This game was listed in the Gearbox Published Sale I posted, Duke Nukem 3D and Homeworld: Deserts of Karak are also on sale too and worth a look.

Deserts of Kharak currently cheaper on GOG ($7.49)

      • Such a great game too. Went completely under the radar for most, what with RTS not really being in vogue atm. The whole series was the closest I got to enjoying a Battlestar Galactica-esque feel in a game, right up until BSG: Deadlock came out which borrowed heavily from the Homeworld series.

If you have HB choice it is $6.58 on Humble.

Its really sad that Cataclysm is not included. Apparently the original source code went missing so they were not able to remaster it. I remember playing a lot of the Homeworld games back in the day.

This game is my all time favourite.

  • Does this run on Mac?

    • +1

Only if your Mac has windows installed.

  • Shows as AUD $3.99 for me! (current subscriber discount perhaps?)

    • +1

Yeah its $1 cheaper if you have humble choice

  • never played this before but i enjoy scifi. is there a similar game to its gameplay? the trailer doesnt show much. is it similar to stellaris in gameplay or is it like starcraft singeplayer with linear missions?

    • +1

It's definitely Sci-Fi and pretty darn good one at that. It's an RTS, but on a 3D plane. There isn't really base building, but it has resource gathering, small ships and capital class ships.

  • Is there any other games like homeworld (already have the remastered edition)
Stellaris and Sins of an Empire plays like always zoomed out and just becomes like civilization in space, i just want massive fleet battles like a proper space opera.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident would fit the bill of a space Opera, but it's not massive fleet battles. You have one ship. And the strategy is bit of trial and error until you figure out what the designers had in mind. But it's pretty good too.

      • Agreed, Nexus is a brilliant game in its own right and even though it only shares some similarities to Homeworld (like 3D movement) it scratches the same itch for me in terms of storytelling and atmosphere.

It's also on sale for $3.62, definitely recommend it if you like Homeworld

Haven't really seen any other games that even come close to these 2.

EDIT: I should mention there is also O.R.B which is meant to be similar but I haven't yet tried it.

  • This was a good deal when I got it for $20. Highly recommended.

  • Had a blast playing the first one and replaying it a decade later. Looking forward to replaying the Remastered version.

  • how to play GOG on Steam, hoping to use Geforce NOW to play GOG on STEAM.

  • now this is bang for the buck at this price.
    =)

  • good memories - highly recommended to old & new players

  • Nice price, thanks OP! Not my kind of game but I'll give it a go.
I remembered Totalbiscuit did an amazing video on it when he was still alive, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqDz4CmiKwo
