How Much Time You Spent to Get in or out of Home during Covid19 Pandemic?

We, everyone in our household recently agreed to have a cautious approach for each of us get in and out of home - mostly focus on back home.

We have slightly different approach when going out. Some of us wear gloves all the way until get home and try to avoid touching anything when outside. I myself will bring a surgical mask, pocket sanitizer and wearing normal glasses when out. Time taken to arrange this usually very quick.

However, time taken is longer when back home. We usually have groceries and packs of food to unload. So we take shoes off outside the door, then if possible get someone to help release the groceries and other stuffs to our balcony. Also bring the shoes to the balcony. Immediately go to bathroom to thoroughly wash hand and remove the mask or glasses (if it is on) then wash face. Get change afterward.

Unload and sort the groceries and the food packs at the balcony and move them back in kitchen. The rest just leave it in the balcony for few hours with sun or leave it next day if at night to tidy up. Ideally wash the groceries right away if possible - usually fruits and vegetables.

We are happy with this arrangement at this stage but wonder how others doing during pandemic. I know some people doing even more cautious than us but also others suggest the habits is a bit over the top. Some people in share house mentioned they just don't bloody care.

I don't think wearing gloves outside is a good idea, it does nothing to stop the transfer of virus as far as I can see.

I don't think your actions are over the top, it's what doctors are recommending. Even if it is there's something to be said for the psychological effects of feeling "clean" inside.

My in and out times haven't changed.
I just follow 2 basic rules.
NEVER touch your face with a bare hand, always use a Tissue (even if it's just to scratch an itch).
The first thing to do after arriving home is wash your hands with soap and water, and still avoid touching your face with bare fingers.

These 2 rules are good for the Flu as well, I haven't had the Flu for over 10 years!
The main problem following these rules is that people are unknowingly touching their face every couple of minutes, so using a Face Mask has it's benefits.

You are a paranoid schizophrenic and your written explanations reflect this.

    • Just paranoid, not schizophrenic.

No difference. Maybe I wash my hands more often.

I spend same amount of time pretty much.

Just follow the basic rules - try to acoid touching face when out in public, try to touch communal things (buttons etc.) With elbows or similar, wash hands when I get home.

Never thought to wash grocerie# (except fruit) or let them decontaminate. Not sure really how effective that would be.

I carry my sanitiser with me and wash my hands when I get home. I do carry some gloves with me, in case I might need them, but haven’t needed them, to date. If I’m feeling particularly paranoid I will wipe down what I bring home. I don’t waste my money on buying masks, I just avoid crowds and don’t touch things unless I’m buying them. If I pick something up I’ll sanitise my hands afterwards.

Do whatever makes you feel comfortable, at least you aren’t washing your fruit and veg with soap.

I wash my hands when I get back home every time now. That's it.

  • I think you would be better off eating well and getting super aerobically fit.

After 10 pints to my local it used to take 20 mins on average to get my key in the front door, now I can’t drink only 10 seconds,

    • Only 10? Wow… with the name uncle snake id think that should be 40 schooners lol

I need extra time to put on and take off my Darth Vader costume for shopping trips.

  • just leave it in the balcony for few hours with sun

It's my understanding that there's not enough UV in sunlight to kill viruses. However, that's so far out of my sphere of knowledge and interests that I'm just repeating what I've read.

Seems excessive, unless you got someone at risk.

    • At least it isn’t a GIMP mask.

      • Would help with the social distancing.

        • Certainly would. I already cross the street when I see people coming towards me, that would cause me to turn and run.
