Dell Laptop Will Take 4 + Months to Be Sent Is This Reasonable/Can You Do Anything about It

I purchased one of Dells business laptops in February

They apparently didn't have any further stock of that particular laptop (which they failed to inform me until I called to follow up 3 weeks later) and offered their newer model as a replacement which they claimed Id be getting by mid march. I agree with it.

I try calling and emailing them several times after this but no one can give me any updates and claim this one particular agent is working on it and that hed be getting back to me - but he doesn't despite my efforts until literally the day that Im suppose to receive the laptop and tells me he needs to organize the model and get the team to approve the new version - claims he called me - absolute bs and I tell him to check his emails that he not once responded to - long story short they organize it finally but now Im being given an estimate of another 1-2 months before I receive the laptop as its coming from overseas. Theyre telling me the new time frame is basically to build the motel - which still hasnt started and then wait for postage.

I understand things have been crazy across the globe but I don't think my issue was related to this given they had for some reason assigned just one person to deal with the order- and for some reason he didn't finalize the order itself for over a month despite my attempts to contact them several times.

So the question is, can I do anything about this lengthy delay which Im honestly sick of or am I stuck with it ?

Short of flying your private jet to wherever Dell makes laptops, and whipping the people making it to get them working faster, then taking it back, I'd say your best recourse is a refund if you don't want to wait.

    • So…you are saying we have these options available? hmm….

      • You'd probably have to go in to some sort of quarantine for a few weeks or more once you land over there though…

  • Why don't you cancel it if you're not happy and buy something else?

  • I used to work there, and these things happen from time to time. My advice is to simply cancel the existing order, and reorder what you want instead (even if it's the same thing). 99% of orders flow through the system without hiccups. Reorder and be part of the 99%.

  • Dell runs on a build-to-order system. So unless that particular config is in stock, you'll have to wait. It always took a few weeks, but it's probably worse now.

If you take it up with customer service, they might bump you up to free express post, but you're still going to have to wait for the build.

  • yeah i regretted buying dell a while ago. soooo long to ship. and not from australia

  • You don't have any recourse except to cancel and reorder and hope that works OK
But understand you've invested a lot of time in this particular order… and they won't necessarily honour your original price!

Wouldn’t recommend building motel’s in this climate!

    • Maybe Dell was branching into other sectors and they thought he was ordering their new Dell Inspiron series of Motel's…. Common mistake :P
