you forgot one more bullet point:

    • and a free lifetime subscription to Reader's Digest junk mail.

I got Handyman magazine a few years ago (since stopped), but I get constant personally addressed junk mail from RD on a regular basis :(.

    • Yeah that stuff sucks! Next time you get one, just write "return to sender, not at this address" on it, and that should solve your problem

      • just write "return to sender, n

Ha! You have obviously never been on a Readers Digest mailing list.
Even death will not stop them.

I am Jack's mountain of Free Sweepstakes.

Yeah, but you're already in the running to win. In fact, you may have already won.

    • I've never bought anything from them yet I'm still on their crap list! Although…if I run out of toilet paper…

What the hell is Readers Digest anyway?

    Warning!

    IT'S A TRAP!

Can I get an abridged 6 month subscription, instead?

    • +4

      Sure, it goes like this…

      • We interviewed someone famous, but nothing you didn't already know
      • You won a $39 item, just pay $100 to get it
      • Here are some really easy and simple crosswords to make you feel special

If you enter their 100th sweepstakes competition they will probably send you an email with an offer to subscribe for 6 months for $6.

  • How come there are ton of negative comments, but only positive vote for the deals ?

I used to like Reader Digest years ago, but their quality is really bad now. If you don't have an internet connection, and can't keep up with the world news, this would entertain you somewhat. Otherwise, it's just a SPAM TRAP.

    • spam central. I've tagged so many emails as phishing scams and they still keep coming.

junk or inbox -they are always there.

i didnt want to neg the deal itself because I guess its a good price for someone wanting it, i just hate readers digest and the 'extra inclusions'.

After signing up, my letter box was full of junk mails and took me few calls to cancel my subscription.

If you want to be removed from our mailing list, you can ring us and arrange that. As for the Sweepstakes entries you get in the mail, we send out those entries to thank you for looking at our catalogues, as we don't have a store front. Think of it as a free lottery ticket. You are not obliged to buy a thing from us and if you respond with a "No" you still get a free entry to the sweepstakes… and in case you are wondering, there really are winners. I know as I ring them myself to let them know they are up to half a million dollars richer. The last two winners haven't bought anything from us, so it was a great (and happy) surprise for them. Naturally we prefer it if people buy from us (as does any company that sends catalogues via mail or email), but even if you don't, we thank you with an entry to our sweepstakes anyway (unlike any other companies). DK Knight, I am sorry you believe the quality has gone down, as we believe it is still carries the same high quality, concise and informative articles it has always had and remains the most read magazine in the world, but we value all customer feedback to help us to grow and improve our offering to you.
