    There's a large number of apps that have a cost but also have ads and in-app purchases.
    These apps regularly go "on sale" for free in order to make them appear on apps/websites that catalogue apps on sale - more advertising than they'd get by being free all the time.

  If your looking for a Pokemon clone, try out Coromon. Its in early access but is much better than most cash grab clones out there like Evertale.

    Thanks for the recommendation, ended up giving this game a whirl and it was actually pretty polished for an early access. Seems like some love went into this game, and the battle animations are pretty nice as are the creature designs. It's fun too.

  this game is so cash grab.
  Played the game for a week and after a point in the story there was absolutely no way to progress through the story without paying IAPs.
  Absolute garbage game that forces you to pay money, no way to even play f2p.

  I started playing this game from a freebie a few weeks ago. It's like a FF7 styled game where you have a story mode. It's not a cash grabber game (in my opinion) as you get stones/currency as you play and login. It's a nice game but it can get repetitive but there are some strategy to some battles. My tip: To level up faster, you can do events on "auto". So if you get stuck in a level, do this (otherwise you'll be grinding slowly).
