10% Cashback on Coles/Myer Gift Cards, 10% Woolworths/McDonald's/Costco etc on Top of Other Discounts + More @ Crypto.com

551

edit: 10% not 20%, sorry guys I messed up with the Coles Myer discount. Oh well, still a great deal imo.

It acts like a debit card, with other some other beneficial products. Essentially you deposit fiat cash (or crypto) into it and spend it.

You can also use it as a Crytpo Wallet and Borrow against your Crypto (Using it as a quasi credit card), rates 8-12%. Or you can simply gain interest on your Crypto deposits, like a quasi savings account, but with better interest rates.

There are different Card Tiers, check them out. I feel Ruby is the sweet spot for value to those new to crypto, or those who just want a deal and don't care about crypto. If one were to have some decent holdings, chucking some in one of the higher tier cards makes sense for some added benefits (such as earning interest on your 'stake')

Pros

  • Flat cashback 2% with Ruby (1%-5% with other colours) on all card spending.
  • Rebate for monthly family Aus Spotify with Ruby (netflix/prime/others with other colours).
  • 10% cashback with Woolworths/Coles for 3 months, CAPPED AT $50 USD equivalent per month, afterwards reverting to standard 2% cashback.
10% STACKS WITH GIFT CARDS - at least Woolies through the entertainment book
  • For full list of others (Maccas/Woolies/Costco etc) 10% Cashback see here
-There's an active Oz & NZ chat/community here

  • 3.5% credit/debit card fee wavied for cryptocurrency purchases for all users for 3 months. There are ways to get around this standard charge, but this makes it approachable for newbies and convenient for the rest of us.

  • $50 USD equivalent referral bonus signup. Get code below.
  • Shiny metal card…

Cons

  • need to use, perhaps learn about Crypto at least a little bit
  • need to "stake' 50 MCO (ruby card) for 6 months. ~$320 (50 MCO * $5USD current price, minus $50USD signup bonus). This involves buying their coin and keeping it with them for 6 months. Obviously you're at the mercy of the crypto market over those 6 months for the value of those $320.
  • depositing money to crypto.com can be tricky. To do it easily, you need a Visa. They can't accept Australian mastercard. You will also be hit with a bad FX transfer rate, unless you use a bank account/card that gives interbank FX rates. There are other deposit options than Visa however, all with advantages & disadvantages.
-FX risk, They're Singapore based and use SGD/USD or GBP?. You deposit in this money, so are vulnerable to FX fluctuations. However, when you spend form the card, their FX rates are interbank, so you pay no fees, spread or commission. However apparently they are close to launching with an Australian banking partner so when that happens new cards will be issued out to us that will then have the default currency in AUD.

"crypto is a scam, these guys are a scam"

It's not and they're not. They're almost a billion dollar company. For $320 I think it's worth checking out, if their service has any kind of uptake, which given their offering seems to me extremely likely that money is going be worth considerably more. If it doesn't even with the spotify it will pay for itself and you can shout (or even charge, this is ozbargain lol) your friends and family spotify and get some brownie points there.

Thanks to 8urt0 & gothebroncos for the help getting me into it!

If the ozbargain referral isn't working, feel free to PM me and I'll hook you up.

    • The free card is pointless - if you're interested in this deal, then only the 50/500 stake options make it worthwhile. Otherwise the rewards aren't really worth bothering with…

    Looks interesting.

    1. Do they take a fee to convert AUD to their coin (MCO?)
    2. When you buy something in AUD, do they take a cut converting from MCO back to AUD? Is it at the exchange rate?
    3. What’s the 3.5% credit/debit card fee? I don’t see it mentioned on the website
    4. Do they charge a fee when you want to convert MCO back to AUD and withdraw to your bank account?
      1. No
      2. No, it's at the exchange rate
      3. The cost to transfer money from your existing debit card into the crypto.com platform - this fee is currently waived so it's 0% at the moment
      4. You don't withdraw to your bank account - you can spend the AUD directly from your crypto.com debit card.
  • Is this a credit product? Ie. does it incur a credit check ?

    • No all cards are loaded with your money as in direct deposit

overly complicated and possibly a ponzi scheme with those interest rates…

  • If they launch a AUD version with a local bank will the cards be the same, eg same MCO Conditions for cashback etc?, and if we sign up to these ones now can we switch it over easy if it launches,

Also I notice the US version has Apple Pay I think if you have. US iTunes Account and add a card to your wallet it should work,
It also has google pay and Samsung pay

    • The MCO card conditions will be the same i.e. stake amounts, interest, cashback etc. The only things that could be different are some platform features which will ultimately depend on legislation for the region you are in. Hopefully Australian laws allow for the entire platform to be available to us once it launches locally.

From what I've seen of users who have had the platform launch in their countries, the switch from Singapore issued cards to their local issuer has been seamless. Their Singapore issued cards are deactivated and the local issuer sends out a replacement within a week. The only downside is that your current card will be deactivated immediately while you wait for your replacement to come so you won't have a card to use for a few days.

  • Anyone received the card yet? My card was sent out on 22 April and I still yet to receive it in Sydney.

Roughly how long it takes to get to you guys?

    • Three days if they sent it DHL and gave you a tracking number.
If you have no tracking number then they sent it normal post and virus delays mean international post is sloooow right now.

    • Mine was sent by DHL Express on 29/4. Received it yesterday in Melbourne.

Tracking number is provided in the Card tab in the app.

      • How did you get them to send by DHL?

        • They just do sometimes, not sure why they use normal post for others !
          Mine came DHL too.

    • Does card status in-app show 'Issued' or 'Shipped'? If issued, they haven't sent it yet. If it shows 'Shipped', you should have received a DHL tracking number.
Contact their in-app support if you case is the latter.

      • It says shipped since 22 April. I am trying to get them to send another one by DHL.

  • Referral link doesn't work, goes to https://referral.crypto.com/signup?_branch_match_id=78927367… then it ask to enter the referral code and email address

    • If you are having issues after entering the referral code and your email address, an alternative way to activate the referral is after you download the app and register. Once you have registered, you then have 10 days to enter the referral code within the settings section of the app.

  • Feel free to join the crypto.com community channels on either Discord or Telegram. Great place to ask questions and have them answered by staff and other users of the platform from around the world. There are plenty of Aussie users on both of those channels including me (Discord only) and we're more than happy to share our experiences or pass time with random chit-chat.

    • Anyone have an invite link to the discord server handy?

You can also access any of their social media channels via their website. All of the social media links appear as icons at the bottom of their main page.

  • can i earn interest on fiat currency with them or is it on cryto currencies only? i have fiat currency with nexo which earns 8% daily and invested funds are 100% asset backed. im still on waiting list to get their mastercard. how does this mob compare to wirex and nexo?

    • Not on fiat, but you can on fiatcoins, like USD Coin, TrueUSD, PaxGold, TrueGBP/AUD/CAD etc. A 3month term on TAUD/TUSD is 10%, no term 6%. T no term stuff pays weekly. I have some CRO with them at 18% for 6months (which I locked away to use the syndicate deals and for some reason it just keeps going up) and some TUSD, I'd probably have more with them, but I'm a bit bearish crypto right now, so limiting my exposure.

It's probably pretty similar to wirex & nexo. Don't know, I never got past the signup with Wirex and have never got that far with nexo.

  • So I have just received my Ruby card. Now I am bit confused by the currency that I am meant to buy in the Crypto.com app for me to use on my shopping, spotify, etc. I press Top Up and its topping up to $SGD. Do I then exchange that to $AU so that I can use it from my Ruby card?

    • +1

No need, just top it up with SGD.
When you spend with the card, it automatically converts to AUD with each transaction. The balance stays on the card as SGD.
This all happens automatically - all you have to do, is top up then buy stuff.

  • Are most of these benefits ending 30/6?
Any point signing up now objectively?

    • Only the 10% cashback for Woolworths/Costco/ALDI is ending at the end of June.

You'll still get the free Netflix, free Spotify, Airport Lounge, 3% cashback on every purchase and 5% back on Coles/Myer/JBHiFi gift cards if you go for the Green or Indigo cards and stake 10000CRO in addition.

If you already hold some Crypto then it's a no brainer really.

  • Does anyone know whether you can buy Coles Myer gift cards with Myer egift card?

  • FYI Top ups with credit card have been temporarily suspended due to the issuer's (Wirecard SG) parent company Wirecard AG going into insolvency. You can still use the card and top it up with crypto. Hopefully CDC find a solution/new issuer soon.

    • Which crypto would you suggest to buy for topping up? I'm new to crypto and quite confused now how to top up.

      • +1

Since there are no CC fees, the best way is to buy MCO directly from the Crypto.com (CDC) app using a supported credit card. Ideally an intl fee-free Visa debit card like ING, UBank, 86400 etc. Note: MC is not supported for buying crypto on CDC. You can then instantly top up the card with the purchased MCO.

If you cannot do that then you will have to buy a low transfer-fee crypto (LTC/ETH) from an Australian exchange like BTCMarkets or Independent Reserve and then transfer it to your CDC wallet. You will end up paying some trading fees this way though (0.5-1%). Somebody else may know of a better way.
