Long time deal Ozbargain deal user, first time deal poster. ;)

Been searching for these for some time to play with some of the PSVR games that I picked up here on sale (particularly Blood & Truth). Most stores are selling at $119. Been watching Gumtree for months and even used ones go for $35-$40 per controller and from what I've read most at that price are PS3 controllers with bad batteries (need to maintain a charge with these and not let them go dead for long periods of time, as is the case with most rechargable batteries).

They were on Amazon.com.au a couple weeks back for a similar price (maybe $103?), so this isn't a once-in-a-lifetime offer by any means. However, I put them in my cart and they were out of stock by the time I pulled the trigger a couple of days later, then came back at $119.

Best price ever looks to have been $47.49 a controller (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371886), but that was two years ago.

These controllers are the real weak point of PS VR imo. Really hope they come up with better ones in the next version.

    • Genuine question - what exactly can be better? I can think of a couple of things, but they generally serve their purpose pretty well.

Tracking nowhere near as good the Vive or WMR wands I've used, and the lack of a thumbstick / touchpad is limiting.

    • It sucks so bad that they used these from the ps3, but made the gun mounts incompatible.

Wow these things are ancient. PSVR needs a better solution than this

I remember getting one of these for $20 years ago, before VR as they were only used in the camera games that died as a concept. Now I regret not getting at least 2, and I refuse to pay the $100+ for them now.

    • I'm in the same boat. I bought a set (2x move controllers plus a navigator controller) for PS3 years ago for about $30.

Straight up refuse to pay this much for them even though I would like to try them with my PSVR.

Definitely not the best price ever. I have them from a year ago in my Amazon purchase history at $79.99.

Super expensive, but also hard to find (new ones, not old ones with batteries that don't hold charge).

Essential for a number of PSVR games.

  • No doubt this will be redesigned for PS5.

    • They're going with inside out tracking if early leaks are to go by.

I still use my ps3 era ones for VR and battery has not been an issue for me.

  • Does PSVR use the eyetoy camera for tracking too?

    • Yes, it does.

      • It’s called the PlayStation Eye which is only compatible with the PS4, not the eyetoy which was ps2/ps3

        • EyeToy - PS2
          PlayStation Eye - PS3
          PlayStation Camera - PS4

          • @Pandaroo: Oh was it? I just remember using the eyetoy on my ps3 for the fish tank “game”

  • VR controller are so expensive. I went looking for touch controllers for Rift yesterday and you cant even get a set from Oculus. Just the left controller.

    • Steam knuckles are $279 US.. so probably $500+ if they ever turn up here.

    • For what it is.. I wouldn't say so.

Computers used to be 3 grand back in the days when 3 grand was a lot more than 3 grand.. but relative to their utility, they were worth it if you knew how to use one. Same thing today. Between VR tech, 3D printing, and drones, we're on the frontier of some pretty amazing stuff. It's just that we are so used to cheap shit, that we have a hard time justifying paying so much for decent stuff.

    • Be careful, they don't even sell replacement cables for the CV1 anymore, so if you break it it's a glorified paperweight

  • PlayStation 4 Pro specials when?
Especially now the ps5 has been delayed no excuse not to upgrade to a ps4 pro

  • Before the PSVR came out I picked up a pair at Eb games for $10 each
