HP Chromebook x2 12.3" Detachable (5PY09PA) Intel Core M3-7Y30 8GB RAM 64GB eMMC $559 (+ Shipping / Pickup) @ Umart

190

I was looking for a few days for a Chromebook that was a decent step up from C340 specced variety that are ~$400ish at the moment.

It's been really hard to find good prices on Chromebooks - Carona + homeschool + not much from China I figure has driven prices up.

Came across this. Seems like hardware is better on almost all fronts.

CPU is considerably faster
8gb Ram.
64gb emmc
Higher res display

Also Umart have the lower specced version for $449.

    eMMC!

nowadays mobile phones are using UFS2.0/2.1/3.0!

    • AFAIK virtually all the lower priced Chromebooks are using it.

Kids cannot do homework on a phone either.

with Samsung DEX or Huawei EMUI they can..

  • Was bit cheaper before.

    You might want to wait

That was 4gb/32gb. This is 8gb/64gb

      • yup and this has a better processor. I have a Samsung Chromebook that uses the same processor and it is very smooth.

Bought the same one back in January for $499 from Umart, $559 is still a decent price for this Chromebook considering the shortages.

  • Great Chromebook and price is close to that $499 I also paid.

Been using it as my main wfh laptop with two external screens.

    • Yep was $499 in the new year, with the m5 version being $699. Oddly that is still $699 but the (probably) more popular m3 version has had a $60 price bump.

  • Processor is great on this along with the extra RAM.. much better than the other crap that seems to be standard on lower end Chromebooks. But not sure how well kids will treat these since it's not ruggedised and the screen/tablet mechanism looks a tad fragile.

  • Great 2 in 1, with caveats as a work machine . .
Issues i have are no MS Intune, if your employer uses it and in Citrix i have scaling issues possibly due to the high resolution of the screen . .

  • Would this be decent to just wipe and install Ubuntu or another Linux version on this?

    • As a Linux lover, I still need to ask why?

      • Chromebooks seem to have decent specs for their price, if I'm just going to wipe whatever the original OS is installed I want best specs for price

  • Price has changed it seems

    • Yeah. Lower spec'd one is still $449 though
