$2 more ($198) for the 5 start rated matching/alternative Basin mixer.

    • This is a bathroom basin mixer and not suitable for kitchen double sinks. That being said, for the RRP price the WELS rating is so poor for both the taps

      • Is there some reason why you couldn't use a kitchen mixer tap on a bathroom basin?

        • +1

You can , unless the kitchen mixer tap extends out of the sink, but the case above is the other way around - bathroom mixer is not suitable for kitchen double sinks

        • +2

Size for one. I got caught out once, bought a gooseneck without carefully checking dimensions. Had a tiny spout as it was intended for bathrooms. And you would not have enough space under the tap for washing large pots.

Nice looking tap - as aside though, as a company, they are terrible to deal with (Dorf that is) - I bought a Dorf tap from Bunnings, and somehow between purchase and installation, one of the nuts for install went missing… I emailed Dorf and got no response, so I called 3 weeks later and bluntly told they don't carry spares and to go back to Bunnings..

  • Do these things really go for $800+?

Is this retractable one any good? I'm occasionally washing big pots, but have no idea how to choose taps

  • +4

There's no way you'd pay $800 for that tap.

I also had a Dorf tap in the past that the metal arm sprung a leak. Dorf were terrible with warranty and flat out refused.

Bought a Methven and its so much better!

    • So you chose Meth and how is that better for you? Just asking for a friend

      • +1

        Good one :p

In saying that, I've got a few Methven plumbing products - shower head, etc, and they have been the best I've ever used.

Wholeheartedly recommend their Satinjet Kiri shower head.

It's quality stuff, and comes with either very long or lifetime warranty, so I took that into account when it was a little more expensive than I was wanting to spend.

        Buy once, buy good.

    • Methven is owned by GWA, which also owns Dorf.

Personally I prefer Novelli made in Italy tapware. A little bit expensive compared to the cheaper Chinese made ones, but well worth it for the quality.

  • I’ll tap that!

Stay away from Dorf - product review
    https://www.productreview.com.au/b/dorf

You better spend 1/4 of the price and have something more reliable like this:
    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/yttran-kitchen-mixer-tap-w-pull…
I paid $59 for this 4 years ago and still works fine.

More like stay away from product review and never believe anything on that website.

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/productreview 🤣🤣

      • This is ironic for reviewing their own website and posting the actual reviews.

Pricing and quality, I've always liked the Ikea mixer taps. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/cat/mixer-taps-10482/. 10 year warranty/guarantee.

    • Yes, just avoid the $50 one. I made good use of the warranty on that :-)
Worked well, until corrosion in the spout.

But at least it does not look like something out of Minecraft.
