    Woohoo! Cheers

  • click on the link for ios. nothing happens and where to enter code ?

  • Click on the link and it asks for a code

Enter the school license you have been given,

Don’t follow this, who gives the code?

    • +2

      The code in the OP.

      • Silly me
        Face palm emoji

Awesome. Worked for me on ios

  • Also waiting for a discount on his Magnus Kingdom of Chess app for my kids. Hopefully soon!

I'm not seeing anywhere to input the code after clicking on the link on iOS, am I missing something?
    EDIT: Nevermind, working now!

    • install it, and open the app. Then you will be asked to enter the code.

      • Doesn’t ask for the code on iPhone

      • +1

Strangely, it didn't ask the first time, tried again and then it asked. I did turn off my ad-blocker though.

  • Doesn't seem to be working on stupid iPad. Clicking on the link (schoollicense) takes me to a zendesk help article.

For those interested, there are free tactics trainers by Chessbase, chess.com, and lichess. I also just found what appears to be a web-based version of the app: Chessable. You have to sign-up (free) and it has openings, endgames, strategy, and tactics.

To see Magnus crushing people online, check out some of the youtube videos by chess24. If you're really interested, then you can subscribe to chess24 for a chance to play the world champion during the banter blitz events. Otherwise, you can settle for someone like Peter Svidler :-P

Nice suggestions! I would like to add an Australian-owned site ChessTempo, which is my favourite for pure tactics training.

      • How do you know it is Australian? I had a bit of a look and couldn't find any evidence. It seems to be maintained and developed by someone called Richard D - who is that?

  • Thanks mate, worked just fine on my iPhone

  • Awesome, thanks!

  • Awesome, worked for my iphone.

Wouldn't work on android, said code was invalid, fixed it

  • Thanks OP. Worked like a breeze in the iPhone but iPad didn’t work! I could see that someone else was also complaining about the same. I uninstalled from the iPad and reinstalled with the credentials from the iPhone. Works now. But still it shows that I can buy memberships in the membership place. Not sure what I miss and it force closes itself from that page. Anyway thank you.. will see what it misses

  • +13

How long does the subscription last for? Is it lifetime or for a year?

    • Or for a month?

    • +1

Mine has just expired. So, it was a trial

  • Thanks OP.

Followed the above instructions on the iPhone and wasn't taken to anywhere/can't see anywhere where I can apply the code.

    • +1

open the link under step 3

  • +1

If uninstall how can I retain membership?

  • Turn off VPN then re opened the app. Then I could enter the promo code.

  • Thanks. The Android instructions worked perfectly.
Message me when the coronavirus is over as I probably will lose track of time playing this 😜

  • Works on my iPhone, my android phone, but not my iPad!

    • It wouldn’t cross link between devices even with restore purchases
The link does say you need to activate on each individual device

Update: the link suddenly worked and I could enter the code, keep trying I guess?

  • +1

It didn’t work for me on my iPad either, it came up with the same Zendesk article, but worked on my iPhone.

After mucking around for a bit, and noticing the iPad app was an iPhone-only app, what did work for me was peeling off a tab in Safari into an iPhone-width split view (so drag the divider from the default 50/50 split to an 80/20 split), or alternatively into a slideover view, then typing the OP link into that tab. Might be some chicanery on their web server with different viewport sizes redirecting to different places?

  • so the ios app will only work on an "iphone"

  • +1

Was only a trial. Mine has just expired

    • +1

Same. Not advertised in the post and not evident when you activate.

At least I now know I wasn't the only one.

In retrospect, seems that this deal was from chess 24 https://explore.chess24.com/trainer/

Use code "INVITATION" to use Magnus trainer for free throughout the Magnus Carlsen Invitational.

The Magnus Carlsen Invitational ends Sunday May 3 so the deal's ending was a bit premature. We don't even know who Hikaru is playing in the finals yet, Magnus or Liren Ding. https://www.magnuscarlsen.com/en/invitational
