  • Great price, if it wasn't for the colour I'd purchase. Don't need them at all though….

Combine with a small subwoofer to really set them off.

Other colours aren't alot more though….

  • +1

Thinking of getting one are these good enough for a living room instead of a sound bar, id rather prefer excellent music than atmos/movies, thanks

    • It'll be great for movies don't worry.

      Very clean too.

    • +4

I'd take these over a sound bar any day of the week.
LSX speakers are absolutely top notch, you won't be disappointed.

  • Blue is actually the best colour

    • +4

For large quantities of water or sky, maybe. But not for these

      • -2

This is where you're wrong. They look good as a decor centrepiece

    • Yeah I actually think these look pretty awesome.

    • The blue I could live with. If I was shelling out $1500ish I would go a safe option like the white or black, but that's just me.

But the green though… wow… does anyone actually buy them in that colour?!

      • Each to their own, i like the green the best. Couldn't live with Blue though. Hence why they are trying to get rid of them i guess.

  • I have a pair of bookshelf KEF speakers from a couple of years ago. I'm into SQ audio a bit, these speakers really pack in a punch into their small size. Their quality and sound can't really be understated. Slightly light on bass bit really good presence and midrange. But turn them up and they respond.

They use in house designed drivers which they can really match well to an enclosure.

It's my life dream (one of anyway) to own a pair of floor standing KEFs.

    • +1

own a pair of floor standing KEFs.

From what I have heard KEF’s smaller speakers (bookshelf) are better rounded products.
They say skip the Q series Floorstanders and go for bookshelf (LS50 / R100), or the R (Reference) series Floorstanders.

      • Yep!

KEF make awesome bookshelf speakers… the LSX's are highly regarded. The same cannot be said for the Q series floor standing range.
Compared to other floor standing speakers in their $2000 price point, they aren't competitive.

        • They really are stretching the Q series, with the Q150, Q350, Q550, Q750, Q950.

        • Yeah I just checked, I have the Q100.

Paid US$299 + $26 tax on Nov 2016 on a sale. Shipped via ShipitTo which I can't seem to find the price of in my emails. But I think it ended up being about AU$550 shipped.

    • Slightly light on bass

Which is a good thing, IMO. If you want extra bass, buy a sub. I would rather bookshelves hit the mids and the highs, than the mids and the lows.

      • Yeah, I agree so I'm fully happy with them.

I also have a pair of JBL Pro LSR2325P's powered monitors, they have a much more pronounced low frequency response, but the drivers can reach their limits and distort, while the KEFs seem more efficient and go louder before the drivers start losing it. Not to say the JBLs don't also sound good.

The KEF drivers are also full range without a tweeter which is impressive. Can't remember if they have separate voice coils though.

  • Just a heads up guys this looks like doesn't come with free either desktop stand or wall mount. Currently they have promotion on those but you need to buy direct from KEF or from brick and mortar…
