      • hi, can u provide the receipt for our reference and which branch have u use $50 to get 5 yr warranty.. because they don't offer me that , thanks.

      • Manager of Capalaba, QLD was a complete c$ckhead when we asked him about cheaper extended warranty… for TWO screens. He wouldn't even budge on price for TWO screens. Was arrogant, rude, and showed utter disregard for basic customer service. We left disgusted and went to Carindale Shopping Centre where they were only too happy to help out on price of two of the soniq 42" screens. We didn't get extended warranty because they couldn't budge on it, doesn't matter. If the screens last for 3+ years, I'd be happy.

      • It seems many people are not able to get extended warranty at this price so I will try to upload receipt here by tomorrow, if it helps you guys.

    • Thanks Pete, Are you getting one of these screens, provided you haven't got it already?

I still have all my seats folded down and entire contents of the car emptied, and I want to fill the space up with a shiny new TV, LOL

  • Was going to get the DSE 32" then saw this and just ordered it online to pickup instore :) what a deal!! :)

  • God damn!!! That's cheap o.O

  • Kogan has dropped his price too:

    http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/42-lcd-tv-hd-tuner/

Can anyone give me a comparison between them? Kogan's is brighter with a better contrast ratio but the Soniq has (for probably the same reason) have a better energy rating.

Also, Kogans price is only good for another 12 hours - is the JB offer running out tonight?

    • Don't forget to check how much delivery is with Kogan….

    • Not bad, but note, the Soniq is actually an IPS panel, while the Kogan is just a TFT. Yeah I was surprised, but that's what it says on a sticker on the tv when I saw it. It does indeed look like a nice tv for the price.

Another note, according to the guy at JB the fact it's IPS means it's a panasonic panel, for all those still wondering.

      • Can anyone verify that it is indeed an IPS panel rather than it just claim it is?

        • Well, when looking at it the colour didn't noticeably fade till about a 85 degree viewing angle, which I thought was what IPS helped with. It was playing an animated movie so I couldn't really judge how accurately it was reproducing colour. So yeah it seemed good but I can't confirm.

  • purchased one today…i am satisfied with the picture quality and the price.

  • I can also confirm there is an IPS sticker on the TV. Also Sonic now have this page: http://www.soniq.com.au/Why-Buy-SONIQ/SONIQ-IPS-Panel.html
where they say they are LG panels.
I just checked the one I picked up and yes, you can see the TV from some pretty extreme angles without noticable loss of image brightness. ( I took a photo but not sure how to upload it)

  • So the fact is only 50hz is a little worrying, i thought all LCD was 100hz actually. and plasma is 300 or something?

for gaming it is quite important

  • Hmm.. thoughts on seeing a deal this good/better again before Christmas?

  • the tv is good , but hope will got a better deal later…

  • Ah THANK you so much for posting this deal - i went out and got one on Tues and im very happy :) Great post!

  • just found VIVO 101cm (40") Full High Definition LCD TV LTV40FHD
only 388 from Dick Smith , how about this one?
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE6163/vivo-101cm-40-quot-fu…

  • All good here great tv for the price just setup my logitech remote for it :)

  • +1

so definitely no mkv or firmware upgrades?

    • Consider a WDTV?

  • Just picked one up and have it setup as a computer monitor. Was very surprised by the quality of this TV given the price. The viewing angles are great and the image is sharp and very clear. I don't use the built in speakers so can't comment on their quality but others have said they suck. Awesome for gaming and general computer use.

  • Went to Caringbah and few more left.

They will offer you the 4 yrs extended warranty for $89.

I said I am willing to pay for it for $50.. but the sales guuy mention 70…
I said someone already got it for $50 and I am only willing to pay up to $450 total plus the extended warranty.

I just told them I am only willing to pay extra $50 for additional 4 yrs extended warranty (that makes it 5 yrs total warranty).

  • so how is the 50hz for gaming though, does it show up lag??

    • Dude, I don't mean to be offensive; so please don't take this as an insult; but this is your second comment in this thread showing a significant lack of knowledge of what these technologies really mean.

You really need to go do some research, particularly with regard to what 50Hz vs 100Hz with regard to LCD actually means! It's even been thrashed out here on OzB ad infinitum, I would have thought it would be sinking in with everyone by now but it doesn't seem to be!!!

  • great price, just got one. now looking for mounts which would fit this unit, if anyone has any recommendations pls let me know. thanks.

  • Does anyone notice if you attached the base/stand to the panel, the TV is leanign a little bit forward?

    • is this normal?

I double check all the screws (6 screws total / 4 blacks and 2 white) and all are already tighten up.

    • Yes same here its a slight tilt forward but only very slightly

      • ok, just making sure it is by design and not something wrong with the item that I got.:-)

        • lol everytime i walk past i try to tilt it back.

  • can anyone comment on mounting this tv with this:
    http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSF…

  • Man if the TV could play mkvs, I'd be all over it in a flash! Oh well, I'll just have to wait..

  • Does any one try to use 1920X1080, i use ATI HD2400XT, can only use 1600X400 with VGA, try to use 1920 but the desktop can't shows in full screen, anyone can help.thanks.

    • I have 1920x1080 working no worries. Try setting refresh rate to 60Hz or lower or update graphics drivers.

      • Hi Martology

Are u use duplicate screen or extend screen to get 1920X1080?
        thanks.

        • I have set my screen to be extended. I think you would have a lot of difficulty setting it up as duplicate if both screens don't share the same resolution. If you still have problems set it up as a single screen first to confirm everything is working as it should.

        • thanks ,Martology, i will try to use extend screen tonight ,hope it will be ok.

        • Hi Martology

I just tried to use extend screen but still not working ,and i also tried only one screen first,is that any possible i use xp and vga cable then i can't use 1920X1080, or it's my tv problem?thanks.

        • I am sorry, I do not know what is wrong. I would suggest trying a different computer as the problem my be your graphics card. Best of luck with it!

        • Hi Martology

Can i know are u use the laptop ,xp sytem, vga cable to get the 1920X1080 resolution?thanks

        • Hi Martology

Finally i got 1920X1080 now, i changed a vga cable and it works now.thanks for help.

  • Any suggestions for a cheap (<$50) 2.0 or 2.1 speaker system that'll work well with this TV?

    • careful it is only digital audio out so cheap speakers wont work easily with the tv.

  • sold out in many places…

  • (Gold Coast, and possibly the rest of QLD): Sold out. Shipment coming in halfway through next week.

    • They are back in stock at most stores today.

  • +1

I got one of these and have been pretty impressed considering the price!

The audio is tinny, so hopefully they'll release a firmware patch for it (as they have for other models), and it only has digital audio outputs so do be careful if you want to put it into an analog sound system.

My partner is going a bit mad about the startup screen and sound, but many TVs have that these days!

  • Anyone manage to set theirs up for best colour reproduction yet? I'm playing around with the settings but I'd like to compare with others

  • Anyone know if 200912 fixes the overscan issue?
