    Great deal! Thank you

Is there a way to "attend" and get the exam ticket, then study later for it and use he ticket then?

    • +2

I intend to check-in for the course and hope they don't look too hard at the duration and interaction I do.

For what it is worth, the online course is usually free and if you get the exam voucher, could be a good way to self-stufy afterwards.

      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-au/learn/paths/azure-fundament…

NOTE: The exam will 'change' on May 28. (I dont know what this means).
Also note, that I believe that Pearson VUE (the exam proctor) is currently closed due to COVID 19.

TL;DR: Be aware that the exam may change (I don't expect it'll change much for a fundamentals exam) and you may not be able to complete the exam straightaway.

      • +2

Ive taken a Pearson VUE exam (AWS) this week. They are operating remotely.

      • +1

Can someone confirm if you can do the exam remotely from home?? When does the voucher expire

        • +1

I did this exam last week remotely. It is quite strict you'll need a quiet room with nobody in it, clean desk, and a webcam/audio. You need to install Pearson's software and you need to take photos of your setup. Someone will call you through the application and view your setup (kinda awkward have to turn the webcam around) ensuring phones etc. are out of reach. Whilst the exam is on you are recorded on your webcam and audio to ensure you don't leave or get assistance.
Think my voucher was for 90 days.

          • +1

@SCL: Thanks for confirming mate. Normally how much does the exam cost?

          • @SCL: Was this exam an MCQ?

    • +3

If you don't mind staying up until 2am, you could probably get a screen recorder going on a PC and watch it later in your own time (during your WFH time)

You'll need to wake up again for the 2nd session to record that annoyingly enough. Not sure if you can just pre join and have that recorded also

  • +1

    Did anyone else get this?

Thank you for your interest in attending an upcoming Microsoft event. Due to the popularity of this event, your registration cannot be automatically confirmed. You will be notified by email if there is capacity for you to attend.

      My response was:

Thank you for your registration. This email confirms your registration for Microsoft's virtual training. This training consists of multiple sessions, so be sure to block your calendar using the links below. You will receive separate emails, one for each session, in the 24 hours prior to each session's start time. To access the virtual training, you will need to click the link in the session-specific email. Please note, the link to join each session is unique by registrant and should not be forwarded.

      • Same for me as well with my personal email address :)

    • Try with work mail if you have one. Got this -> "You will soon receive a confirmation email with a link to participate in the webinar.".

      • May have something to do with me registering for the longer format in May? Ah well :)

  • I downloaded the ICS files in the confirmation email. The first session registered as 5pm AEST, is that correct?

    • +2

I also got 5pm to 8pm and then 9pm to midnight AEST

      • What did your time quote? This is what I got.

Which converts to 2AM AEST. Would much prefer the time you got but not sure how to change if even possible.

Edit: I clicked on the calendar link and yep, it populated with a 5PM AEST start. Nice one!

        • +1

Have you guys received your unique link to join the training? I haven't yet. Not sure who I can contact.

          • +1

            @Tomaus62: I haven't either. Didn't realise until now. Starts in 10 minutes.

          • @Tomaus62: The same here, got the confirmation that I have been registered but and that I will get a link 24 hours before the start but no link yet :(

            • @pauper: @pauper , thats just sad! false hope! I 'm not sure who to contact, reaching out to their support team is so difficult too.

            • @pauper: same here, waiting since 5 pm then thought maybe the 9pm link will be given but nothing yet

      • Yes same got those times as well. Those can be done no need to stay up

    • yup.. got 5PM-8PM and 9PM-12AM

    • I'm glad to learn that I'm not alone.

      @BluBoy
So, is it going to be 5pm or 2am AEST?

So what’s the point of the course and certification? Any practical value or just something to chew time up with?

    • +6

You can brag about it on LinkedIn…

  • If they update the course, do you need to resit the training?

Also is the training just watching a webnair or will you be instructed to complete tasks?

    • Boeing released a new 737 and the training was just watching some videos on an iPad. Look where it got them today.

  • +2

Thanks mate, I was looking for the same for a long time, But didn't have any free time slots in Australia for a long time now :)

      Thanks for sharing
Is it just a link to YouTube in a git repository? (Genuine question, am I missing something? - on my mobile right now)
      Direct link to YouTube channel
Also confused why the videos are initially numbered xx/63 and now xx/50

      • YEP, just a link to youtube

  • That exam is optional. Hence why they'd give it for free.
    https://www.whizlabs.com/blog/azure-certifications-path/

    • +1

The exam is definitely not optional to attain AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification.
Even your own link says that.
What Microsoft means by optional is that it is not mandatory to gain higher level certs like AZ-300 etc.
This cert is valuable for those just starting out in Azure or even Tech Managers.
      Here is Microsoft official link
      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/azure-…

      • -1

Rewording then: that certification is optional, hence why it's free. If you're starting Azure or a tech manager, then the free training is enough.
Except of course if you want to show off on LinkedIn. Or fluff up your resume.
But again if you're serious about being an associate or engineer, no point wasting your time or money sitting for that exam.

  • Just having Microsoft certified gives you the tick of approval.

  • Thanks op

  • I did the physical instructor led training. I think its better to study that and then self study on the website and youtube then take the exam.

    Hey guys.
I passed this a while ago and I strongly recommend Whizlabs for the practice exams.
They are cheap (around $15 USD) from memory, and are similar enough to the real exams, but are legit (not a braindump).
The team there are based in India but quite responsive when I have reported issues (wrong answers etc).
Plus their exams have links to their answer directly to Microsoft Docs so you can check and learn.

It is not a particularly hard exam, but a great way to start to learn Azure.

FWIW - IT guy with 20 years experience and a lot of MS exams.

    • +6

Thanks for sharing! Whizlabs is offering have 50% off sitewide with code WHIZSITE50

  • Thanks OP!

  • Nice, thanks!

  • a FREE exam voucher

    I love exams !!!

    • Do you get negative scores on exams too??

  • +1

Just got an email with the following

Thank you for your interest in attending an upcoming Microsoft Azure Fundamentals event. Due to the popularity of this event we are unable to accommodate all participants.
Please refer to the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Learning Path, until we are able to schedule more digital events.
    We apologize for the inconvenience.

Does anyone know if we still get the exam voucher?

    • I got the same email.

    • Same. Pissed off.

    • I got the same mail :(

    • got the same email.

  • I don't think I'll bother with it if there's no exam voucher

  • Deal link also redirects to 12 module online course now :(

  • How do they not anticipate a lot of people if they’re going to give away free exam vouchers. At least cap the amount of people. Very weird bait and switch.

      got our data :P

  • Missed out damn

  • +2

Anyone got the email with the join link yet?
Says within 24 hours leading up to the date so might be a little early still.

    • +2

      Not yet

      • +1

Yeah still nothing through even now…. bit strange.

        • Please keep us posted. I haven't heard anything either.

        • I ended up with nothing except the confirmation email from 9 days ago.

    • +1

I haven't got the follow up email as well. Strange

First email mentions: You will receive separate emails, one for each session, in the 24 hours prior to each session's start time.

      • Same here. Never actually heard back with the link for the webinar ?!

    • Zilch yet… guess I must have been booted.

  • Only the email I received was a confirmation of registration notice that says an email to access the virtual training will be sent for each session.
The first session was supposed to start at 9am but after all I didn't get the email…
Also, couldn't find how I can contact for help.

    • +1

You probably got booted like a lot of other people. Check your email on for 16/4

"Thank you for your interest in attending an upcoming Microsoft Azure Fundamentals event. Due to the popularity of this event we are unable to accommodate all participants."

I'm mighty p$ssed off. I've taken a day off work to do this. What I don't understand is how you can be confirmed in one email and then oversubscribed later.

      • I checked all email folders including spam but couldn't find that email.
        I also set aside 9am - 4pm for the training. A huge disappointment…

        • +1

I'm in the same boat msk - I definitely didn't get an email cancelling and I got onto this pretty early after it was posted.

        • Title of the email is "We apologize for the inconvenience, your event has been cancelled"

          • +1

@freesteakknives: Thanks, I just checked for that and don't have it.
I think they may have missed some people at this rate….

            • @Deviner: Me four. Got a confirmation, and definitely no cancellation. Yet no meeting links. Set aside time and planned around it, was supposed to start at 5pm. Bugger.

  • +4

There's a new date (17th June) to register for if you have the energy

    https://info.microsoft.com/WE-AzureINFRA-WBNR-FY20-06Jun-16-…

    • So I registered for the new sessions. Annoyingly it's after the change to the exam. I also noticed this

      "This event is pre-recorded."

  • +1

Did anybody actually get the link to join the webinar?

My confirmation email said webinar links would be mailed out 24hrs before the training and supposedly the training commences in an hours time, but I'm yet to see the link for the 2 sessions.

  • +4

It's now 30 minutes until the course was supposed to start and I've not received an email about it being moved/cancelled. A little ticked off because I made some provisions to be able to do it tonight

    • +2

Same. Hopefully they meant 24 minutes before the training :)

  • did you anyone get the link for the session? i have not got any and the webnir is due to start in 15 mins

  • As with many others, I received the confirmation, no cancellation but not yet received an invite. Hopefully they sort it out and maybe reschedule, I’ve signed up for another training at a later date but was hoping to get it done ASAP

  • I'm reading a reddit post about it now.
    https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/g289vt/a_note_abo…

Hi, there is an upcoming training today. I saw some post that they receive cancellation but i didnt receive any. but i dont receive the training link as well

how will i know if ok or not?

"If you didn’t receive the join link it’s likely your event has reached capacity. I’m sorry for the inconvenience but know we are actively working behind the scenes to build more events as quick as we can!"

  • +1

I'm not seeing any sessions links what is going on? All full disappointing

  • Me too here finding link to join live training session!

  • +1

Same here, no link in the email.
I did get an email from Kristin Meyer | Automated Solution Assistant almost everyday tho in case my team needs some consulting… Is she a robot?

    • Same here. It looks like advertising to get contact for Azure sales lead to me. These sales emails were sent to my custom email used to sign up the 3 days training session on May 11 / Webinar How Teams at Microsoft Embraced a DevOps Culture.

      • I believe so. That's very low of Microsoft it's like handling out freebie but not giving enough seats.

Stuff MS really. Covid-19 you not ready MS…. Same as what Bill Gates said

    • Must be a bot. Got the same emails.

Can you imagine all the details they harvested?

I’m pissed that firstly they cancelled the course which done over MS Teams / Skype / Zoom / whatever can be classified as oversubscribed.

And second, they use the opportunity to use your contact details to push for sales opportunities.

      • Should we just reply to her with the same message and point her to this thread? :-)

  • Wha I got a calendar invite but no join link either?

  • +5

Another disappointment here. Very busy day at work, trying to finish everything for 5pm training, just to realize no email from Microsoft despite prior confirmation…

    • Even worse for me - I have forwarded and suggested others to get registered - and all are stuck waiting for the link to join. Such an embarrassment.

  • +2

Let's all go study AWS or GCP to get back at them!

    • For free maybe….

Perhaps start a twitter account spam to say MS failed to offer enough capacity for training during covid-19 offer that should get some traction.

Make sure you use VPN and use a untraceable email etc heh
