    Still no video games

      Or food or electronics.

    • +12

      Or toys

All the good stuff not included. Screw amazon.

      • +8

        Still better than nothing.

      • +2

Or books. That’s the one I miss most

        • same. I wonder if that will get cash back again in the future.

      • +1

That's only an option in other countries, in Australia, Amazon screws you.

  • +14

Nice to see cashback is available again at Amazon

  • +34

    All Other Products 0.00 %

I think this is equivalent to terrorism.

Purchases paid with gift cards are eligible for cashback.

    Nice!

    • Just wondering - is amazon credit and gift card balance the same thing.
If they are then purchases paid in full thru gift card balance won't attract any Cashback?

  • I purchased the CK perfume deal yesterday, missed this cashback, as yesterday it was 0%

    • But perfume is still 0%?

      • Perfume is 5.30% and under the Beauty category.

        • Hrm, not all perfume must be under beauty then? I got 0% cash back and was told that it was under Health and Personal Care. Something to check for I guess.

          • @justdigi: You can see what category something is in when you open product page, top left corner it shows where it is in their system

    • Same story here. But hey, you choose between miss the perfume or miss the cashback. You call

  • Fingers crossed for Ebay deals

    • -1

Ebay doesn't have a powerful distribution network to take advantage of the times like this Mob does .
      Hence keep them crossed !

Partial easing of the Amazon cashback lockdown!

If we promise to download the app, can we get back to cashback normality?

Maybe with a gift card this looks the only useful category to me IF on special .

  • I've +'ed it, but I'm underwhelmed on the categories (blame amazon not shopback) and won't be buying anything.

    • +5

What's Shopback got to do, got to do with it? Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken.

      • I meant CR not SB. The point is the same.. amazon is the one setting rubbish affiliate commission

  • It would be so good if these extensions worked into the data of the page and told you the cashback on the particular item. How do you know to activate shopback or cashrewards?

    • You can get the CB or CR add-on for your browser, it pops up when you hit an eligible page.

  • Just in time for the gift cards that arrived yesterday, shame about groceries not being included, hopefully in the future.

  • +7

    must be slowing down

    • +6

The lockdown enabled Amazon to see their potential here in Australia if they manage to squash all of the competition. This is their end goal.

    • +1

Sales are good, The cost of doing business is killing them.

      https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52495958

      • +10

"Shipping costs surge". This doesn't surprise me, you order three movies and it gets split into three separate packages. I have no idea how they manage to make Prime profitable.

  • Earbuds covered under cashback or not?

    • +3

They are Electronics. They fall under "All Other Products 0.00%"

    • No

Cashback is ineligible on purchase of …. Electronics

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but check on the product listing what category its listed under. I'm purchasing some VR assessories, and some are listed under "Mobile Phones & Communications" whilst others are listed under "PC" so I'm getting cashback on some…even though they realistically should be the same categories.

  • +1

Home & Garden is included, but Home Ent & Improvement, Kitchen are excluded.

Which home is the home that I may partake in Cashback on? Amazon, this is getting too crafty for me…

  • +1

I think too many restrictions… another way is to just get amazon e gift card from Suncorp (opening an account is free) and you can get 3% off. Not as good as the offer above if you happen to buy things within the special categories, but you get savings back straight away.

I never had a good shopping experience with Amazon AU, always late shipment, or things go missing. Sure they are good in refunding and addressing the issue, but it is always a hassle. To be fair this is probably more to do with the carrier they use, but still I rarely had any issues with other online retailers.

    • +1

Agree. About 1 of 3 my orders either part of them was missing or wrong size, colour etc. likely their staff was under the pressure to quickly pick and send the items from the warehouse and didn't pay attention to details about sizes and colours etc.

      • +6

I've made dozens of orders with them and I've never received an incorrect item or had something missing.

      • -1

Possibly it might be connected to areas / locations as that probably deems the courier / third party company dealing with logistics. I have a pretty decent guy doing my area.

  • Great to have cashback in some form back.

  • +1

damn just as i ordered two things off amazon…

    • Sameeeee. Spent $150 over the last few days

      • I spent a bit as well over the past week but I used the discounted gift cards so it was my attempt at a cash back equivalent. And it’s a more instant saving as such rather than waiting for the purchase to get tracked and eventually being able to claim it

  • +1

    Thanks BA.

  • +1

TA & BA, just made a 2k purchase yesterday ヽ(ಠ_ಠ)ノ

    • What 2k purchase fits in those categories (presume it was electronics?)

  • So the panic buying and panic RRP back in stock OZb posts have slowed down and Amazon decides to bring back cashback…interesting isnt it.

    • +2

      Doesn’t seem particularly noteworthy.

Why would they need to offer callback when demand shoots through the roof and they’re struggling to get goods delivered on time? It’s no different to how Coles and Woollies had fewer specials in March during COVID and are now approaching normality once more

    • +2

Makes good business sense to me.

      • -2

Except i dont know any other business that did that.

        • -1

I can't account for your inability to account for Amazon's accounting.

          • -1

@dm01: wow some people have nothing better than being rude. typical trolls i guess.

            • -1

@lonewolf: If disagreeing with your poorly thought out point makes me a troll, then I suppose I am. But an atypical one, please.

              • -1

@dm01: Glad you agree that you are a troll. If the shoe fits I guess. My point was something a lot of people have been taking about over the past month on amazon threads.

                • @lonewolf: Likewise, my stone-cold troll heart overflows with gladness' warmth at your eventual acknowledgment of your erroneous Amazon analysis.

                  • -1

@dm01: Haha typical troll, too cowardly to speak in person so goes online. I should know better than to waste my time with them. They might go back under the bridge again.

                    • @lonewolf: Those with no point to argue often resort to insults, so your response is not a surprise.

                      • @dm01: Funny how you don’t see yourself in your actions.typical troll behaviour.

                        • @lonewolf: Amusing how you're so eager to reply that your typing suffers.

                          • @dm01: Lol once a cowardly troll , always a cowardly troll I guess .

                              • @dm01: Glad you finally see your actions for what they are. Took you long enough

                                • @lonewolf: Here's a full stop for your sentence: .

                                  • @dm01: Funny how people make comments and yet are clueless that they were the protagonists who went personal.

                                    • @lonewolf: Did you know the letters in 'lonewolf' can be rearranged to get 'newfool'? Granted, there's a left over 'l', but you could keep that as a spare for fixing one of your typos.

                                      • @dm01: Haha, anyway I shouldn’t have let myself get sucked into clogging up this thread and wasting the ops time spent responding to people like this. I have already reported it to the mod to clear it up

                                        • @lonewolf: Excellent work! Thank you for taking responsibility.

                                          • @dm01: Wow trolls really don’t stop, guess I have to block the comments then. Didn’t realise it was that easy to block or hide comments from particular users. Never had to use that feature before but quite well
                                            Implemented

        • Alright, that'll do guys. Time for a ceasefire. Use the Hide feature if you do not want to see each other's comments.

          • @scrimshaw: Thanks , I didn’t know about that feature but it is pretty cool. Works wonders

          • @scrimshaw: I'm more than happy to both see and reply to others' nonsense insults. But for those too thin-skinned to take what they dish out, yes, they can hide. There are likely some IRL parallels to be drawn there.

  • +2

Yo, gimme my video game cashback and you'll be my preferred retailer again.

  • Cashback on toilet paper?

    • Unfortunately not - excluded under "Health & Personal Care"

  • Hopefully there are Lodge iron cast deal shortly

    • +2

      Have you seen this one?

      • Thx mate

    • Another for you - collect all the shapes!

  • 7% is better than nothing.

    • 7% is better than nothing.

Mathnerd…if you're out there would you please verify this?

  • +1

Thanks, was about to buy a watch

    • +5

      Very good timing.

  • Good to see it return, hopefully the other categories will follow!

    • Not sure if all categories were always available before? I think they had different %s and some maybe had none?

  • +1

Is there an easy way to see what category an item falls under?

  • Up your game ShopBack!

  • +2

Amazon not as keen to give cash back this days for video games and electronics due to high demand on such products this days there is no need for cashback.

  • +1

I’ve upvoted, but barely. Good to have some Cashback compared to previously none at all. They can do better though and by the sounds of things, should clean up and more clearly define the eligible categories.

  • would a printer fall under the "office & stationary" catagory?

  • 5.30% Mobile Electronics, Cell Phones & Accessories is subcategory under 0.00% Electronics!? so 0% or 5.3%??!!??

  • +1

I purchased Anker mobile charging products, which fall under mobile accessories but was declined. Then tried the Bayou Monitor arms from yesterday and was also declined. Do they all fall under "All Other Products 0.00 %"?
