  • Best product 14-15?!

    • Indeed, hence the clearance - although the sound quality and overall features is still very competitive overall! Sound wise is fantastic with HDMI ARC onboard too :)

      • Hi,

I'm considering buying the soundbar + sub for $999 - are you able to throw in the Bluetooth adapter as per the previous deal?

    • +1

Good speakers don't date like other tech

    I'd take 2015 B&W Nautilus over 2020 Sonos

  • +1

Can you please do better for the price with the sub?

    • +1

      This pls

      • +1

Have done $999 - lowest we can do!

        • -1

Is there a chance you could bring it down to $899, please?

  • I was wondering on whether sound bar is similar to having a centre speaker?

    • Yes and no it is all three front channels, really!

      • Ahhh okay, many thank's for the kind explanation.

  • Does it include the bluetooth adapter?

    • I would like to know too before pulling the trigger.

  • They drop the price of the soundbar by $150 (original discounted price was $749) but if you buy it with sub the discount is only $63 ! ( original discounted price was $1,062) - see the original post here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/489078.

$899 for both will be more attractive.

    • And since the bluetooth is excluded, it ends up being more expensive than the previous deal as the bluetooth is worth $220.

  • +1

The old deal is much better

  • Hell yes, just snapped one up. Even for its age, these things crap all over modern soundbars in the SQ department. Especially at this price point.

  • Can we confirm the Bluetooth,

I'm interested in one of these bars and my understanding was that the Focal Dimension always came with a Bluetooth adapter?

    • Guess I'll let you know when mine arrives today šŸ’Ŗ

  • no adapter as far as I know

  • I'll confirm that it does NOT include the Bluetooth receiver, so factor that into your buying decision. For a six-year-old soundbar it craps all over the Samsung I've replaced it with … I get what people mean about high-quality audio gear!

    • +1

Thanks for the updated info Tony.

    • Which Samsung did you replace ?

      • +1

I used to have an old Series 3 one (K360), and then I borrowed my neighbours HW-Q60R while he's overseas. The Q60 didn't really sound all that much better than the K360. This Focal is a work of art. Definitely does not need a sub, that's for sure. It's quite boomy but clear.

  • Can this be used with a Panasonic OLED and not compromise on any of the latest tech/drivers?

Its quite thick at 11.5cm - can a 65in tv sit directly ontop?

    • I'll answer since I've got it going now. I'm running this with a wall mounted 2019 Samsung Q75, this sits on the cabinet beneath it. I don't think you'll be able to put this under a TV that's not elevated in some way.

I use this through HDMI ARC, though it's only HDMI 1.4 (pinnacle in 2015). If you're planning on using this as HDMI passthrough (eg; connect PS4 to soundbar to TV), it won't transfer above 1080p. So all of your devices will need to be plugged into the TV, then use the ARC port to connect the TV to the soundbar.

I have no issues with the ARC and remote turning the TV/soundbar on and off. Highly recommend this bad boy.

Thank you for the reply :)

My TV currently sits directly on a cabinet. Sounds like I'll need to mount it on the wall - which is easy enough.

My living room is about 5m X 7m - do you think the soundbar will be suitable for this size room?

        • My living room is about 8x3m, and I've got the distance setting on the back set to 2 (there's adjusters on the back). It definitely fills out space quite nicely, I imagine it'll be the same as yours. I have the volume around 40% and it's PLENTY loud.

I purchased a Focal Sub Air to go along with this, but it occurred to me that you could buy the Dimension sub (A2A also sells it, $999 for both) and your TV might be able to sit on top of that. Just check the dimensions of your base.

          • +1

@fluffymurderball: Great - thanks for the replies. Really appreciate it.

          • @fluffymurderball: Hi mate, with the focal sub do you know if it's the Air that is comes with?

Or can you link me with a picture if the sub it comes with?

            • @Suspect420: No, the one that A2A sell is the Dimension sub. That sits directly behind the soundbar and the TV rests on top. Have a look here;
              https://www.focal.com/en/home-audio/home-theater/dimension/dā€¦

The Sub Air is super expensive but worth the cash. There's also the Cub3 which you can find in a few places.

              • +1

@fluffymurderball: Thanks for all the informative info @tonystarkindustries; you pushed me over the line so I just ordered one :D

                • +1

@Ayanami: You're welcome. Super happy with mine. If you get the "card" style remote and it doesn't work, give the guys a call and they'll send you the updated remote that does work. If you have a Samsung TV and the ARC doesn't turn the soundbar on (known problem with Samsung's), run an optic cable from the TV to the soundbar in addition to the HDMI ARC. Makes it work perfectly šŸ’Ŗ

  • Looks like my unit may be DOA … The remote doesn't work (new battery, and confirmed IR transmits fine), so I tried the Samsung IR remote. Still couldn't get the device to respond to remote commands. Lastly, tried an All in One remote. No dice. I think the IR receiver in the unit is dead … Reached out to the store for assistance.

    • +1

Just like to say that I received my system very quickly. However, unable to use the remote as well. I've tried different batteries as well.

    • +1

Heard back from Focal directly. There is no programming for the remote, all Dimension remotes should work with each other without any coding. If the remotes don't work, the problem is with the unit itself. Needs to be returned :(

      • +1

Will have to wait for our communications with A2A and see how it could be resolved. This is the almost definition of a first world problem!

        • At least we have plenty of toilet paper! šŸ˜‚

    • There's a new remote that A2A have. If anyone has the issue with the remote not working, let the guys know and they will sort you out with the improved one! Very happy šŸ¤˜

  • Would people suggest this over YAS408 or Paradigm PW EOL Soundbars?

    • I personally think this definitely would trump the YAS408.
