Drakes were happy to sell them..

He should have offered a refund of half the purchase price and resold them for the same amount. Screw over the guy who hoarded them and get them in the hands of people who actually need them.

      • Screwing over the guy that bought them would be to give them nothing and let them wallow in their 4,800 rolls of toilet paper and 120litres of hand sanitiser, then make a video about the idiot, putting it on the internet and laughing at the hoarder about it…

The same fate as the guy in the US with 15,000+ bottles of hand sanitiser that got his account suspended on Amazon and went crying to media about it and subsequently got ROASTED! :D

  • But but Pauline Pantsdown told me Ayeshens were the cause

  • Who Dunnit?

i think my neighbour name is Mr Dunnit Donnan

    • +5

He amassed them by using a team of 20 buyers.

      What is the charge?!

      • +1

How dare you! Get your hands off me!!

        • +1

Ahhh, I see you know your Judo well!

Is toilet paper panic buying over? Hope so because I will need some in a few weeks.

    • +2

Every supermarket I've been to has heaps. Seems that's not the case everywhere though. Otherwise Amazon is frequently restocking.

      • +4

I've only been shopping twice in the past 4 weeks and both times there was none (my last trip was recently).

      • +1

Every one I’ve been to has nothing. It’s unbelievable that these giants could not fix this issue in 7 weeks now

        • +1

Ditto. I've seen paper towels and tissues, but haven't seen toilet paper since mid-March

          • @kerfuffle: Melbourne CBD and Fitzroy have had heaps for the last couple of weeks. Might depend on where you are.

            • @try2bhelpful: A good 900km from there. I bought quite a bit last time it was on sale, so I should be OK until Winter I think

              • @kerfuffle: Hopefully you won’t need to wait that long. They will, probably, be swimming in it soon because the producers would’ve tooled up and will be over supplying.

                • +1

@try2bhelpful: They've been saying that since the shortage started - "we'll be back to normal next week"

                  • +1

@onetwothreefour: I am starting to think that Coleworths did not really modify their delivery orders with the main producers. They have delivered whatever they have by contract and obviously is not enough right now. That or the tree plantations ran out

                  • @onetwothreefour: I’m sure if they could get more product they would’ve; the amount of stock being sold was crazy. The difference is I’m seeing multiple places with a fair bit of stock. Maybe Melbourne has been lucky. The shortages are sanitizer, pasta and flour now.

                    • +2

@try2bhelpful: They're not "lucky", the supermarkets are just sending stock to the biggest population areas. Regional areas are getting nothing.

    • The Woolies and Coles in my area has had plenty of stock for the past 3 weeks.

Still on pre-CV19 supply. People need to cut out all the fibre. Processed food goes through like a jet stream and bareless touches the sides ;)

    • +1

without fibre, you'll be holding it in for the entire length of the lockdown

      • Was gonna say… Processed foods don't streamline the process, it usually turns it into 4 inch lead cannon balls that you have to squeeze out through a 2 inch barrel…

I've been using my fingers for a month and then there is this selfish prick.

Do you really trust what this Drakes guy says?

  • I read that TP manufacturers are concentrating on larger packs first, as it is more efficient for them to package and ship. The problem is, that means only a limited number of consumers have packs available to purchase.

Same with some other items people were hoarding; I've only seen 5kg packs of flour, and 1kg packs of pasta.

  • +1

People still hoarding here in Canberra, or at least in my area. None at local Aldi yesterday, none at local Coles three days ago. I have not seen a roll in either since the lunacy started.

Fortunately I bought 2 large packs mid Feb via a discounted post here on OzB and still have plenty left despite giving some away.

For all the hoarders out there, thanks for contributing to the next mouse plague….mice and rats love nesting in paper, lol.

    • I did not hoarder any but maybe my neighbours did, since I actually had two mice in the kitchen, never happened before in 18 years

  • +1

More to my original post….The idiot had 20 people buying toilet paper for him and he was selling toilet paper on eBay, until ebay shut him down

    • He should be named and shamed.

  • Drakes is now repackaging toilet paper into smaller packs in some Adelaide stores.

    https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/business/sa-business-journal/…

  • Coles selling quilton 6 pack for $5.80, ripoffs.

    • You noticed not homebrand paper available cause they can't pump the price up on that

  • How the heck did this lowlife manage to hoard that many. Asking for a friend.

    • Paid other lowlifes to help him.

  • this is low.

but around the country the shortage is not people brodening tp - in most cases 70% of people are now using home supplies and not work ones now that they're home all day - commercial vs residential tp supply chains haven't shifted fast enough
