  • Can I also use this as a surf board?

    • No rails, so it won't turn.
And you'll be equally hated and laughed at in the line-up
Plus at 29" wide, it's too wide to sit across.

Don't really need to sit across a board when you can sit cross legged on it

Small (2-3 foot) waves would be fine if you just want to experience catching a wave but you'll find out difficult to do any bottom turns or carve on an inflatable, a hard board would be a better bet if surfing waves is your desire. For touring, this would be a great board

I'm keen to understand how this SUP is superior to something like this.

    • Kings Inflatable Stand-Up Paddle Board

That one is only suitable Kings. Are you royalty?

Decathlon warranty and service is worth something. Apart from that, this board can likely be inflated to a higher pressure, likely has much better touring characteristics ie:stiffer & narrower, has reinforcement around chafe points and some neat features like the cargo straps, a better carry bag.

Inflatables are actually very durable if treated well and this even has a bumper/hard plastic piece on the nose to protect from accidental knocks/chafe, pretty cool feature.

Had an inflatable SUP and it was too unstable. I preferred the hard paddle boards for stability and speed in a variety of conditions.

A quality inflatable shouldn't be less stable. Was it the same width / length?

Used my Hyrdroforce inflatable sup for the last 2 years. Aldi recently started selling them under $300. Can't beat it for that price. Other half sits on the front and sometimes vice versa. Stable enough for us. I caught a few small waves with it. Bit bendy for waves to be honest, but doable. I put half in the car, pull the air plug and fold in half, put air plug back, drive home. Leave it in its semi inflated state so it doesn't get folds in it and much quicker to pump Up next time.
