Jaybird Tarah Pro Wireless Sport In-Ear Earphones $124.50 (RRP $249.00) + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Harvey Norman

540
JAYBIRD50

Saw the bargain for Jaybird Vista that were 50% off. Scared I would lose those tiny sh*ts so I wanted this one.
Checked to see if the code works for this one and it does. Most likely will work for all of the jaybird products. Not exactly sure when it will expire but I suspect Monday (20/04).

Review from rtings

Just an update (18/04): When I got the first pair of TARAH Pros it wouldnt connect to my phone for more than 5 secs (apparently a common enough issue for it to be on the Jaybird website FAQ). I went into HN because I had picked them up from the store (tip do C&C when you can), so that I can get an exchange. Got it exchanged and all is well now. Decent for the price just kinda weird for this price you should only be concerned with quality not if it's gonna work.

Wow cheers for this! The code also works for other Jaybirds..so you can practically change the best to 50% of Jaybirds at HN!

      yep works for all Jaybird's

Looks like a good deal op for a sporting set.
    Any suggestions?

    Jaybirds are shite, get jabras

    • Do all wireless headphones require Bluetooth and data to work? Thanks

      • Sorry not sure what you mean

      • +2

Yes wireless headphones all use Bluetooth. They don't use mobile data directly.

      • +2

If I understand your comment correctly, No data if the music is local but yes if you are streaming music.

        • So if I am playing audiobook from my phone, I don't need wifi or data on my phone?

          • +2

@amorn: If the audiobook is already stored on your phone and doesn't require downloading then you don't use mobile/wifi data again

          • +2

@amorn: Turn off WiFi and mobile data (or enable airplane mode) then try and play your audio book. Skip a chapter or two forward in case it has a buffer.

If it plays successfully then it means it's on your phone.

          • +3

@amorn: If it's previously been downloaded/stored on the phone, correct. If not, you will need wifi/data to download or stream an audiobook. Or have a friend/family member load it onto your phone via another device.

  • Jabra Elite 65t or Jaybird Tarah Pro ?

    • +1

      Jabra for sure

Rated pretty similar, but I haven't looked into the detail such as sound accuracy etc

    • See my thoughts below. At this price the jaybird have the advantage. If both compared at same price point, it comes down to whether you want true wireless or wired Bluetooth.

      Both sound great

The Tarah Pros are terrible, I used the Jaybird X2s before purchasing them and they were much better.

My Tarah Pros broke (thankfully) so I was able to get a refund and paid the difference for Jabra Elite 75T's.

    Miss this deal imo…

    • Can confirm on the X2s, I really shouldn't have given them away.

My experience with Tarah Pros were horrible, and it's my 3rd replacement. Won't fit properly, won't play even close to 14 hours of their advertised charge (I play with the volume at around 7/15 and most I got is 9 hours) and the microphone is mediocre at best.

Anyone thinking of getting Tarah Pros, don't fall for the hype—go elsewhere. But don't take my word for it, lots of users have complaints about the Tarah Pros on Jaybird's website. It's a damn shame too, I really want to like these earphones but it's so bad.

  • I went from Jabra Rox Wireless to Jaybird X3s… Damn had so many issues with the X3. Now I have had the Jabra 65Ts for over a year and could not be happier

  • Jabra Elite 75t or Jabra Elite Active 75t?

    • I'd go the Active for durability's sake. Only difference between them is the IP57 rating on the Active (vs IP55 on the standard), so better water/sweat proofing.

You are fooling yourself if you think the mic is good. Its shit.

      • +1

I bought a Taotronics and recipients of my call say it’s good , Connects instantly . I don’t know why people by overpriced sports earphones like Jaybirds

        • +1

I have the 76 which I think is the model up from this. The mike is perfectly fine. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

It's far better than more expensive headphones.

I have had a bunch of earphones over the years and still have them. My tarah pros and elite 65t are more relevant to this discussion. They both sound great with a rich full sound signature that can be tweaked.

The tarah pro have a great battery life, magnet feature is excellent, app is excellent, mic is good, remote, waterproof etc. I thrashed mine over 1.5 years, wearing them anywhere from 4-8 hours a day. The remote rubber deformed and the whole set was replaced. Eventually, the battery started to degrade. It has issues with microphonics (mainly due to the rugged, durable tangle free braided cable) but I can still recommend them. Switch fit is great. Gel ear tips are excellent, cant use comply with these. Charging dock dongle is magnetic and great too, but don't lose it.

The elite 65t are a different kind of product but sound just as great and mic is great too. Well built and rugged. Case is slippery. Battery isn't as long but still good. After market tips have to be fairly specific for them to be shallow seating to fit back into charging case.

At this price for tarah pro, they're a steal.

FYI I have several sets of earphones (and it's out of control)

  • I have been using Tarah pros for the last year. They are great overall but warning. Great sound and customisation. Comfortable and they really block out outside noise well. I struggle getting headphones to fit and these stick in my ears like glue. Love the battery life and water resistance too. Charging is also so quick, 5 mins for 2 hours use. And the chargeing accessory is really simple. They also pause and recommence play when pulling them out of your ears and back in again - love this feature.

WARNING. I've had an issue happen to me twice now where the headphones buzz and don't stop until I manually reset them. It's happened twice over the last 3 or so months. If it happens again, I'd be a bit concerned considering my warranty just ran out. The other issue that so many people are reporting is rubber peeling off the control unit and hamming the buttons. Not sure how widespread it is, but my the more you use them, the more likely they are to start peeling. I have a few headphones for various uses so these aren't my daily set, only for exercise and though I can see some bubbling under the rubber, it hasn't been an issue for me. My work mate's set became unusable after 10 months of use.

    • Yep my rubber started lifting very little before warranty was up so got a replacement set luckily. I wondered whether it was my fault. Once or twice I left in car and it may have gotten hot. I'm not a huge sweater either..

Also noticed the surfaces where the magnets join can wear the logo. I put some clear sello tape cut to size and it worked great. A softer touch when magnetising.

For all these flaws, which may be isolate (?) I still rate them very much.

The gel material is excellent for moulding into the ear canal, they plunge and seal well.

My biggest issue was battery wear (though after 18 months of 4 to 8 hours use per day)

      Microphonics from cable.

Owned Jaybird x3 for less than 4 months. One day it stopped working and i couldn’t get any help from jay bird to fix it. They wouldn’t reply to emails, my post on their support website. Ended up in bin after a lot of frustration. $150 gone.

Things might be different now; just make sure there is some support for repairs if you have to fix them in future.

    • +3

You should have returned the item to the store…

      • It was Catch.com via some seller named "F Digital". Dont know if they handle repairs.

  • Thanks for the post. Used code and worked for transaction last night. No Stock in-store around Melbourne so will be delivered. Going to use for work calls/sports so will claim on FY20 Tax return so happy to purchase through HN. I starting looking at Jabra headsets but decided against the Janet Jackson/Mission Control look. Design looks really good - Red Dot Winner in 2019 - and hopefully more durable than previously purchased bluetooth headphones. With current situation I expect more/deep discounts across consumer products especially towards EOFY.

  • Seems this deal has ended.

    • +1

      Just worked for me

    • Just ordered now. Code still works.

  • I had exact same problem as OP with mine that I picked up today. Pairing dropped out after 5 secs and powered-off, plus when on charger the white light flashed for 10 or so seconds then 2-3 red flashes and powered off - just wouldn't charge.

Took it back to HN for exchange, and replacement works fine. Obviously some QA issues with manufacturing and these are known issues.
