@andyman1908: If there is only one option, it means the query has ended already, request to talk to customer service again

                      • @tif1607: Haha, cheers wish me luck :)

                        • @andyman1908: Good luck mate, someone pm me with some good news already, hope you are the next one in-line

  • Thanks OP, managed to secure an iPhone XS Max 64GB for $449. Still some stock around South East Melbourne but not much. My research indicated only iPhone XS Max 64GB, 256GB in gold only and iPhone XS 512GB available, jut to save yourself some time.

  • Got two of xs max (one 256gb $469 and one 512gb $699) for wife and myself.

    So Happy!!

    • +2

Are they both maxes? Isn’t the xs max 256 $579?

      • Yes they both xs max
That xs max 256gb has been charged as xs 256gb somehow.

Paid $469 for xs max 256gb

Wow lucky day mate! Well done!

        • Wow could post the invoice might going to try a price match tomorrow.

  • I had the iPhone XS Max 512gb gold reserved at Thomastown VIC from last night to pick up this morning as I arrived I missed calls and my phone was given away

    • feelsbadman :( should be stock around Melbourne though! Give them a try I'm sure you'll find something :)

  • Hey guys help please I don't have a number to port do you reckon I can just buy a Vodafone number and port in the guy at store said I need at least 30 days.
    Thanks in advance

    • I used a $2 optus sim and activated with a $10 recharge. Total cost $12.

Ported to Telstra an hour later. No mention of 30 days.

      • Ok. Would work with Vodafone?
Also my Telstra contract just ended can I port today to Vodafone and come back tomorrow to Telstra?
        Thanks

        • +1

          You could:

          Option 1
          - get a $2 sim (optus, voda)
          - activate new sim
          - port new number to Telstra
          - get your iPhone Xs
          - plug in your current Telstra sim and throw away other sims

          Option 2
          - port your number out of Telstra
          - port same number back to Telstra
          - get your iPhone Xs

Option 1 worked for me. Not sure about Option 2; it is against their terms, so it might not work.

Edit: Option 2 requires that you port out of Telstra for a minimum of 30 days. I have no idea how strict they are with this, but it would be very easy for them to check.

          • @Poseidon: I would like to keep my number and the plan to be honest haha I so might do the second one and if doesn't work will do the 1st one.thank you

          • @Poseidon: Just work out I ported to optus and then back to telstra no much checking I got the phone already.

  • Thanks OP. Got an iPhone XS Max 64GB for $449; the last one at my store.

  • I went to my local store yesterday morning and ordered the XS 256Gb. The guy said the system is down so had to do a manual form and send it to a back office to process.

I was already a Telstra (post paid) customer and wanted to keep my number. So I ported to another carrier the night before, and then hoped for the best. It seems to have worked as the port back to Telstra has just been activated! Will go back to store to collect the phone tomorrow. YMMV.

Not sure if the manual porting helped me through.

    Thanks op!

  • So the guy at Blacktown had no idea about the Note 9 promo and why it's apparently available only there (in Sydney). Claimed it was a typo or something. Anyway, pointless as there doesn't seem to be anymore Note 9s anywhere…..

  • Damn

Reading the t&c for the Note 9

Offer only available at the Blacktown and Essendon The Good Guys Stores. Excludes all other stores, online and eBay, Existing Boost, Belong and Telstra Pre-Paid customers.

    A 500km drive in lockdown conditions. I don't think so !

  • got the xs max, would have been nicer to grab the note 9 for 99…

and u dont have to port a number.

    • You didn’t have to port? Existing Telstra customer?

      • i didnt have to, but guy said it was an error.

  • Anyone managed to find the proper working FREE S9 link?

  • Is the offer for regular XS (non-max) withdrawn? I was told the offer is only for XS max

    • +1

It's more than likely because only stock of the XS Max remain. I was told there was only XS (regular) 512GB in the stores I phoned up in my area so, luck of the draw there prob

      • They had stock of regular XS when i called but he said the Telstra offer is only with XS max.
Edit - Not just 512 GB regular XS but also 256 GB, 128 GB.

        • +1

Not sure about that one I'm afraid. Others have reported that the iPhone XS was eligible/in stock for them and I can verify this but again, could be down to your store. Even others in Victoria, based on their comments, called stores that said the promo wasn't even on. I'd just try another store tbh

        • +2

Nope - Definetly applied to the xs (normal size) too. mine just got ported today and I got my paperwork

          My invoice shows for an xs 256gb - $1829 - $1360 (credit for porting) = $469 payable.

          • +1

@Onnzo: Ok Thanks. Will try on Tuesday.

            • +1

@bajirao: So finally this did work. Apparently the person whom I spoke over phone was not aware about regular XS offer but after the phone call he saw it and tried to call me back but did not have the caller id! So when I showed up in store he was very happy :) Got the regular XS 256 GB for $469. Since I had cancelled my pathetic TPG broadband (NBN is just starting now), I might just continue with the plan (need to find a way to add Peace of mind data). Thank You OP, @blindingshadowz and @onnzo

    • +1

its for both, the store should have those print outs on the shelves.

    • Will depend on the store.

Im with Onnzo, got my wifes number ported over for the 256gb xs today and picked up. Same price.

Now do we try to cancel the contract… thats the question…

  • Are the samsung S9+ phones worth the upgrade from a Pixel 2XL nowadays? Not too sure how the cameras between the two phones compare.

Also if it's $49 upfront, could we pay the cancellation fee and get the phone for around $400, assuming the fee is roughly $350 or so?

    • No. definitely. 2xl still better than a s9+. I am with a 2xl as well and will try the iPhone max but if you don't like Apple I would wait until next pixel promotion

    • The S9+ isn't even in stock at the Castle Hill store where it's only available according to the pdf

  • does the xs max come with 12 mos of tv plus?

    • yes

  • Thanks OP. Just grabbed two xs max from Sydney Campbelltown store. One is 256 one is 64.As I left the store at 4:30pm, they still have two of 64Gb gold left.

  • Has anyone been able to get this deal for the Note 9 from any store?

  • There is some stock still in Brisbane suburbs (both XS and XS Max). I got regular XS today. The iOS is 12 so old stock (as expected). Battery was 0 so charging now. I got $10 off $50 for digital receipt (similar to JB one but this has minimum purchase requirement of $50).

  • I have applied manually with my local good guys since 3rd May, the store said system was down and i still havent got my confirmation after almost a week with an excuse system still down, its insane.

    • Yeah that's ridiculous I had a similar issue but it only took a few days

      • There could be a problem with the port. Check with your current provider.

      • Hi,
May I know how you fixed it? I'm struggling with the same issue and TGG won't release Iphone for me.
I asked Telstra and got the same excuse system down, but how other customers can port in while I fail.

        • Mine got ported from Kogan on 6th. Who is your current provider?

          • @bajirao: Mine Vodafone and my friend's Optus, both have not ported in Telstra

            • @psqpower: I did a chat with my current provider and they confirmed it was rejected. I fixed the problem (first name was mis spelt) and then called TGG to put it through again and it was ported within 30 minutes.

            • @psqpower: Kogan uses Vodafone. I did face any issue on 6th. You may want to call Vodafone to see what status they have on their side.

  • Where is this deal published? Local Goodguys store is saying there is no such deal going on

    • Did you show the sales person the link to their website? It is valid until 13 May. Maybe ask them to call the head office to see if the promotion is ended early?

  • I'm thinking of getting the XS on this deal but have just received an iPhone 11 (not Pro) last week from cashing in my Velocity points.

Which would be the better option - go with XS or open up the 11? Just looking for advice on which is better phone.

    • I was considering the Xs and the 11/pro as well.

For me I just wanted dual sim (coming from an X) and was going to get the 11 until this came along.

The main benefit is the camera - which I rarely use. It came down to paying $469 for the XS or $1500 for the 11. I’d rather pay $469!

The 11 is also bigger than the X/XS and I didn’t want to go bigger and the screen on the 11 is crapper.

Good luck finding stock if you’re after this deal.

      • Thanks heaps, that's great.

If I can find the XS I think I will go that way and sell the 11. If not, an iPhone 11 it is :)

        • +1

Yes it all depends on how you are going to use the phone and what are your priorities. For example battery life, camera (also depends on what kind of pics you take most-family or nature etc as the cameras are different in both), whether you watch netflix etc or use phone for reading etc; whether you keep your phone for few years or just couple of years (so software updates matter). And then ofcourse whether you prefer larger sized phone or want a small profile.
Both iPhone 11 and XS are superb and depending on your usage one will be better than the other.

  • Anyone managed to get this deal in Sydney over the weekend?

  • Can anyone confirm if there are any XS Max's left. Can't find any on their website

    • same boat here. ever since my shifts cut, i havent been checking ozbargain as much :) but now i am back in business and need a new phone. was wondering if anyone knows any stock or availability in sydney?

      • +2

In Brisbane some stores had stock even though the phones models were not showing up on website. You may want to stop by your nearest TGG and they can check the stock in other stores for the one you want.

  • Does anyone who cancelled on D1 had to pay the phone discount back that's been alluded to in some of the posts? Is it just the $390 cancellation + upfront phone cost only?

    • There is no such condition in the contract.

  • Can anyone comment on whether it's better to get XS max 64gb or XS 256gb? I think it's $20 more for the storage, but tradeoff is less battery?

Also, has anyone very recently tried to switch to the $50 plan?

    Thank you! :D

    • Went for the XS Max 64GB for $20 less in the end. Figured since I never used the full 64GB on my old phone, I'd go for the cheaper option with theoretically better battery.

FYI, last check Robina and Bundall have the XS 256GB

  • Anyone managed to get xs max 512gb, can you pls share your receipt in case if they say no or something. Thanks :)

  • Wondering if I should pull the trigger $469 for the XS + $380 = $849 especially when I have the X 256gb already…

    • -1

Mate, stop being greedy and leave the other phones for people who couldn’t get one. Just think about others a bit..

    • You’d likely run into the issue of low stock by this stage tbh lol best to check and ensure you can secure a unit before you fire the bullet

    • If you have no complaints with X, then wait for iPhone 12 pro.

  • +1

Seriously, if they haven't been snagged by now, then someone should snag them. It's about whether to upgrade and then sell the X off.

  • Thanks OP. I needed a new phone. There were two Silver iPhone XS 512’s at Thomastown VIC and I got one. It’s replacing my iPhone 7 32gb that would play up sometimes. For $599 and $390 to cancel it’s better than my original plan to get the iPhone SE 64gb for $711 with woolies egift cards. Just hoping the OLED screen will hold up as my Meizu phone with Samsung specs and display got slight screen burn-in :(

    • do you see any ip xs max there? thanks.

      • +1

I asked, no big storage sizes in stock. I think I recall him saying there was a 64gb Max in stock. Will have to call them up. I had to travel from Altona to Thomastown early this morning.

      • there is one left in port macquarie nsw, iphone xs max 256gb space grey

  • also guys, i searched for this phone for a while and found out that many stores has a few behind the counter. especially casula nsw store.
