  • I’ve spoken to a few professional painters who prefer to do exteriors by hand. Assuming these aren’t that great overall for weatherboards?

You're the one that's spoken to a few professional painters, you tell us!

      • Ha! Fair call. What I meant was that’s what they say; obviously painting by hand is more time consuming and means more money. But has anyone tried these on weatherboards and got a solid result?

        • I have one of these and found its too inconsistent, when it heats up the flow volume fluctuates and you have to adjust mid spray. Really aggrevating. Only used the fine finish attachment. The bigger attachment might be better for larger jobs.

If I had my time again I'd buy the XVLP 3500 gun as it is semi-pro and I imagine an all around better unit.

The Graco handheld unit would be better for weatherboards but would run out of paint a lot faster.

These guys have a good demo of the Graco and XVLP: https://youtu.be/VJWfS3Q2y_8

I have one of these and can’t recommend it more highly. Painted the whole inside and out side of my brick and plaster house while renovating. Of course it’s took some getting use to but saved $17k on painter just to paint the out side brick and did it in 3 day by myself. Taping one day painting to other 2.

    • I purchased the one with a longer stick, but it was also excellent. so much faster than hand painting, and i feel the finish is nicer also. These do have a fair bit of overspray, and at times if not well cleaned or put back together well can splutter paint.

    • Is there much to maintain with it? Or to get it setup?
