there's differences in the plugs and the pins.

  • Hi, how much to install this in a 2006 Ford Focus LX sedan?
