What makes it Porsche?
Like most things, the brand name on the item.
Instead of a Kirin 980 chip it has a 3.6L flat-six engine.
I don't know. Everything I've seen from them looks bog standard. Not bad but nothing to distinguish it from anything else.
I don't like most of they're stuff either, but Porsche Design is legitimately Porsche. Both owned by the same parent company. Founded by the son of the Porsche AG founder, who also happened to design the 911.
Edit might have been his grandfather that founded Porsche.. they're all bloody named Ferdinand and it gets confusing.
Porsche Design used to put out some really nice sneakers about 12 years ago when they first collaborated with Adidas, but everything they've done since then has been the classic, overpriced garbage you get from luxury car marques and their licensed merchandise, regardless of whether it was shoes, phones, sunglasses, hard drives, watches, etc.
I visited one of the dedicated Porsche Design stores they have in Germany in 2018, which sells the entire range of Porsche Design merchandise and all of it looked completely bland, uninspired and overpriced.

This will suit someone who also has Ferrari merchandise but no Ferrari neither a Porsche.
i bought a porsche design external HDD and the build quality and aesthetics are fantastic regardless of it just being a seagate drive inside. When it fails ill definitely be swapping the drive out for an SSD rather than just dropping the whole thing in the trash like all other external HDDs ive had.
