Can you stream fetch on smart tv without their box?

    • +1

No, not unless your smart tv has an inbuilt fetch box (unlikely).

      • I wish the mini was just an Apple TV app

  • No only tablet or phone with a fetch tv account etc

    • Can you active a mobile device without a fetchTV box? I always thought you needed to go into the the menu on the set top box and generate an activation code but I could be wrong.

I know on the mobile you can only stream non-FTA channels (e.g. no CH7,CH9,CH10,SBS), but I suppose they each have their own streaming apps for that.

      • Can you active a mobile device without a fetchTV box?

        No

I always thought you needed to go into the the menu on the set top box and generate an activation code but I could be wrong.

        Yes

    • Well then you just share screen from your Mobile to tv? And no box needed?

They’ve just lost the Disney Channels yesterday from the Kids pack which is a shame.

Must be Disney changing licensing after the release of Disney+

      • +1

It's the result of Disney pulling out their channels in the region. Foxtel not renewing their deal with Disney means that it wasn't worth continuing to provide the channels in the region.

  • There has been a gap in the market for a decent news channel for what seems forever.

    • CNA, NHK, France24 are pretty good

Al Jazeera is very un-sensational and intelligent, in my experience. Less opinion, more documentary and hard news. I'd recommend giving it a go.

I miss my TiVO!! Fetch is very average!!

    • Cannot agree more with this. My Mrs hates Fetch and keeps complaining why it can't be like TiVO..

      • I loved my Tivo, but honestly don't miss it given how much less live or recorded tv we watch these days. Tivo would have needed an update to include all the steaming apps if it was ever to remain relevant. That said, it will remain one of the best pieces of kit I've owned for the time in history it lasted.

    • I'm still using my Tivo as well as owning 2 Fetch boxes. I had to chip the Tivo to keep it working but it is still going well. For watching live TV nothing beats the Tivo.

      • GTFO! I wish i had of known this was possible before trading mine in for a shitty Fetch Box ….

    • I miss the slow-mo. And I miss getting to the recordingz in 1 button press.

  • Anything worth watching on knowlege pack?

  • Are the channels automatically added? Or do I subscribe and risk getting charged $6? Nothing on the website or fetch says what the post says

    • poor_me Auto added

FYI all - Amazon Prime Video was added to Fetch in the latest update, which is great. Will save me turning on the Xbox or PS4 for those viewing occasions.

Now includes, Netflix, Stan, Prime Video and other less used ones. I believe Disney+ is coming.

    • Yes, it great that they added prime a few days ago. It only works on our mighty box though, not the mini boxes. Not sure if/when prime will come to the mini.
That would be awesome if they added Disney+. Is that pure speculation though, or is there some evidence that this is likely?

      • I'm sure I read it somewhere trustworthy, but can't put my finger on it now. I recall it was noted it would take a little time as Fetch wasn't high on the priority list for Disney in terms of integration, tech, licensing etc. I would suggest its likely, though.

  • Does optus fetch box work with any other internet provider?

    • +1

i pasted that straight into google, and the first result was: "If the Fetch TV was bought through Fetch themselves (or Harvey Norman for example) then you can use it with any ISP. If you got it from an ISP (ie: Optus), then it will only work on the Optus network, won't work on Vodafone's NBN network."

Any way if I get one off gumtree I can hack it and use it unlocked?

      • +1

Network locking - like a prepaid mobile phone. At least with the phone you get it considerably cheaper and can remove the lock at the end.

        • Can you use it from optus mobile hotspot?

        • Even mighty apple iphones can be hacked. I'm sure this crap can be too! :)
