Can you cancel the contract before the 12 months is up?

    • Yep :) The $390 is what you'll get charged for doing so.

I personally found that, if you transfer to a month-to-month plan, you get charged no ETC.. But it could come down to personal circumstances. Best to ask the live chat agent if there's any charges for doing so.

      • +4

        They’ve patched that loophole.

        • +5

Well, when you get 20 millions calls from Ozbargainers getting into a plan similar to this and then changing it to month-month..

          I'm not surprised.!

      • I haven't been able to get through to live chat agent at all recently….all automated bots.

  • +2

    Looks like a great deal

    • +3

      Sounds like you approve.

      • +1

        Indubitably

  • +1

wish jb will do something like this when pixel 4a comes out.

    • The 4a will suck because the 4 sucks. 3a was a great device because it was almost as good as the 3 which was pretty good, but at 2/3rds the price

  • whats the catch with these deals, i understand the whole signup thing then break the contract and pay the fee for early termination. is there a catch? so this phone id end up literally paying $539 if i cancel the contract. im with vodafone so how does that work with my #

    • $539 for a new S10! Wow. I am sure they know many will cancel the plan immediately but why are they ok with it?. What are they benefiting from this :/

      • +1

If you do it enough times then they flag your account. I recall reading a comment of someone who registered for five plans and is now banned.

        • +1

That happened to me. I think I had gotten 2-3 handsets and then 5x $400 gift cards. The last gift card was a struggle and any further attempts were stopped fairly quickly at any (different) store I went to.

    • You can get a new number and then cancel that contract. if that doesn't work then activate a $2 sim the day before and transfer that to Telstra.
That is what I am planning to do :)

      • ah thats a good idea! what is the phone is locked to telstra?

        • +2

No. There's also a credit check.

          • @Ughhh: righto, cheers for the info, appreciate it.

          • @Ughhh: Of course but the credit check doesn't depend on the service you are porting across to Telstra, it depends on how good are you at paying your bills and loan repayments.

            • @bargainbuyer11: …. They perform a credit check. Too many credit checks on your file may look bad if you're looking to take out a loan later on. Whether it affects you or not, I dont know and I don't care, but it's a psa to be aware about.

        • +1

no the phone is not locked to Telstra. Its a regular retail model.

  • saw the deal earlier but this banner add at bottom of the page, says $149 off S10, thought what rubbish lol

  • oh hopefully they will have a deal for the S20 plus too!

    • +4

Not sure if TGG have anything, but JB is now $649 Upfront for the S20+ :)

      • Where did this deal come from? I see on their website it says $799… Thanks!

        • +1

On the 5th tile on this page, looks like they decreased the cost tonight :)

          • @doweyy: so $650 + $390 ETC and phone is yours?

            • @jedimaster: Good for anyone who couldn't get it directly from samsung EPP for $1029 outright

  • +1

Does anyone know if tgg are still doing these deals for iPhones or have they expired?

  • Says minimum cost $929 at the bottom so I think the ETC is a bit higher. Still a very good deal

    • That's min cost on TGG end if you are connected for the whole plan, but once you're with Telstra their charge is $390 if you want to cancel early :)

      • +1

Interesting… Curious, How do you know they're going to put you on that byo plan? Anybody done that before?

        • It's the same as if you're taking out the same sort of plan at JB, they put you on a BYO for 12m and make you pay upfront for the phone.

          • @doweyy: I see.. thanks for clarifying. Excellent deal then!

  • Can i add any unlimited international talk and text add-on?

    • +1

From what Telstra have told us, they’re unable/unwilling to add on international calls/texts to these plans. You’d probably be better off finding a plan that includes them, or terminating early and getting a cheap prepaid/month to month plan that has them.

      • Hi slowey… Had issues signing up for my wife today as she is in Australia for past 2 years and they wanted past 6 years address in Australia to sign her up… That's weird.. Really wanted to sign her up.. Any ideas to overcome this…?

    • +1

you can for an extra $10/month by calling Telstra after the plan is activated.

      • The ETC $390 can be higher if you add international calls?

        • don't know because its a month to month add-on. I have that enabled on my $45 Telstra plan which was discounted to $25 because I told Telstra how terrible their service is where I live.

          • @bargainbuyer11: wow, how did you do that, i've been trying and they just keep telling me to get nbn or pay for an antenna

  • Whoah. I think this is the better deal instead of the pixel 4 xl deal

  • looks good. thanks.

  • Still waiting for the jb deal where you get an option to pick up a 4k Hisense tv to be honest, that was one sweet sweet deal!

    • It was only for Hisense 43” couldn’t get a 50 or 55” unfortunately

  • Wow was $699 few months ago @ JB.

    • Ignore me. that was S20 for $699 this is the S10.

  • +1

I like how jb put the price up on the iPhone XS Max 256gb from $1399 to $1999, for that price you can get an 11 Pro or Pro Max

  • +1

Whats the quickest/cheapest way to port out of Telstra post paid plan (finished contract) without visiting brick and mortar store?

    • For quick / cheap / not visiting a bricks+mortar store – I’d say you have to pick which 2 you like best.

      1. Quick and cheap — grab a $1/$2/$5/free non-Telstra SIM starter kit from your servo, supermarket, post office, or wherever is closest to you. Then activate the SIM and port your number to that service.

      2. Cheap and not b+m — order a SIM online. But with Easter public holidays, and coronavirus staffing/shipping delays, your chances of quick might not be great. FWIW, Optus’s site still offers to ship the next day if you order before noon AEST.

      3. Quick and not b+m — have someone courier you a SIM.

      • Legend thanks

      • Optus Sim needs you to put credit in order to activAte

        • Nope. You just need to tell the operator which plan you are planning to recharge.

          • @id: Do you call and activate then I take it? Rather than activating online?

  • What does "Available to port-in Telstra customers only" actually mean, you must be an existing Telstra customer? Or you must come from another carrier and port your number to Telstra? Sorry if dumb question!!

    • Also curious

      • +4

You need to port in from any other provider except Boost and Belong. Pretty sure those two are excluded.

    • +2

You must port-in a number from another carrier.

      • Would this deal still be available to an existing customer to port in another number?

        • +1

Good question. I have a Telstra number and was able to port-in another number from Optus when I bought a phone from Good Guys last year. I did the same thing again on another similar deal at JB Hifi. A friend told me he tried to do the same and was turned away. I think most stores will let you do it though.

Great price, Galaxy S10 is a good phone, but Exynos 9820 is rubbish.

    • +2

For anyone interested in the speed difference

    • -3

Do we know which one this is? Product page on TGG site mentions both..
Edit nvm it's the shit version

      • Australia is always an Exynos market for samsung

      • +1

"shit version" is such a stupid descriptor.

        • ok

  • -2

S10e was 99 on the same plan 6 months ago..so this is actually not that great

    • +8

You do realise that S10 > S10e as overall?

      • -1

50$ extra for the s10 def worth it imo

      • Yes I do, but this is 6 months later and 50 dollars dearer. S10e is no slouch, infact lots of reviewers and users prefer s10e over S10

    • S10e is lite version doesn't have full function like s10

      • Smaller Battery, Smaller Screen, fingerprint reader on side and missing one of the cameras.

The only notable differences, runs the same specs etc

S10 worth the $50 more but S10e was worth it to have 6 months ago

        • Smaller is better for some of us.

  • Do we get the bous $400 eGift Card as shown on this page? thanks :)
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/telstra-mobile-and-broadband-…

    • +1

This is different promotion. You can only do one promotion at a time

      • thanks youngmoney ^_^

  • S10e is the lite version of s10

    • But the S10 lite is even lighter.

  • -2

Grab this one and you will be paid addition $1600+ as breaking the rule "non-essential" travel.

    • You buy phone for essential use.

    • You're working from home
      You don't have a landline
      Your phone stops working
You need a phone to be able to work
It's 'essential' that you go and buy a new phone in order to keep working

  • Anyone managed to get $10 port in credit?

  • why this phone is better than plexis 4?

  • +5

Sadly, all Samsungs here are Exynos. I won't buy any Samsung phone until they ship us a S-dragon. Lol

    • Does it matter if I don't play games?
I just want smooth web browsing/normal apps like fitbit, combank, etc :)

      • Battery life, especially idle drain is worse than Snapdragon these days.

That being said the S10 is not bad from what I can tell of my wife's phone.

      • SoC isn't just about speed. As mentioned above battery life can be very different. Even the photos taken by the snapdragon vs exynos phones can be quite different.

  • Sorry for the silly question :) I'm supposed to port my number to Telstra at home before visit a Good Guys store right?
Or you just rock up and they setup everything there?

Thank you great aussie BBQ bargain hunters.

    • -1

Yes. And just FYI, JB started enforcing 30 days away from T before you can access porting deals. This might be the same.

      • I got this deal this morning despite it being only about 15 days since I ported from Telstra to Aldi. I'm only getting the phone on Saturday as my local TGG didn't have stock and I didn't want to drive 80km round trip to get it from another store that had it.

    • +1

No. You need to be with another provider for 30 days minimum. When you head into store they'll port your number to Telstra. If you port to Telstra prior, you won't be eligible for the deal.

      • I got a optus sim just today. So are you saying i cannot go to TGG to request port into Telstra and get this offer. Also which day do i cancel the contract so I pay the ETC.

        Thanks

        • Yeah, you need to have ported out for 30 days. I got caught out when I tried to get one of the previous offers after porting out for only 7 or 8 days.

          Not sure about cancellations sorry.

      • I ported in from Aldi this afternoon on this deal after being away from Telstra for just over 2 weeks

    • +1

Do NOT port to telstra before you go to TGG.

      • +1

I just got the telstra sim now..phone will be delivered in a week as they have run out of stock. so my question is when do i cancel the contract to pay for the ETC ?
