  • Not bad. Would buy if I had a 4K player.

I'm going to have to wait until the PS5 is out to be able to watch this.

      • Why can't you watch it on a Xbox One S/X?

        • +2

I'm a PlayStation guy. I just got my first 4K TV a few weeks ago thanks to a deal on here. If I didn't know that the PS5 would be coming out around the end of the year, I would've probably bitten the bullet and bought a One X.

@BurnZ: I mean, being a PlayStation guy is fine, but the bargain guy in me says look for a ~$200-or-less Xbox One S, definitely don't buy the PS5 on launch (can't think of a launch model of any console that hasn't had issues of some kind) and wait for the PS5 to drop to a reasonable price considering the rumours of a hefty price tag at launch.

That way you open yourself up to a library of games that you wouldn't have been able to play if you're only a PlayStation guy (Cuphead, Ori, Gears, Halo, Forza, Horizon plus BC titles unavailable on any PlayStation systems like Witcher 2), then you can always sell the Xbox or give it as a gift to a younger family member or friend once the PS5 is cheaper.

Plus you'd get to immediately use 4k streaming and Bluray functionality.

            Just my 2c.

@Ninternet: nah, that's not how Playstation guys do it. Launch every time for us. There has never really been an issue with buying at launch aside from the price. Consoles aren't like games that launch broken and need firmware updates.

              • +8

@carlscott1982: Except that the launch PS3s all failed which led to the redesign without backwards compatibility. And the PS4 launched with a common fault that led the machine to ejecting discs whilst playing as well as controllers with thumbsticks that would grind away after only a couple dozen hours of use.

All launch consoles have had many issues. PlayStation fans just seem to overlook them.

The switch has had numerous issues with Joycon drift and "warping".

The Xbox One had hard drive and disc issues.

The 360 had the notorious red ring of death.

                The Wii U was a Wii U

                Etc

@Ninternet: "the wii u was Wii u" lmao

                  @Ninternet: "The Wii U was a Wii U"

Hey man. There are dozens of us!

                • @Ninternet: Bang on with your memory of hardware issues there.

                • @Ninternet: thats why the console comes with a warranty. the current consoles are so dated now, absolutely itching for the new ones.
                  midnight launch or bust

                  • +1

@piston3461: Relying on your warranty and getting the system on launch day is a huge consumerist trap…

                    • @Ninternet: ill happily be the mouse in that delicious PS5 trap playing cyberpunk in 4k

                      • @piston3461: Which you can probably already do on One X or PC… But I hope you feel good about that $700 day one buy.

        • Don't get a Xbox One S for 4k blu-ray. Picture quality isn't that great. Panasonic blu ray players are you best bet.

Maybe the PS5 will be a decent 4k player.

I dropped into Big W (trying my luck with that Sony speaker that was posted) and they had a clearance of Sony UBX700 for $99.95

    • can these one be played on normal bluray players?

      • No.

    Hold on a sec.

    Sanity is still around?

    • lol! Right!! That's what i was thinking.

      • Me too? There is probably a generation of kids who don't know what Sanity used to be.

        • +2

I still have a $20 voucher for these guys.

        • Nor HMV or Blockbuster Music or Virgin Megastore.

    • A few bricks and mortar stores in regional towns not large enough for JB to take an interest.

      • We've got quite a few in Perth.

      It's In Sanity.

  • OP (BurnZ) you have posted a deal - No need for the fake news!

JB HiFi wants $40 for Westworld Season 1 + Season 2.
JB also has steelbook version and blu-ray editions.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/?q=westworld&hPP=36&idx=shopify_pr…

    • Possible he might not have noticed the little "TV 2 For $40" banners - i didn't when i first looked at your link as i was just looking at the actual prices of each item… because otherwise he is absolutely correct, it is $52.98 if purchased on its own.

    • I edited in the JB price after I posted as an afterthought.

Why did season 2 have to be so ordinary compared with the first season :(

    • How about 3rd

      • 3rd season not drawing me in :(

      • +1

I'm quite enjoying season 3, but it's very different to what we've seen before. Better than Season 2, a few episodes have been on par with Season 1 IMO, but still a very good season (if you keep up with everything)

    • +1

i thought it was fun. big setup for s3

      • It just got all to convoluted, it was like they were complicating the story line just for the sake of it. At least that's how it seemed to me, stopped watching after the 5th episode.

Also the absence of Anthony Hopkins didn't help my appreciation for the 2nd season either.

        • The only confusing part i remember was the last episode. Season 3 is pretty coherent. Worth watching.

  • Westworld was a favourite movie of mine back in the 1970s. I haven’t seen this series, but it looks to be based on the same story
    Westworld the movie

  • In stock. But $5.95 shipping = $19.28

Jb hifi has first two seasons for $40 but I suppose that's not posted.
