That's the OzB instinct for value!

        • It's the classic cost:alcohol ratio lol!

    Ordered, thanks :P

Also Byrne Limited Release Sangiovese Clare Valley 2014 for the same price.
    Don't forget 4% Shopback or 3.5% Cashrewards.

  • Great deal, OP! Love a random wine purchase. I would never pay $60 for a bottle but nothing beats opening a good bottle of wine knowing you've only paid $16.50 for it! They make great gifts as well.

      bargains always taste better ..

      • as long as it's ok wine.. cringe at those throw out bottles in dan's clearance bins. like people only drinking them for a cheap alcohol fix. like they say - life's too short for cheap nasty wine :)

    • Once you've drunk alot of good wine you'll actually find some of the $60-120 bottles are out of this world…certainly worth the experienc e(wouldn't do it often in terms of watching the pennies). it's like anything though, like some people just can't appreciate a good, expensive whisky. To each their own i suppose.

After I’ve drunk a lot of good wine, everything tastes great!

  • 6 year old Grenache and Sangiovese?

    • sangiovese seems interesting but at $15 bottle that is ,the same as the also premium sangiovese and it is great …..

    • I erred on this too … not an expert but seems like might be past its prime.

      • 6 years is fine for a good wine. if it's cheap and nasty then needs to be drunk young, but grenache like any other red can store for 10-20 years for agood drop. All comes down to how good of a grape and bottle it is.

    • A good sangiovese would easily hold up that well. Not so sure in the grenache but at this price probably worth a risk. Would want to drink in the next 12 months though.

      • Sangiovese - Rated 87 by Halliday in 2017. Drink to 2025…..
Grenache - Rated 92. Also drink to 2025….

        • Ooof, that rating, 87… might pass then. Although is that for the 2017 or rating the 2014 in 2017?

I usually wouldn't argue with the expert but grenache is pretty light, it spoils a bit more easily than sangiovese imo (also light, but tends to hold up very well with more tannins). I'd hope the winery has taken really good care of it during this time but when Halliday is saying drink to 2025 it means stored perfectly, not sitting in the box in a warehouse somewhere.

          • @freefall101: Both ratings for the 2014 vintages. Rated/reviewed in Nov 2017.

honestly, a lot of these australian grenache's classed as 'good', never hold up well under even a modest timeframe…

  • already starting to see export demand dry up, very quickly - i saw numbers out of wine australia indicate ~790million litres of export decline prior to C19, it's going to be a blood bath given 65% of wine production is exported

    • +7

Make it a wine bath as you got yourself a cracking deal

    • Absolutely…
This deal will not be considered so good in months to come…

  • The 2014 label would indicate its a 6 year old wine. Here's a link to both, it ships direct from the winery

yeah, problems moving stoa life before covid …..so bad business model, bad promotion, over priced at rrp or bad wine.

Got a case thanks OP. For me $30 is an outrageous purchase for a bottle so looking forward to savouring the taste of a $60 bottle.

Must be a shitty over priced drop.

    • Why not buy half a dozen and find out?

      • Maybe if they sell by a bottle , I don't wanna exprement with $99 🙄

  • Bought a half dozen of each. Thanks OP.

Getting an error when I try to order. Saying delivery unavailable. Anyone else?

    • I got that too

    • Yep

    • +1

"The following item is unavailable for Standard delivery.
Please remove from your order. "

      • Yep. Guessing sold out.

  • +1

    Looks like it's sold out

  • +1

Sold out, that was fast! Ozbargained with 1175 clicks

  • You can tell what Dan's value. I'm there price matching St Hugos and they're losing their shit. That's a $40 RRP wine, yet these they're letting go for just over $15 LOL. I assume it's at cost price to just move it at all costs.

    • Which wine is this?

    • Liquorland is clearing the Cab Sav for $10 a bottle in a bundle of 4 or more but good luck getting stock

      • Its all gone, I only grabbed 4 bottles by a few minutes before someone called. I managed to get Dan's to give me 8 bottles tho!

I did go back and buy some other $20-$25 wines for $10, but most stock is gone.

        • Yeah I bought before posting this on ozbargain and it looks like it was pulled in

      • Where do you see the $10 a bottle? I get $40.. X4 comes at $160..

        • +1

There was an in-store sale, they're sold out nationally now. It was going on for a week, I only noticed a few days ago.

You need to go IN-STORE, someone else mentioned this above.

          • @[Deactivated]: Thanks.
Went in store, nothing left. Next time.

            • +1

@reg401: Unfortunate, these price errors it's all about timing and half the time stores have better deals inside than online.

Expensive for 6 year old wine.. I would pay those coins only for freshly squeezed wine

    • I laughed.

      • +1

Got few negs on my comment. Few people didn't get the sarcasm after I missed out on this deal

  • Damn, came back to get some of the Sangiovese but all sold out!

  • No need to panic..there's a white from the same clan

  • any spares around? in dire need thankks

  • I have it on good authority that the 2015 vintage (Grenache) will be at Dan's very soon, possibly with the same deal.
